Does HTC One have same delayed notifications on WiFi as One X? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody recall that the HTC One X had a problem where push notifications would often not arrive on WiFi if your screen was off, even when WiFi was set to always on? Can anybody who currently had a One confirm whether this bug is still present?
Or do notifications come in instantly as they should while on WiFi?

Wifi driving me crazy!

I posted this in the general forum but got no replies. Is there any way to use direct push without it turning wifi on all the time? Every time I make a phone call or loose reception wifi switches itself on. It is extremely annoying. I am constantly turning it off and almost every time i take my phone out of my pocket wifi is back on. Does anyone else get this? Can I tell direct push to only use the cellular data connection? I know it is direct push because if I enable it the problem goes away. Please help!
Am I seriously the only one with this problem? Cause its drivin me nuts. When I turn wifi off, I want it to stay off. No suggestions?
push should automatically alternate between data and wifi. it gives wifi priority before data.

What what what? Your wifi turns on auto? Never heard such thing neither ever happened to me. Seems too odd since in the kaiser wifi only turns on when you activate via key combo or in the control panel! Don't u mean ur data conn is always switching on? Maybe it's cause of the rom you have!
uh use your imagination dude.
It automatically goes to wifi if it's on.
ChumleyEx, That's not the issue here.
The issue is that WiFi automatically turns on after a call, when it was OFF beforehand. JKingDev confused the issue in his OP.
The problem is not exclusive to the Kaiser either. My HTC Vox (WinMo 6.1 Standard) is doing the same thing.
Until reading this thread, I hadn't made the relationship between push activesync email and wifi being automatically turned on after a call. I still have yet to confirm that the issue exists without Push ActiveSync enabled.
One further peice of information - it only seems to be an issue after WiFi has been manually turned on at some stage of the phone's current power-on session.
i.e. If I reboot the phone and don't turn WiFi on manually, I can make/receive calls without Wifi turning on automatically.
Once I turn wifi on then off again, then make/receive a call, Wifi will automatically turn on after the call.
And it's very inconsistent as well, which makes this doubly frustrating. For example, I've just tried to replicate the issue using my examples above, and it's not happening now :-\
Perhaps it's only an issue after calls longer that 'x' seconds? Max call-time I tested was 13secs.

Are you on EDGE or 3G?
On EDGE while in a call the data will be put on hold. That could mean that if your call is long enough the push connection will timeout, and it will try to use Wifi to maintain connection (as the goal of push is for it to be constantly connected)?
Just thinking out loud, I've never used push myself.
Hello,
I'm experiencing the same problem since I "update" the Touchflow 3D with a communications tab. Before that I didn't noticed thi.

[Q] wifi won't stay off after official 4.3 update (AT&T)

As the subject says. Some time after I turn wifi off, it would come back on again. My phone is stock, no root or mod at all. This only happens after the 4.3 OTA update. Anyone know what causes this or how to fix it? I manually turn off wifi when driving because it would otherwise pick up cable company hotspots along the way, which is very annoying and not useful at all. At work I keep wifi off because the company wifi has firewall, and signal in my office is very weak. I'd rather keep wifi off to save battery.
Anyone has idea/suggestion? I originally thought it might be the sensorly app, but I've removed that and the problem is still there. I turn the wifi off, and about 30 minutes later when I check the phone, it's on again! Very annoying...
Settings, locations, turn off WiFi.

Maybe check your Locate/GPS settings. There is an option you can select/deselect that allows HTC to turn on wifi for locate purposes even if you have wifi off. Maybe Contact HTC if this is a new issue caused by the update.

WIFI not auto-reconnecting when in range

I used to have this issue on my S4 GPE 5.1 and thought it was a Samsung GPE ROM problem, but apparently it is not. When I leave WIFI range at home or at work, it disconnects, then when I get back in range, it does not auto-reconnect unless I pick up the phone and wake it.
This is very annoying. Has anyone experienced this and knows of or can suggest a solution? I already checked "Keep WiFi On during Sleep" and it is set to Always.
I am running N6 6.0.1 stock.
Thanks in advance!
I've noticed this too, but I can't produce it on a consistent basis, but it seems if the phone is sleeping when I get home (which is rare), when I wake it up I do notice it connects to wireless then.
I used to have this happen to me. I wonder if this is yet another undocumented feature of Doze? ... Anyway I installed the "WiFi Automatic" app and haven't had the problem recur.

Wifi connected notification.

I have a regular Z3 so let me know if this isn't happening on the play.
So whenever I connect to wifi the phone puts a wifi connected notification and to which network. I disabled all wifi notifications and it still does it. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of this permanently? It's not crazy annoying but I just hate seeing useless notifications show up randomly.

So, aside from the common touchscreen and proximity sensor issues, I'm getting this notification constantly that is driving me crazy. If I swipe it away it comes back many times per day. It can't be disabled. I've seen reports of it, but it's not widespread. I've not had this issue on any of my other phones, Samsung or otherwise. The only way to get rid of it is to turn off Wi-Fi Calling. I suppose it could possibly be an issue with the wireless in my home. I use an eero router system. But like I said, it works with all my other devices no problem. Anyone else get this?
what carrier?
so notification pops up only when the wifi-calling is on?
try this:
download samsung members app from galaxy store, click get help (bottom), send report. once you submit a ticket, samsung will be able to tell you what is causing the issue.
Yeah I hate that it does this

I'm on T-Mobile. And almost every instance I could find of this issue on a Samsung device (via google search), the user was also using T-Mobile. And yes, it only happens when WIFI calling is enabled.

Are you also on T-Mobile?
T-Mobile here, and also having the same issue. I just muted/Silenced all the notifications, but they still pop up in the bar.
I have seen it a couple of times at home (also on T-Mobile), but this past weekend, when using a car hotspot (AT&T), it kept showing up over and over again.
S20 FE Unlocked purchased from Samsung directly. Just transferred from Verizon to T-Mobile. At my home, cellular signal is so weak that the phone is basically unusable for calls. Wi-Fi calling is a necessity so I set the Wi-Fi Calling network preference to "Wi-Fi preferred". It doesn't take long for these notifications to show up when the phone changes back to "Cellular preferred" mode on its own. My work around is to turn on Airplane Mode, wait for it to engage, then re-enable Wi-Fi. This works to keep Wi-Fi calling active and stops the constant notifications. I just have to remember to de-select Airplane Mode when I leave the house. A big PITA.
When I was on Verizon the phone would remain in whatever network preference I selected without issue.
i have a workaround for this using tasker, the catch being that you need to have the android 11 (one ui 3.0) update. if you're still on android 10, the custom setting this watches for doesn't exist yet...it was only introduced in the android 11 update.
