Is anyone else having this problem? It just gets hotter and hotter to the point where I have to use Loudspeaker or end the call.
Should I ask for a replacement?

I don't make long phone calls so don't have comment. I get heat after long gaming or something but generally dunk it in some water to cool it off haha ^_^

These are not long phone calls though. The longest one has been 13 minutes.

Hey guys,
In some cases my display heats up very fast. Can't touch it for a while. Can anyone confirm that? I don't do a lot, just text a SMS or something...
Thanks in advance

Is the whole screen heated up or just a part of it (possibly only top or bottom of the screen)? What were you doing before it started heating up? Playing games while charging can sometimes cause the whole device to heat up, at least it does on my SGS.
Did you accidentally drop your phone in some water or something? That's the most common cause for such problems.

Thanks for your answer. The hole screen is heating up very fast. If I play 3d games it is usually but I just look at the time or chatting with some friends. My phone never dropped into water and I don't overclock it.
I'm on JB Rom right now but had that problem in GB and IcS too. Just wanted to ask if it is normal for 2 years old devices
My device is running great but the fast heating is wired ;/

While playing 3d games heating up sounds quite normal, but it should not happen when just chatting or similar stuff that does not use loads of system power :\
If you still got some warranty on it, you might want to send it to some repair center to fix it. (Remember to flash back to stock rom before doing so )
Haha my phone didn't have any warranty anymore
I could buy me another but I love the style and great support of the I9000 ! it seems like I have to live with the "heat issue" until my phone burns haha
Thanks for your advice again.

i noticed that my screen heats up quickly if i'm charging battery and if i overclock the cpu..
i just leave the phone for 15min then so the screen cools down

If I leave the phone settle down for a moment the heat issue is gone too. But I didn't overclock or something.

Does it heat up even if brightness is set to 0%?

What is that dreadful rattle noise that seems to come with the haptic feedback of every HTC phone? Sometimes the feedback seems fine then the weird rattle comes back. Had this phone one day btw. Dropped it once though.

Have had mine for a few days now and has only had one fall from a few inches off the ground so I know my issue isn't from damage.
The haptic feedback seems okay for the most part, but any other vibration is crazy loud/rattles. Even while holding in your hand and not just rattling on the desk or something. Seems to be a common problem.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
Sounds like a QC issue. It should not be like that. Mine is silent when vibrating, unless on a table or something hard that resonates the sound.

Interesting. Yeah mine makes the sound only when sitting on a hard surface, or if my hand is in a certain spot on the phone. I hate that sound so much though.

I can say that the vibration sound is quite loud and annoying. And it is only when holding it certain ways. Straight up a s down it makes no noise. At a 45° angle it is quite loud as well as holding it flat.

It's the worst! It's like this with every HTC phone I've had. I just turn off all haptic on HTC phones because it annoys me so much.
Makes me second guess not going with the s4

The vibration issue makes me want to take this back and exchange it in store. The data issues and next to impossible streaming capability(have not yet been able to stream a YouTube video using mobile data) make me want to just take it in and exchange for the s4.
The over all build quality and believe it or not, the ui and software makes me want to keep the One.
Still have about 10 days left to make my decision.

I pretty much feel the same way. I have 12 days. If the build and UI wasn't so sexy I would have already.
As I'm typing the vibration is getting more ridiculous.

Any way I could get this thread moved to Q&A?
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
I swear there is a thread somewhere for this, but I can't find it. So flame away.
Speaking of flames if I'm ever freezing, and the area I'm in has horrible signal I'll just use my phone as a heater.
The heat from this phone is seriously drying my hand out from charging it and tasking it with games. Plus always having terrible signal. Thanks sprint. I feel like it shouldn't be this warm though? Please inform me if I'm wrong.
Oh temperature is at 101°F just sitting charging.

Its fine and yes, there are several of these threads. The phone is made of metal as opposed to plastic. Youre using one big heatsink.

Don't quote electronics temperatures in F.
101 F is 2-3 degrees above body temperature. That seems reasonable.
I wouldn't expect someone to consider it hot until 50-60C. Or about 125F or above.
You're dealing with metal, metal conducts heat far better than other materials you can make phones out of. Metal will transfer the heat to your hand. I would have thought this would have been obvious when you bought a metal phone, but some people seem surprised.
I am running at -25 mV and I haven't had any battery alerts since.
D3rped out Beastmode! HTC ONE!
The only time I ever had an issue with heat had to do with the rom/kernel I was running. I really thought something was wrong with the phone until I changed roms.

A ROM change actually made a world of difference.

4G (especially marginal) chews battery switching between 4G and 3G.
You can't use the Signal Strength to know what the 4G strength is.
I have since shut 4G off and my Battery is much better. You can shut it off by using non LTE PRL or set to CDMA only.
The non LTE PRL (12126) makes this the best 3G phone ever, for me.
Sprint has been "Rolling Out" 4G for 6 months in eastern MA and just seems to be getting worse.
I'm running Viper with what ever Kernel he supplied with it. My phone never gets hot. Maybe slight warm if running NAV while Charging.
I never play games.
I made an underwater recording video in my sink for YouTube and when I was watching it back I noticed that the sound got a LOT less loud :/
Anyone know a solution?

You have to wait for the speaker cover to dry properly.
It will come back to normal once its dried.

Are you sure? It's been 2 hours now ..
Have you had a similar experience?
It can take a while to dry. 2 hours is short.

The manual says to let the speaker dry for at least 3 hours before using it again.
Although, it's fairly obvious that hardly anyone that has the phone has even glanced at the manual

See no sweat it just takes a while to dry. Sony here in Germany Berlin said to me that if it isn't better after a day so like 24 hours then there is problem.

Stop using it before you make it worse. Turn it off, put it in a ziplock bag filled with rice for a day or two.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I would definitely turn the phone off. Sometimes a blow dryer also does the trick. Just don't use it until you're completely sure it's dry.
