[Q] S3 LTE overheating and battery draining after ROM upgrade - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

I upgraded my rom to the rXTREME.v7.1.XXBMB4 last night, I had my phone on charge and was 100% at 8am this morning, the phone is very hot on the back and the battery is already at 40%, not sure whether this has anything to do with the Rom but this is all that has changed since yesterday. Any help would be appreciated

Check to see what is draining your battery and work from there...

Its showing android system using 31% and ebay seems to be using 28%, not sure what they are supposed to be but wasnt having any of these issues before upgrade of Rom.

Remove the eBay app and monitor it for a few days

Lost 27% battery when phone off

I had turned phone off when it was fully charged yesterday and put my Sim in Galaxy
SII and when I replaced back today and turned Nexus 4 on today, the battery was showing 73%. I can not believe it lost 27% in totally power off mode.
My phone is not rooted yet.

How long have you had your phone for? If you just got it recently, keep testing it like that for a few days. It could be just the battery sensor on the phone being new and all.
After I posted the first post, I was checking the battery in settings and it showed that my phone was on battery for over 22 hours. The weird thing is that I literally turned phone on from power off state and saw nexus boot animation came on and phone powering on.
I now think the phone actually do not power off in power off state.
Is something wrong with this phone? Or it is suppose to do that.?

I've found a bug where sometimes the phone will sometimes report the wrong level of battery when charging, but when you restart the phone it will go back to the right level. This might be what happened to you.

Please post in the battery impressions thread.

[Q] HTC Battery Failure, overheating and Will not turn on....PLEASE HELP

I have my phone rooted and I am running cyanogenmod 10.1 on the device. It was running perfect untill today. I woke up and with in a few hours the battery was dead. The phone was gettting really hot during this time too. I plugged it in to a charger and the battery kept dropping. I was going to restore Stock root on it but I needed the battery to be alittle higher before I was going to do it, now the device will not turn back on. It is a Sprint HTC ONE. Any advise would help.
Leave it completely turned off, charge it for a day, when it comes back on go back to stock, completely wipe everything. If it still has the problem its defective and youre back on stock so you can return it.

I think the best start point is to root your phone and then you're be able to do a lot stuff to your phone like flashing some good mod and/or installing any app like greenify or something like that. disable or remove any app/ process you dont need, change cpu govenor. disable wifi, bluetooth, gps when you're not need them.
and this last one is the best possible way....do not touch your phone.

Battery won't fully charge on 4.3

Ever since I updated to 4.3, my battery life sure has been strange! I charge it overnight, sometimes over 12 hours, and when I take the battery off the charger, it reads to only 85%! Up till today I would leave it off the charger for a while and then it would charge the rest of the way. Then, today, I took it off the charger, waited about an hour and put it back on. The battery stalled at 85% no matter how long I left it on the charger.
This started after I took the OTA update. I rooted after I took the update and changed to the Stock With Goodies rom. I'm on Stock With Goodies 2.03 now. I did a full wipe before flashing 2.03, so I don't think a full wipe is the answer.
Is this just a bug with 4.3? What can I do about it?

Stock rooted, and while it charges to 100%, when I unplug it, it goes down to 97% or so. I have now started turning it off and letting it charge until notification light turns green and that seems to stick.

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone. And thank you for offering your help. But I can't afford to turn the phone off for an extended period of time right now. So does anyone have any other solutions?

I forgot to mention I also calibrated it after turning it on. You could always try this app.

Try battery calibration from the play store.

I'll try it. Thanks. If it doesn't work I shall return!
Battery Calibration worked! I used it, then let the phone drain to 1%. Woke up to a fully charged battery. Thanks all!

Very bad battery life if phone is not charged to 100%

For the past few days I've not been able to charge my phone completely to 100% and noticed that the already bad battery life has gone worse. Could someone with good knowledge about batteries or about this issue explain what's going on and how it could be fixed?
