Sure,
Semaphore kernel is excellent, he have excellent app that control any feature.
you can pick big mem that Increases ram.
semaphore
Well, that's where I am getting confused.
At the website of semaphore, There are 3 versions of kernels:
GT-I9000
GT-I9000 ICS
GT-I9000 JB
As far as I know, and that's not much (sorry!), I believe with my Android version (4.1.2), The right choice is the GT-I9000 ICS kernel.
When going for the GT-I9000 ICS option, I believe I see only really, really old versions, while current versions of this rom are in the range of 2.9.15:
Semaphore_ICS_1.3.0s.tar
So, confused, I believe to have the latest CyanogenMod, what Semaphore kernel version do I need to choose?
Again, your help is highly appreciated!

4.1.2 is jellybean, so you need JB kernel not an ICS one. So go to Semaphore JB and pick up latest kernel

1-just make full wipe (3 wipe)
2-root your device with CF root or by semaphore kernel 2.5 not 2.7.4
3-download cm9 to your sd card
4-flash it through cwm
5-then flash your favour ics rom

I am tempted to say RTFM.. There are plenty of tutorials, with all steps described. Just read a little, you'll be learning by yourself

do not assume any samsung kernel is safe until source is released for it and entropy512 says its safe...Dont do any wipes on this...downgrade using odin and follow the instructions to a tee there are many threads on how to do it

I Saw in at&t general theard that new at&t 4.0.4 kernel version is 3.0.8 but my DDLPA kernel is 3.0.15. Is there any difference? I mean which one better? Or all the same?

Why would you be using an AT&T kernel? This is the international galaxy note section.
No I just want to know what is the difference? I mean if a phone kernel version is 3.0.15 and another 3.0.8. What is the different between the kenals? For example 3.0.15 is newer.?

This corresponds to linux kernel version. The 3.0.15 is newer than 3.0.8.
You can check out www.kernel.org and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel.
Thanks. I understand now. :good:

It is not necessary to use root kernel to root, check my sig. for rooting guide by Dr.Ketan.
But if you want to be on safe kernel after root, then use either of the Notecore or Speedmod kernels. You can also use Hydracore universal kernel, it can be used with all kind of roms.
Hi ive just downloaded the GL_NOTECORE_v12_STD kernel and plan to flash it in pda section of odin on my pc. Will this be safe and work on my firmware?
Thanx

Yes it's safe. You can interchangeably use any kinds of ICS kernel as it does not have any bearing on what firmware you have as long as your on 4.0.4 ICS
Re flashing kernels :
You can use PC odin if you don't mind the yellow triangle custom flash logo on your boot up.
Can be removed via triangle away on Play Store.
Otherwise use mobile odin pro the device to flash the kernal.

Ok, my question is I want to update my Galaxy S I9000 with the new Cyanogenmod 10.1.0 the RC build or the Stable version that is coming recently and I want to update Semaphore Kernel 2.9.24 or 2.9.24s over that.
So, will it be safe to use Semaphore over CM???
Is Semaphore compatible with Cm?
HELP!!!

yes just flash semaphore from recovery
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda app-developers app
Yes, semaphore kernel is very safe even with 10.1 cm, and it is compatible with both the version 2.9.24 (reccomanded by dev) and version 2.9.24s with 397 mb of ram, my version (provided you flash the bigmem patch to not have problems viewing and recording 720p)
