I just have been waiting for help for days, I'll admit I'm a bit socially inept. I'm frustrated at myself for screwin around with stuff in my phone not knowing what they were for, that frustration is just spillin out on to the lack of help. I'm hoping that a senior member will help out, in the mean time I'm not goin anywhere, besides as a carpenter and ex-con I have hazed, shunned, and made life hell for many "greenhorns" to my trade and many many more fish in the clink, so I guess I deserve it. Thanks for the attitude check. you weren't the first today

first of i wanna thank all thoes who post here to assist niggas like me who far behind when it come to tecnology.i reviewed many forms and still dont understand how to do this. i had a behold and broke it puttin software on there so i dont wanna do it to my wing.i always considered myself an intelligent individual but when i started learning about this i felt dumb as homer(the simpsons).i need help. i will donate to whoever can put this in slow terms and help me step by step.i would like to install touch and 6.1 in not 6.5..i still dont know what im talkin about but ive seen the youtube videos an been fasinated with gettin them ever since.please assist me i will greatly appreaicate it u will .i just got my wing monday so i dont know if its even capiable of this upgrade but let me know..
Hey man I'm on the same boat as you. This **** is real complicated but after about 24 hours of reading through all these tutorials and guides I have manahed to Hard SPL my devie (I still don't know what that means but I did it and needed to do it to add custom ROM's to it).
Do what I did man read up on this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369397
Start from "how to flash" and Hard SPL your device. If you get stuck on anything just post here. I will see if i can help but like i said I'm only starting like you so it would be better if a mod comes and helps us both =P
oh and no I didn't mess up my device I have flashed it about 10x already
Yeap. I upgraded ROM succesfully, but when my PPC started for the first time he asked for screen align. I was tapping mark many times and nothing happened. Please, do not say it is my digitizer's problem..
If this is a noob question I'm sorry I've been around these parts for a little while and even though i know how to root the G1 im having a hard time un-rooting it.
OK I just recently traded a buddy of mine's white G1 for my Bronze G1. Its a little ruff around the edges and its a little messed up so i was going to do a warranty claim.
I'm having an issue with trying to get the splash image to reset it self better yet I cant get it to work whatsoever. every time i go and do the whole
run
cmd
cd desktop
cd fastboot
then type "fastboot erase splash2"
It hangs there and just says <waiting for device>
I have done this and have changed my splash image on my bronze g1 a million times with no issues but for some odd reason its like it doesn't recognize this damn phone?
while I'm here I've also had issues after flashing the original spl and placing the DREAIMG.nbh file on the root of my sd card going into the bootloader and it not giving me an option to do the update. it just goes from the "rainbow" screen right back to the "rainbow" screen am i doing something wrong?
I would love to resolve this before my replacement comes in the mail just in case T-mobile feels like giving me $hit about the phone being rooted.
Once again I'm sorry if this maybe a misplaced post or if its a noob question but from what I've seen I'm the only person having these issues
Answers for unrooting are all over, a quick search would've yielded plenty of answers. Questions go in the Q&A section, this section is for devs and testers.
1. replace whatever recovery image you're using with the stock recovery image.
2. use the RC29 DREAIMG.nbh to downgrade the phone and "unroot"
3. pack it up and ship it.
This takes less than 5 minutes to do and T-Mobile gives you plenty of time to ship the broken phone, so need to do it before the new phone arrives.
As an aside, I know four people who've shipped rooted phones back to T-Mobile and never heard a peep.
EDIT: if your phone isn't seeing the .nbh file its probably because your SD card is FAT16, it needs to be FAT32.
I guess you must have only read part of what i wrote.
i know what I'm "supposed" to do I'm writing what my phone is doing while in the process. yes i know its only supposed to take 5 minutes and I have googled and have searched. I'm not being lazy if that's what you implying
you find somone or somewhere where someone has had the same issues and i will apologize. re-read my post then answer again thanx
p.s. and yes my sdcard is and has been formatted to Fat32

Then why did you post this in the development section?
I wanna be I wanna be a moderator
God forbid I placed this in the wrong section.
I figured, maybe a DEVELOPER might know the answer there for I posted it in the DEVELOPMENT section but forgive me father for I have sinned.
Please move my post so the people that obviously don't know the answer can stop coming in here.
Keep insulting people. That will get someone to help you really fast.
Try reinstalling your fastboot drivers. Its probably not recognizing it as its a different phone and has a different ID or something like that
if your not in here to help then why are you in here? people like you are the reason this forum is slowly going down. I'm just asking for a little help.

thank you very very much i will try that
I wasn't going to help you, but I decided I will since I am not a doosh. I had a very similar problem. I agree that reloading the driver is a good idea. But that wasn't all I had to do. I had to reload the driver with the latest driver from HTC. You can find it here. http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/adp.html
Thank you very much i appreciate the help and yes updating the driver worked perfectly thank you.

They're not helping because it only encourages others to also post in the development, questions that have nothing to do with developing something. Not because we're assholes. Post in the right section, and people will help.
Solution found to query. Thread closed
does anyone know or do roms in st louis i want the hero rom, i tried but brick my phone got it back running but, still want the rom and dont want to brick it again so any help would be nice.
Not trying to be mean or rude or nothing like that, but if you get someone to do it for you, then want to change something later, you'll be in the same boat. It's not really a good idea to change anything on your phone unless you know how to fix what you break. You said you almost bricked it, but got it back. That means you got some stuff figured out. Don't give up. If you are scared you might end up with a brick, than testing roms is not for you. Stick with stock if it worries you that much.
The problem is you didn't spend enough time reading what people have already posted. If you had read it well you would know this thread won't get any answers, will get closed, and you run the risk of being banned for a few days for posting in the wrong section. This belongs in the Q&A section.
That said, read up a little more. Start with a normal modded rom, and then move on to a hero rom. Step by step instructions are in a number of posts here. If you still can't get it after a couple trys, ask in the right section, people are more than happy to help if you know where to post for them to see you need it.

Check your PM
There is no such thing as almost a brick, you brick it and you are done. Game over.
What you are refering to is known as a bootloop, I like to call them booty loops cause it makes them sound like a damn breakfast cereal and I don't feel too annoyed that I got one. Normally it is as easy as a wipe to fix or maybe a repartion to fix. Don't let a little misstep in your way stop you from learning what you need to. Even expert flashers run into the eventual problem but we are smart and make nandroid back-ups

i completed all the steps of rooting my g1 but whn i tryn download step4 it keeps telln me the application root(process root.root) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again but it doesnt let me continue what do i do?
There are 2 types of people on these forums..
The first type have a natural affinity to technology. They carefully read everything and educate themselves. They never ask questions, they just quietly experiment, expand their knowledge and get everything done.
The second type have no real idea what they're doing or why. They rush into things without understanding what they are, need their hand holding at every stage, and get on everyone's nerves in the process.
Which will you be?
What the hell is step 4? You haven't even told us what guide you're following.

yeah seriously man just because you created an account on here doesnt mean you can just post and post and post. there is an etiquette to the forums that you must learn or else you will get FLAMED. btw im not talking to you GOLDENARMZ im talking to the OP sorry for the confusion! i love your themes bro
I have (had) a rooted Hero with Froyo CM 6.2.0 (Dec. 31 build). As the internal memory ran out I was trying to partition my 8Gb SD card , but didn't see the change on internal memory (still show 160M) after, so I did wipe and (failed) formatting of the SD card using adb and ROM Manager. Now the phone is not recognized with adb and it just hung with white HTC screen when rebooting. The SD card is not recognizable from the phone or with a card reader from Windows.
Where should I start now?
I had ROM manager installed on external sd card. now it's gone with the wipe and partition I believe..
Sorry for making it like a mess Thanks in advance!
Dude. This is "Android Development". Hence all the ROM and *development* threads. Your post is a question. That belongs in Q&A. It's not that frigging hard. Jesus.
You will have to look for the RUU for your carier. Just search the forum for RUU Hero CDMA or google it.
That will set you back to stock, Then you can use z4root or your choice to root and then flash your recovery w/ Clockworkmod or RA.

My god. Calm down. All u had to say was, hey man u should maybe post this in q&a but here's what u need to do. Not everyone goes to mod academy and is as smart as u. I would much rather have somebody make a simple mistake like this guy then to have people like u that have nothing useful to add or no help to offer when someone is in a desperate situation. If your phone wouldn't boot and u thought u just completely messed it up are u really going to be thinking about what section your question goes in or are u just going to get it on here as fast as possible so some of the brightest and most gifted people you've ever met could help u out? Sorry for this long rant, I'm just tired of people acting like there perfect and that its there job to remind everyone that there posting in the wrong section and instead of just simply reminding the person and then trying to help them they gotta be an ass about it.

When there is a sticky in the rom dev forum that says not to post questions, and people still do, then a post like andrew378 made is warranted. Nothing to do with being smart and everything to do with basic comprehension.
If my phone didn't boot, I'd look for answers first. Research and find the best place to post. Q&A vs Android Development. Hmm, well I'm not doing any development or talking about developing something, so Q&A it is. Also, if your phone is that important to you, one might think twice about attempting something that could render it a useless paperweight. Especially if you don't know what you are doing to begin with.
No one is acting perfect. Just expect that people put in a little bit of effort if they want help.
edit: Not to mention that there are two posts from the OP with the same problem. So not only was it posted wrong, it was double posted.
Now, I don't use apps2sd anymore, but if I recall, that your internal memory doesn't change it's value, but when you install apps you shouldn't see that value decrease like normal. The value will decrease, but that is due to other things explained in the apps2sd thread in the dev forum.
