hi everyone ...
i am going to flash JonROM ...
I just want to asked is it correct way that i flash my galaxy note?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179332
1.Flash LSF PhilZ 4.87 kernel
2.Wipe data, cache, dalvik, format /system /preload
3.Install rom
4.reboot
5.set up the phone
6.Back to the recovery
7.flash SpeedMod k5-1
8.reboot
Is it Correct?
Or directly flash speedmod k5-1 first?
:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Hmmm i would do it differently.
1 install a random kernel that comes with cwm as recovery.(using odin)
2 flash superuser (root!) (after that just do a reboot to verify su app is installed).
3 in cwm BACKUP!!!!
4 in cwm factory reset/wipe + in advanced clear dalvik cache.
5 flash rom of your likings (+gapps).
6 flash kernel of your likings (if u must, i woulnd)
7 reboot
For step 1 id go with abyss kernel.
Which is around somewhere on this forum, or look around at rootgalaxynote.com
Goodluck and have fun.

when you flash a rom it will clean the old kernel and flash its own kernel. so if you want another kernel.. it has to be done after flashing the rom.. i would say your way is right but what rom are you on right now?

I have I9000 international and have flashed ICS Alpha 6 via CWM recovery and then the kernel but I can't get beyong the first logo screen. Please help me out. I have tried Alpha 4 also but the result was the same. Below is what I did.
1. Flashed latest XXJVT rom via ODIN.
2. Flashed Semaphore 1.8.2 kernel.
3. Flashed ICS Alpha6 rom via CWM recovery
4. And, flashed FuguICSi9000update.zip.
Please help me as I desperately want to try ICS on my I9000.
Thanks for the upcoming help!
Wipe dalvik cache, factory reset
I have tried this too. I am not a newbie. I usually flash my phone once in a week to try different custom roms but I don't know why I am not successful with this one.
Hello,
Can you go to the recovery and try flashing the zip file again.
I have just repeated everything from scratch after flashing brand new JVT rom but still of no use.

1. Flash XXJVT
2. Flash cf root or semaphone any kernel with cwm
3. Wipe data, cache and davik
4. Flash ICS Alpha 6
5. Enter recovery (If it boot loop take out battery)
6. Wipe data, cache and davik
7. Flash ICS Alpha 6
8. Flash FuguICSi9000update.zip
9. Reboot
Like miui, cwm3 seems to have problems flashing. When you flash in the first time on ICS Alpha 6, it will not work but cwm3 is updated to cwm5. Then you flash again should work already.

thank you very much!
I managed to install without problems
I have to post here because I can't post in the direct thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940
How do I actually install this? I've flashed ROMs before and I assume I can flash this one through CWM but it doesn't say what base OS you need to have running on the phone in order to flash it.
What rom are you currently running? If you are running one of the ics asop roms then I think you are good to go

I Suggest if you come from Stock ROM
Flash a Kernel with CWM (CF-ROOT kernel with Addon, my Favorite) with Odin/Heimdall
Boot into CWM Recovery Mode
WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET
WIPE CACHE PARTITION
Flash latest CyanogenMod (be sure, you do it with full version)
Boot into CWM Recovery Mode
WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET
WIPE CACHE PARTITION
Flash the DarkKnight ICS
Have Fun !
I know it isn't the Best Way, but it surely will do if you like that !
Don't forget to thanks [if it useful was for you]

