[Q] Trying To Root Sony XperiaT V4.1.2 - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to root my Sony Xperia T LT30p that is on android v4.1.2 Build 9.1.A.0.489 using the Root with Restore by Bin4ry and seem to be getting the following message:
Error: Activity class {com.sonyericsson.vendor.backuprestore/com.sonyericsson.vendor.backuprestore.ui.BackupActivity} does not exist.
Have the phone connected in debugging mode correctly and the phone's bootloader has been unlocked.
More info:
Phone is in USB debugging mode, unknown sources checked and also stock O/S.
Also have the Sony PC companion and the update service installed if this helps.
After some more investigating, there is a backup named rootme but when trying to restore it, it does nothing.
Any help would be fantastic thanks

If you have unlocked the bootloader there is no need to root, just flash an insecure kernel.
I suggest dookmernel, find it in the dev section

Just flashed v2 of the kernel using flashtool and it seems to randomly reboot and crash and be quite laggy etc for some reason.
Do you have any ideas what's going on with it?
Do you recommend any other kernels to try?
I would have posted in the DooMKernel but as i'm still under 10 posts i don't have the privilege ffs
Thanks
Edit: Now the phone will not turn on at all and there is no respose from it.
Could it now be bricked?

Any chance you could make an FTF, im guessing yours is unbranded / SIM free?
I want to remove the o2 branding from mine.. .
Theres a guide on how to create FTF files, but it does mean you will have to restore your phone to stock...no worries if not, im sure a Generic Global FTF will appear shortly.

A quick note on root, it works fine, but, there are some residual issues:

Even if i mount /system as RW... a few seconds later, device reboots...?
I'm on O2 UK Branded firmware.
[Bin4ry]
Yes thats what it does. It has nothing to do with a faulty root, it is just a security option on the Xperia T which should prevent modifications to the System partition. When i have time i will take a look and tell which daemon on device it is so we can kill the daemon and modificate the system partition.
Regards
Ok, i rooted my Xperia T with the above method but when i change something in the System folder the phone Reboots and puts it back to how it was
any ideas??
Build 7.0.A.1.303
----EDIT----
Working perfectly now. I just installed V13.
Use V13, i restored my phone completely using PC companion, then re-rooted, i can mount /system as RW, replace files etc..all ok.
Worked for me.

Read the all in one thread in the Q&A section. All your answers are there.
Briefly.
You can easily get a free unlock and easily root if you dont want to unlock.
You can easily flash stock sony firmware without unlocking or rooting.
Basically read the all in one thread and ask any questions there

Read the thread, NO
You have to downgrade to ICS, root, instal CMW for LB and then flash a prerooted stock JB rom
This has been said many times and is in the all in one thread
Xperia TL locked bootloader
Hi,
I rooted my Xperia TL with a locked bootloader, and I read somewhere that I can only install custom roms which are based on the stock rom. Is there anyway around this?
No

Didn't work on my T with .195, in either normal mode, or 'new' mode.
Also tried to downgrade to 303 but that didn't work either, Flashtool gives an error.
Anyone know if you can use the OTA upgrade to root, and then downgrade back to 195?
You are using the wrong version.
Upgrade to JB then use the latest version

I really don't want JB though. I don't like the changes to the UI

Did I just brick my device?

So, I've rooted and installed CWM.
And I've tried to install the JB AOSP. After installing, my phone does not turn on. When I long press the power button, the phone vibrates but that's it. Which has me thinking that it's a soft brick. Also, the notification light turns green when I enter flash mode, my computer also detects a device, so I think there is hope.
I run a locked bootloader by the way, is that where I went wrong?
So, should I use the flashtool? I don't know what to do, please someone help me.
Yes that Rom needs an unlocked boot loader.
Just flask a stock ftf, or repair in pccompanion, or unlock your bootloader and flash the Rom again
Now I have answered your question, guess which section it should have been posted in

Another answer to your question is
Run Pccompanion then run software update. When it says you already have the latest software then click on repair phone.
However, this will not work if you have unlcoked your bootloader, if you do that you can just flash the rom again and it will work.
By the way, the screen does not turn on. Is that a problem?

no (Maybe), turn it off, and repair in pccompanion, the hone just needs to go into flashmode

Went into flashmode then connected to the pc. A "repair my phone" option showed up and the file is now downloaded.
So that basically solved my problem. Thank you, and thanks to everybody who helped.

