[Q] Hiding the Android bar - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there. I love my Xperia Z on the great whole, but I was wondering if there was a way (via an app maybe) to auto-hide the grey android bar and then maybe making it reappear by swiping in from the side? It's kind of annoying having it there take up space, when you'd like to use up the entire screen.
Thanks!
PS: if its possible, am I able to do it without rooting? I dont wanna Lose the bravia engine feature

I highly recommend using the SEARCH option. Will save you loads of time.

Um... yes, thanks. But I can't seem to find any topics regarding hiding the bar without rooting. Does this mean it can't be done?

There's no need to reply "go search" in every thread. If you don't want to answer the question - why bother replying at all ?

Ah, well that might be a good alternative. Is there anything you can recommend?
And will a launcher overwrite the original UI all together?

You didn't mention which version you needed. So, I made all three. I edited out the app drawer icon, just like you said. Anywho, if this isn't what you're looking for, let me know.

The file(image) that looks like the icon u wanna get rid off
All u have to do is open the apk, make that image transparent/delete its contents and repack/resign the apk.

Not a problem. I made every portrait and landscape MDPI and HDPI app drawer icon transparent. So, the files are still there. The specific files are "ic_tray_expand.png", "ic_tray_expand_pressed.png", and "ic_tray_expand_selected.png" Enjoy.

Hi there. First of all, I'd like to thank you again for providing the apk without the icon.
That said, and hoping I'm not asking too much, I wonder if you could do the same with the latest ADW version, since the previous is FC'ing a lot. I'd do it myself, but I'm no developer, just a noob scared of coding. lol
Thanks again

[Q] Android Home Screens

I didn't know where to post this.
How can I have home screens for my phone such as these:
http://blogs.computerworld.com/android/21359/make-hottest-android-home-screens-yourself
Would love it if I could get something of a similar sort for my Xperia X8.

you need to use apps like minimal widget, minimal text, UCCW, eye in sky weather widget, the the background resized accordingly. there are very common customization. search for "UCCW theme xda" or "minimal homescreen" and you will get the results
Yeah, but how to go about it?

Okay.
So while creating this, will it just act as the homescreen, or can I have a full fledged theme based on it as well?

[REQ] Transparent Navbar system wide.

Hey modders, I was wondering if you can make a transparent/translucent Navbar that I can use throughout apps, I know about the immersive mode.
I feel Iv looked almost everywhere with no result as to why it can't be done or hasn't I would settle for it changing with my apps but I can't use xposed since I'm on 5.1
Thanks in advance for any help/info.
Nexus Titan 6
Guess that's a nope.
Yes, for me that's a feature that I would live to have,UV been asking about this for awhile now and I never get a answer. I don't understand why this can't be done or if devs just don't wanna tackle it. There's a modual in xposed that let's us fad the navbar but it just come back,I don't like the fade feature. I would gladly donate if someone would make this happen. Let's start a petition lol.....

Yea man, same here there's just not enough people liking the magic of it. Personally I think it adds more screen relestate for viewing. I have talked to some guys over on G+ in bitsyko layers project and apparently he is doing it. But you'll have to use layers.

You can use ultimate dynamic navbar pro to do this. I currently have my navbar transparent. Also, it expands your desktop when you make your navbar transparent so you really do have more screen real estate. Unfortunately, it won't let me post the link for it but you can find it in the play store

Iv tried it. It uses more system resources, also it has only made the whole navbar disappear lol
I'm looking for the stock navbar with no black background. Just like on the homescreen.

You can do that with udn, it hides your real navbar and put a an exact clone to replace it. Then you go to theme and make the background clear

Bro we are asking for a STOCK navbar with a transparent background meaning that black covering the text behind the buttons is gone. Just as it would be on the homescreen and recents menu lol.

I understand that lol. The navbar I posted is UNB's basic theme but is customizable if you purchase it and can be transparent. It's obviously not a stock hack or anything but I was confirming it's an identical solution that works for 5.1, assuming you're rooted.

I bought it awhile back, didn't do what I wanted an had 4.4 Navbar icons didn't enjoy it.
Using layers the customize my Navbar icons.
Guys, is there something new? I also want to disable the black color behind the buttons
woookay now.
1 : The devs don't owe us, anything. They can build whatever the hell they want. Plus, most roms now are some sort of kang of another. Why else would most roms have pertty much the same features then?
2: This is all on the assumption that apps don't theme the navbar, and that they have coded the app to display at where the navbar is. I've done a fully transparent status and navbar build for my nexus 4 and while it works fine on launcher, it would bug out with artifacts when using other apps or it just returned to grey.
BUT, devs are amazing so they could probably make this work. However, there are much more important things to be done before modifying on the looks of android. So please, just be patient or try and do it yourself.
Obviously you guys don't feel the way I do.... I hate the navbar. I don't use it. Such a waste of screen. Have you tried something good like pie or an alternative to the navbar? I'd suggest that. But to each his/her own.

There be light up soft keys. And the 6in screen that would have made it 100x better.

bigger samsung stock keyboard

Hey,
Is it somehow possible to increase the height of the samsung stock keyboard beyond the stock values? I know I can adjust the size in settings but I want to make it bigger because I'm using quite low DPI. I'd there any setting or value I can change in root browser?
Same question for SwiftKey BTW. I know it's possible with gboard but I don't like it.
Thanks.

Stock keyboards always suck. Try A.i.Keyboard. I use to only rock Swift, not anymore. The amount of customization makes all others look like a joke. Look at screenshot how easy its to adjust like you asked.

Yeah you probably won't look back after some use. Go through the settings as well. Tons of options to pick to your likens. Also notice you posted asking for emoji. Dowload there add on for it and offers android, apple, 3rd 1 even better then android and apple.
