Does it only clears the internal storage and not the external sd?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

Wipes all of your installed apps and settings from the phone itself, does not touch the external sd or anything on the internal sd

Are you trying to copy from PC to ext sd?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
It should show up as a seperate drive with the phone if you're mounting it as a USB drive. It would show up as something called Removable Disk (with a drive letter) if you haven't renamed the card before.
You are aware that on your phone the Ext sd is called emmc on cm base roms?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Its there when I connect via PC but that's not the prob I have a 32 gb mem card that's not getting used by the phone at all phone men and built in external is full and can't get it to use my SD card

And I don't have a file called emmc either mate
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Go to your file manager and look for 2 folders
emmc
sdcard
one will be external sd & other internal sd
If you are on stock ROM then looks for SDcard>external_sd
I have a external file an a SD file but this phone has internal memory and external SD built in to it just that dosnt allow me to use mine to move apps to etc I managed to put some pics n music on it but wanna use it to save space on my phone aswell
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Stock?
Are you running a stock rom?
What were some of the things you were doing before this problem started?
The more info the better
No I got ics rom on it and it hasn't worked since I rooted the phone mate I think its got somfin to do with the phone having its own internal and external SD cards I don't know if I can removed external SD card myself but I doubt its just like a normal SD card
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
If you're running cm9, ur external sd card is at mnt/emmc. If you were to put to mnt/sdcard/externalsd/, you are simply placing ur files to internal sd.

What happens to apps on sd card after full wipe and you install a new ROM

What happens to apps on sd card after full wipe and you install a new ROM? I installed marvel v9 but forgot about all the apps I moved to my sd card before? I know they weren't erased so, where do I find them or uninstall them
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
They are erased when you flash a new rom with data wipe
Wipe or factory reset will erase all app in phone and sd card..
But if not wiped, all app in phone and sdcard will not be deleted at all..
thats not completly true... if an app is at sd card, it stays there, I mean if you do full wipe is gone from the phone, but the app and data is at sd card, like if you do a backup with TitaniumBup... wipes don't touch data at sd cards, yes app will be no more there, but if you reinstall it, it will take data back from sd card

No.
Because the app stays at /mnt/asec and that is removed when you make a data wipe.
The wipe doesn't erase the sd card so every thing should be there, but no links to the actual used apps. For example I just installed app 1 and I used to have app 1 on the sd card, more I have one app 1 on the phone storage and one app 1 (useless) taking space on my sd card. an I right?

that's what I'm saying.... more or less.....
Apps move to sdcard are deleted but data downloaded by apps remains in sdcard because android is not aware where the data is.
And where is that data stored?

The data is at the /data map.
It is only the app that is in /mnt/asec/

How to change cwm recovery path to internal sd?

I am using the cwm recovery 6.0.1.2 that's with the hydracore and when I do a backup it chooses the ext sd card for backup.. I don't have much space there and I want the backup to be placed in the internal storage.. How can I change this?

you can choose in cwm backup/restore menu : backup internal sd.
or make a backup in external, then copy paste the clockworkmod dir in internal sd

Ive noticed some cwm-r versions are kind of "reversed" too when it comes to backup/restore and install from locations... when you chose internal the cwm-r uses the external and the other way around. so if you have chosen to backup to internal but it put it on external anyways then try to do the backup to external to have it on the internal sd don't know if that's the case with version you use though

No.... the latest the version seems to be loading it correct.
When I choose internal.. It goes to the internal storage.
But this was not the case with earlier ones that we had with speedmod and notecore

It's not a storage per say, it's just when you plug in your phone to your computer, enable usb mass storage and gives you access to your sd cards.. on your computer.

On Note
Device memory : where the ROM is installed (is a part of USB storage exclusively for Roms and sys apps
Usb Storage : internal storage of the phone where apps store data
SD card : external SD

Half right and half wrong. Internal storage is space given to system rom and where apps are installed, usually up to 3 gb +/-. Sd card storage is the main amount of storage given to you by the phone to store all your data/app data/documents/folders, etc and the term includes any external SD card you have. USB storage is what I said before. You can only access your sd cards, whether the phone's or external, not internal storage

Make external Storage Internal (more game space)

so we all know we have 11gb about or so free for internal storage on JB .. and your external storage is however big your sdcard is (mine is 64gb) well with all these new games that are coming out with .obb files that are HUGE 600+ MB or more .. is there anyway to make the external storage actually internal storage so that when you click move to SD it really moves to your SD card and not internal storage.. i know there are some apps in the appstore that might do this.. but the real question is do they work for Jellybean. because the mounts are different now.

This one worked for me on JB leak. I was able to move the data of NFSMW & Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour to ext sd & play :good:
I m using directory bind. Move your data to ext sd and bind in internal sd.