[Q] Xperia T LT30p Imei restore

I was just wondering if any one can help me restoring the imei on to my xperia lt30p. i think this is a prototype model. I only got imei once when i flashed LT30at_7.0.B.1.152_ATT rom. But soon as inserted a sim card and rebooted it vanished again. I have the kernel.elf file which i cant flash as the boot loader is locked. I have tried flashing various different roms but no joy. Sorry for being a nobo

On the IMEI Page what does it say
Go to settings
Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI
and if its somthing like 000000x or some obvious fake imei then ya
and where did you buy the device and when did the problem start?
I know that i can be potentially done using a program called QPST (which can be found on the Internet), you need to change the phone USB Settings to RMNET + DM + MODEM (Galaxy s3 has a menu for it, i don't know if xperia has one but anyway it can be done using terminal by manipulating files at /sys/class/android_usb/android0/) and finally you need a windows driver that cloud allow communication between windows computer running QPST with the phone in diagnostic mode (I don't know if driver can be found on the net, let me know if you found one).
so it seem that the main problem will be the windows driver.
You can flash the kernel as long as it is a stock kernel from Sony

We are a phone recycling company and this phone was sold to us by a customer and when we sold it to another buyer of ours, may be i believe he had tried some custom rom, there was no imei inside it. i mean *#06# shows a black imei. I found in some forums that, since the imei is prototype series, unless the phone is flashed with a prototype firmware which is not available in the internet. The imei wont recover. Other on the same series have exactly the same problem. But at at least they were able to unlock their boot loaders and able to flash a stock kernel.but since my boot loader cant be unlocked. I always get the message in flash tool that the phone needs to be rooted 1st before i can flash a kernel.
I had once got the imei back by flashing a AT&T firmware, but after i rebooted the imei vanished again

i have a kernel which i believe can restore the imei back, but it is elf format and for that my boot loader needs to be unlocked, which is not allowed. But a really strange thing is when i try to check by boot loader status the moment i click configuration under service menu. the service menu just hungs and crashes. Its only once i managed to get inside never after that. no mater how many time i have re flashed it

Yes it is
You can flash stock kernel.elf with a locked bootloader
But how. Every time I try that I get a message that the phone needs to be rooted 1st. I have rooted the phone using binary4 28. Have also installed Cwm also. But still keeps getting the error message

to flash kernel you need to be in fastboot mode
When it says rooted in this case it means unlocked bootloader, because you are trying to flash to the boot partition it is saying your boot I'd not rooted.
What this means is that the kernel you are trying to flash is not a stock kernel, it had been decompiled and modified in some way by someone.
But my point still is true, you can flash a STOCK kernel that is in .elf or .img format if you have a locked bootloader

Not much.
But the server for setools has not been online for nearly a year, so I suggest that is not a probable solution anymore.

[Q] XPERIA Z messed up after unlocking bootloader

Hello guys.
I got my hands on my SONY XPERIA Z 2 weeks ago. Then I updated it to the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 immediately.
3 days ago, I got the 2.67 update. Next up, I decided to root my device. So I googled "XPERIA Z C6602 10.3.A.2.67 root".
I don't know what the number was, but the last 4 digits were 2.67, the latest update actually.
In time, I noticed that I had to unlock the boot loader first.
So I d/l'ed the Minimal Fastboot & Adb from the XDA and had gotten my Key through the SONY UNLOCK BOOTLOADER service.
I ran the minimal fastboot & adb then unlocked the phone. I ended up a data-wiped XZ after the operation as the 13-page application menu had gone and a 3-page one remained from stock XZ Jelly Bean firmware. That was normal actually, but the thing is that I ran the UBL operation on my smartphone solely to ensure that I have a BL unlocked smarty.
What I got after the second time unlocking was, um, SONY & XPERIA splash screen and then multiple reboots. Thus, I did some googling and noticed how to switch off the unit, using VOL+ & Power method. Now every time I boot it up, it keeps rebooting over & over.
As you all know, I cannot update/repair it through SUS or PC Companion as it's BL unlocked & EMMA is unavailable in my area.
I couldn't find a 4.2.2 C6602 Stock FTF but a 4.1.2 FTF to use with my XZ. I have to use Androxyde Flashtool.
Will this kind of downgrade kill my BLU'ed smartphone or can anyone help me out uploading the C6602 4.2.2 Global Generic FTF stock firmware or a link? Are there any other ways to relieve my phone?
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
Additionaly, I've seen guys having the same problem because of other reasons, say, turning Airplane mode on.

i know it's too late, but you don't need to have an unlocked BL to get root. And i hope you did a TA-backup, so that your drm keys aren't lost forever.
Downgrading won't harm your device.

[Q] Rooting ZR + TA partition backup

Hi,
I have a Sony Xperia ZR (C5503), with stock android 4.3.
My goal is to root it and backup the TA partition before unlocking the bootloader.
I found 2 ways to backup TA partition with a locked bootloader. Both methods however require me to root my device first.
The first one redirected me to DooMLoRD's root rool
However, when I try to use it, it gets stuck waiting for device. I made sure:
- adb was running correctly (ZR drivers)
- USB-debugging was enabled
- Unknown sources was enabled
- Tried both MTP and MSC (USB connection mode)
Eventually I gave up trying.
The second one redirected me to Root MANY ANDROID!, which is unforunately incompatible with the ZR.
Now my questions are:
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong when trying to use Doomlords tool?
Does anyone know another root tool which works with a locked bootloader?
Does anyone know a way of backing up the TA partition without root access?
Thanks in advance

Hi friend, use prerooted 4.3 available in Android development forum of ZR.
It will not require you to unlock bootloader. It is very easy but carefully read all instructions.