I was more asking which ROM to come from.
I ended up flashing 2.3.5 JVT and then this over the top of Semaphore kernel.
Hi Folks,
Iam currently running KingDroid v3 on my note with franco kernel 3.0.15 and would like to install Rocket Rom v7. I have kingdroid overclocked and is running very smooth and fast execpt it reboots every now and then (very rare). I am wondering if rocket v7 can be overclocked or would I need to install franco kernal after installing it?
As far as I know I would need to do the following to install Rocket Rom v7:
1 boot into CWM rocovery
2 factory reset, clear cache, clear dalvic cache
3 reboot recovery
4 install rocket rom
5 install superuser through cwm if I loose root after install
Did I miss something? Pls let me know.
Cheers,
Farhan
anyone?
1 Boot in recovery
2 wipe cache + wipe dalvik cache ( optional u can run jbroid kernel cleaner script)
3 Flash abyssnote kernel
4 reboot back in recovery!!!!
5 full wipe (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats)
6 Flash the new rom
U should not loose root but if that happens on the first page of Rocket rom there is a file named cwm super su. Download that and flash it in recovery as you would with anyt rom and y should have root back

Once you have successfully installed RR v7, the abyss kernel will be replaced by the kernel in RR v7. If you want you can flash franco kernel. Abbys kernel is for GB rom only.
i wanted to do data factory reset
im on paranoid android v0.5 having some probs with it
so i decided to hav a fresh install of th same rom with all 3 wipes
so vich version out of the 4 abyss kernel shd i use?
1)AbyssNote kernel 4.2 Final CW Touch Custom Logo
2)AbyssNote kernel 4.2 Final CW Touch Original Logo:
3)AbyssNote kernel 4.2 Final RedPill Touch Custom Logo:
4)AbyssNote kernel 4.2 Final RedPill Touch Original Logo:
People tend to use RedPill so you see the difference when you've rebooted into recovery therefore you know you're on a safe kernel....
I tended to use: AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo
Although now for uber safety (And paranoia) I tend to downgrade to GB and do all my wipes and FR's in there, Then approach things afresh...
No need to use abyss. Since cm9 is a safe kernel.

1) install paranoid v0.5
2) install gapps
3) wipe data factory reset
4) wipe cache partion
3) wipe dalvik cache
is this th way i can go? js asking to b sure
I too use: AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo, have not run into any issues.
I have run with issues . In the abyss recovery ext SD card doesn't show up. I was struck on the recovery luckily I had nandroid backup so I restored it . I don't know what would have happened if there was no ROM to flash and I finished all three wipes . It was awkward. Luckily I came out of the situation. But cm9 and speed mod is safe to make three wipes. But are they safe to flash cm10 ?

I hear that SpeedMod is a safe kernel to wipe on - Although as mentioned earlier I have not tried, despite running SpeedMod

Yes CM9 is safe to install CM10 but not Speed Mod
Question
Does have a difference between come back to 2.3.5 and then install rom or just make the wipes (data/cache/dalvik) in a safe kernel and install rom too?
Tks!
i really need help on those Root Gurus out there.

Okay heres the thing , I want to flash a new roms and I did the same old thing
Wipe data/Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Go to advance screen and wipe dalvik cache
Install zip from sd card - > choose zip from sd card. Find your ROM in the extSDcard.
Flash the ROM and reboot system.
While flashing , it took so long to actually flash like 10mins or so and I give up and I did a hard reset.
Can anyone point to me where did I do wrong ?
And I'm trying to flash this

Just download Hydracore, go back to recovery and flash it... Then go advanced options and reboot recovery.. After that wipe everything again and flash the new rom... Stay away from franco kernel that's way outdated and doesn't work with anything
Tapatalking on my n7000

i tried flashing hydracore and it took for me 10mins plus at the screen and still at the same place.
you tried to flash hydracore, and its not installing ?
may be try to flash back the stock ICS using odin and then flash Philz kernel to gain root
.boot into recovery and go to mounts & storage.
format / sytem
format / data
then try to install your TMT rom
If TMT is installed, Or even part installed then it wont boot with Hydracore kernel, The main thing is just having the kernel installed cause its safe, So, In recovery (with Hydracore installed)
Do all the necessary wipes, Flash the ROM, Then flash the kernel (Philz kernel)
then it should boot
If not, follow the above post to revert back to stock ICS / GB with odin, and then start the whole procedure again :good:
