Change Galaxy S3 Splash screen/Boot logo - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Hey everyone, I'm now here.
As soon as I got my s3 I rooted without even knowing what it does.
When I finally got what is root, I wanted to change my splash screen.
I downloaded ADB and for like 2 months I tried to change my splash screen, but with no luck.
So this is what I want: A galaxy s4 splash screen .zip for cwm.
THANK YOU!
D. S.

R: Change Galaxy S3 Splash screen/Boot logo
Ok dude im onna help u out but u shpuldve done some google search on this cause it is elementary.
(This method is for galaxy s3 jnternational, alias i9300, but im guessing it will work just as well)
FIRST- get root!
SECOND- get your hands on the bootanimation u want and rebame it to "bootanimation.zip"
THIRD- (if u wanna make a backup of your current bootanim go ahead) head over to /system/media folder and replace existing bootanimation.zip file with earlier one
FOURTH- to remove kernel bootlogo (if u have like siyah or stuff) try placing a file in sdcard0 called ".nobootlogo", not sure if this is your problem.
To get the s4 bootanim it needs to come out first. Then u go get the bootanimation file from another s4 or look it up on the web, its not that hard.
FINAL: get informed about android stuff on the web man so u dont ask stupidish/easy questions on xda

Hey, your steps are for changing the animation and logo, but it is not really what the OP is talking about. He is talking about the screen before boot. For example, if you boot into recovery you get a splash screen, often a carrier logo, before you get to the recovery screen.
The links provided suggest using commands to write over the param partition, which should work, as it changes the image, but, the images are also stored somewhere in sboot. The images in the sboot take over if you change param. Changing to a new sboot doesn't help either, at least in my case. Probably need to re-write the whole partition 1 of the i9300, not sure about the OP's phone though.

How do I write over portion 1?

You think I am that stupid?

Don't say ask stupidesh questions because no body asked this question or answered it yet.
I meant before the boot animation...

There's an app that can change your splash screen it's called ROM Toolbox Lite/Pro. There problem solved.
Please learn how to search for it before actually posting cause there are a lot of solutions lying around.

Last I checked it was not for s3.

I've installed that app before. So i'm pretty sure it's compatible for the S3 unless the LTE one is not supported.

Root toolbox doesn't change sgs3's boot logo (sadly, it does it only for few devices). It seems that nobody has found a way to do this. Sgs2 had its own app for doing this (!), I don't know what's the problem maybe Samsung made it harder/impossibru with sgs3

A quick search of XDA reveals that boot logo for I9300 is in the bootloader .
Probably to big a risk to edit the bootloader .
i9305 may well be the same .

boot animation
i managed to change the splash screen which come before the animation i guess but after the first screen which im guessing isnt meant to be touched by anyone at all no matter what. but everything after that very first screen can be changed. the splash, which is second, i changed with a zip file i just flashed in recovery but the rest i think isnt possible without using samsung theme designer because samsung uses a different file like qmt or something like that and you cant just replace it with zip file( as far as i know, not alot though) like you could with other phones or using rim toolbox. i have tried changing those .qmt files' names to .bak and replacing them with one of the downloaded zip animations just because im afraid of bricking my phone and having to odin it back to stock, although if its as simple as flashing using recovery if mess up, or just the file itslef to get it working, i wouldnt mind messing with the animation and what not.
if anyone happens to know where i can find a Metropcs boot animation i would appreciate it. i changed the splach screen but that wasnt what i was looking for and i dont know how to change that back

One with intro and loop
One with the whole animation in loop

Hope you like it. If so, use thank button or donation (I'll appreciate it. LOL)
Both look similar but will go for the second one cheers mate
PS - can i just flash this via CWM?
They are the same. I couldn't decide if I liked the whole animation keep looping or just the final part with the Android text
as a loop

You can try deleting the bootanimation.zip in /system/media
Or adding this line inside the build.prop:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1

They are talking about splash screen "LG" and not boot animation..
Anyway, I think the splachscreen is useful in e-recovery. As it only works at the LG Logo and not in boot animation. That means if deleted/removed it will enter in boot animation already. Atleast for what I understand..
I believe It's inside the kernel (zimage).
i actually want to change the splash to sth else lol =P

One of my favorite boot animations. Resized for our tablets.
Copy to /system/media and reboot. You need root access to copy this. Most people use root explorer for this. This is only for aosp roms such as AOKP / CM10 and the like. Not for stock roms!!

You can backup the old boot animation on the sd card, or rename it to something that dont mess up with the new one.
@OT Could you provide more bootanimations? And maybe for the 7 inch and the 10 inch one?

OP updated with resized animation.
I have been working on this a bit and have failed at it miserably.
I'm trying to get this animation onto my tab:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20788-bo...ic-old-skool-arcade-title-screen/page__st__10
Ideally I'd like to get it running in "portrait" mode, which I think means all the images need to be rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
I haven't managed to succeed, only make my tab not display anything on screen anymore in landscape mode, and display only like 1/3rd of the screen in portrait mode.
That was fun to fix LOL.
Anyways, any suggestions? It seems like this should be easy!
Looks great! I'm about to try.

When you say the "file" you mean the image or the apk? Because I don't think apks for ICS can work on a phone with GB. :S
I want it to look like this....
There is a tutorial here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494271
But it is for Galaxy Ace so I don't think it would fit on my screen.... Please help me, is the only thing i need to make my phone look 100% ICS.
EDIT: Actually I check on google and I noticed Galaxy Ace's screen is HVGA too.... (320x480) Let me try this to see if it works... Thanks anyway
EDIT 2: It doesn't work... after applying it it reboots and then i have a bootloop. Any way to make this work? Please help!

What you mean by "dpi"?
My phone is a Live with walkman (320x480) resolution so this images posted on the thread have to work on my phone.
Here is what I did:
Installed Ninjamorph
Copy framework-res.apk to SD.
Open apk with Ninjamorph.
Replace png files posted in the thread I just mention before.
Finish project
Replace original framework-res.apk with the new one (new pngs) with the right permissions.
And that`s it. But it doesn't work.
Oh sorry dude, today i was messing around with build.prop changing dpi and pattern lockscreen looked just like yours.
