Presenting my first jellybean kernel for the arc/s. Many source changes. Now with Dual Recoveries. Ill write the rest of the thread later on. Please leave Ram and Benchmark results to present an average. And no I'm not gonna be advertising the kernel and being like its the BEST etc, its gonna stay a straight forward thread.
Thankyou.

Re: [Kernel][CM10] emwno's.kernel
Hi emwno.
How much is "much more"? 5 MB, 10, 72, whatever?
Nobody cares what/where is this sent from.

If all goes well, around 27Mb

With bestttt fixes...I am able to record videos with 720p at 30 fps. So can you release two versions one with 720p enabled recording, if it does not take much trouble.

You can take it as high as you want but these devixes wont be able to sustain the load created and the immense heat may cause the processer threads to dtop function meaning a dead phone. I know this because this has happened to me (not an xperia 2011 decice but another with similar specs)

Great work to see new kernel for CM 10 Thank uu
i will give it try for RB
what about battery life ?!
Cheers

You guys have to report that.

[KERNEL] fps v0.4 kernel for stock/MCR [2012-02-08]

fps kernel by dr4go
This kernel is based on the newly released LG v20Q sources, but also includes every (still) needed fix from imperticus' NeoBlaze kernel. It should work on both Froyo and Gingerbread stock and MoDaCo based ROMs. It won't work with CyanogenMod based ROMs.
Prerequisites:
For the SWAP Enabler you need at least 384MB of free disk space on your /data/ partition. And because the swap enabler just triggers the creation of a swapfile it would be best if the data partition wouldn't be too full when executing it (fragmentation will decrease the swap performance by a whole lot!)
Features:
- EXT2/3/4 built in
- NTFS R/W built in
- OC/UV support, overclocking up to 1552MHz [based on cpasjuste] - I recommend SetCPU (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419)
- SDRAM, VDE and GPU overclock [morfic]
- Voodoo Sound [supercurio]
- VR I/O scheduler
- BFQ I/O scheduler (default)
- SLQB memory allocator
- CIFS, TUN
- SWAP support (including swap notify patch for people who want to play around with compcache)

INSTALLATION
1. Remove "boot settings" from Pimp My Cpu to reset to default values
2. Reboot into CWM (v5.0.2.7-r2 recommended)
3. Install zip file from SDCARD
4. Reboot
Kernel sources: Github
Personal note: Although I've already been built a lot of kernels (for the HTC Desire HD and also the LG Optimus 2X) I've never released them to public. And I mainly decided to do it, because I'm really really unsatisfied by the performance of this device. Imho it could and should perform a lot better. Join me if you would like to be part of this adventure.
And to conclude with imperticus words: Please also don't forget the 'Thanks button'.

FAQ
1. Does fps stand for frames per second?
No, it doesn't. And I will never ever release this information to anyone here. Sorry folks.
2. What is the difference between the normal and the safe version?
Only the installer. If you're stuck when booting, please try the _safe version. Otherwise it is the same kernel.
3. ...more to follow...
It's a great news to have a new kernel to try!
Edit:
ROM:Gueste2x_v2.1(base on v20e&v20m)
1.After 3 times test, quadrant score is about 2800 at 1Ghz.(HP SR1 is about 3300)
2.Andrev OC can work. I really like Myrt's apps to set UV&OC.
installed kernel on stock gingerbread rom.
got a quadrant score of 5700+ at OC 1.2 ghz (VR I/O scheduler)
changed I/O scheduler to BFQ and my score jumped to 6000+
dr4go,
Will you add swap support to your kernel? Because this is really great feature for our low memory device )
Fast. Smooth. Thanks!

How come these kernels doesn't work with both CM7 and stock (like MCR) based ROMs? Isn't it possible to fix it? Modles? Kernel version? Too much patches provided by LG?
Remember HTC Hero development back in the days; almost all kernels worked independent on ROM. It was an exception (more or less) if the kernel didn't work with a specific ROM.
Looks like a great kernel, but won't flash a stock based ROM over CM.
What about battery life?

Thanks, that is exactly the information I need to improve the kernel. During HTC Desire HD days, there was no better scheduler than the VR I/O scheduler.
Could you also share your results you get with the Anticipatory-, NoOp- and Deadline-I/O scheduler? That way I could select the best one of those.
Thank you in advance.

Noted. Imo you are right, that it would be a great feature for the LG Optimus P990.
Still a lot on my todo list... I already wanted to release it a few days back (as you may have noted I made the last commit on December 12th - since then I'm using it on my device.
Lastly... regarding the todo list: it's done when it's done - and as always: No information released to public before a new kernel it's out.
Stay tuned folks.

Don't get me wrong: I never had CM installed on any of my previous Android devices. My kernel may work on CM, but honestly... I have no clue.
Yes I've also wanted to try CM once, but as you know... you don't have time for everything.
If you are willing to test it, just flash my kernel (but leave also any other working CM kernel on your SDCARD just in case it doesn't boot anymore) and if you do so... please report back... also what works or what doesn't work...
Thanks in advance,
dr4go
I dealt want to try this kernel buy I do not want to f**k up my phone because it is very good with v20o and rock stable.
is it possible to post a stock kernel so I can return without a flash?
thanks

This is your current kernel you have.
To restore it, there are two possibilities:
1) Copy it to your sdcard and flash it inside a root terminal using the commands:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5
2) Copy the boot.img file inside your nvflash folder, and execute:
Code:
nvflash --bl fastboot.bin --download 10 boot.img

tnx ..i made a nandbackup with CWM from my current rom and now a have flashed your kernel so if anything goes wrong I can go back
I will test this kernel for a couple of days for stability and battery use.
what's with the "windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec 120 " ??
LG 2X lcd screen has a refreshrate of 72hz so anything higher than 72 fps (120) could cause tearing in animations (?)
thanks for your effort and time

Max_events_per_sec sets OS(software opengl related params) related frames. While actual hw fps is setted in tegra frame buffer kernel driver. Increasing refresh rate at HW level(at kernel level) gives fake higher 2d (as benchmarking software read hw refresh rate to judge 2D),Infact worsen performance and in a long run it damages LCD Controllers and can be dangerous Actual supported refresh rate is 60hz for mobile QVGA and HVGA and you may find 60-62 with other company except LG.

Internal SD isn't mounted at all.
I lost my internal Sd...

Yes always
found a solution, its ramdisk, it is setting up PHONE_STORAGE as emmc on init, but in my kernel it should be SECONDARY_STORAGE as emmc.
^Will you integrate your kernel with your rom and also put PDroid in it?
Sorry for having so many request.
Flashed the kernel, no problems encountered so far. Good job and I like the fact that there are just 2 files that get flashed. The boot.img and wireless.ko, easy to revert without leaving back files. please keep it simple and clean. Create extra zip for all tweaks if you want them instead of bundling in kernel. Thank you.
after an hour of testing in have to say it works well, ill try a full day with it

[KERNEL][4.4 KitKat] Fluid Kernel v1.0 [11/21]

Fluid Kernel
FOR KITKAT AOSP ROMS
This is enhancement over basic CM kernel to attain more fluidity, performance and power saving.
There is no heavy modification like NX-Kernel or Mackay Kernel which causes lag eventually.
Kernel is compiled with Linaro Toolchain 4.7-2013.10 and is bug free.
If any bug found other than one already in CM11 basic kernel, please report.
OCed but default max frequency is 1GHz.
Feature requests are welcome except for BLN feature.

Actually KitKat was/is supposed to be a release which will help memory-challenged phones (like ours), so if anything KitKat *is* something we expect ardently and sure as hell hope that dev support won't end now, now that we finally reached an OS version actually suited for our low-ram phone(s)...
Thanks Neo for making a start in supporting us with 4.4 goodness...
Thanks for this rock kernel using it on captivate
If u can compile this kernel on captivate would be thankful
Just the difference is the volume keys layouts
Great work!!
It will be really great if you can compile this kernel also for the captivate!!

Should learn to compile your self. Or switch the volume key layout to revers it back to normal
@sada23 Is this article helpful to your already awesome kernel? http://source.android.com/devices/low-ram.html
I noticed that we have Linux 3.0.x in use, which probably lacks the "tunable reclaim" feature, but could be cherry-picked from the patch in 3.4 branch, as stated by Google:
Support for a new kernel tunable is added in the android-3.4 kernel branch as patch 92189d47f66c67e5fd92eafaa287e153197a454f ("add extra free kbytes tunable"). Cherry-picking this patch to a device's kernel will allow ActivityManager to tell the kernel to try to keep 3 full-screen 32 bpp buffers of memory free.
For those who are in search for Ramdisk source, get it here:
https://github.com/neobuddy89/fluid_kernel_vib_initramfs
I reckognize that USB thethering is not working with fluid kernel and sada's unofficial KK 4.4. It ends in a reboot.

I would like to see the kernel upgrade. Just ask to remove overclocking 1.3/1.4 GHz, since it will probably kill the smartphone, and my at those speeds just hangs and you have to remove the battery!

Then don't overclock to 1.3/1.4 GHz. Some peoples devices might be able to handle it. Just because yours can't doesn't mean to nobody's can. Be smart with what you do and know what your phone can handle. Mine does 1.4GHz just fine.

Hi Bauner,
Just when we thought things were starting to get a little slow around here (although thanks to JackEagle and his recent Spirit release) out comes another Rom maker.....
All roms for our Note are, as always..... TRULY WELCOMED!!!! thank you....
So will this have any bells and whistles, as found in other KK roms... such as Driving Mode and what not...??
Cheers, Lister
Many thanks for the new ROM for Our device. If you could include features list really appreciate..

Have been looking for a new ROM to flash over the weekend. Guess I'll give this ROM a shot and post a video review of it :good:
Hi bauner, congratulations for the great work. Everything works fine but I have a problem with the play store. I used pa gapps mini modular, can depend on this if you see a 16-bit type? Thanks again
