Hi Everyone,
I have a weird problem. I tried installing skype from play store yesterday and DSPPack for player Pro and ever since i am having this weird problem.
1) When i plug in a Headset/Earphones the phone does not recognize it. The Audio from the phone calls continues through the earpiece and Music is routed to the Speaker
2) When i restart the phone with the Headset/Earphones plugged in, all the audio is played only through the Headset/Earphones (removing them the audio is not routed back to the earpiece or Speakers)
3) I found this app called SoundAbout, using this app i am able to switch between the Earpiece/Speaker and Earphones/Headset.
Can someone guide me as to how to fix this problem. I have done factory reset twice already but of no use
Thanks and regards
Sanjay

I'm on stock JB retail.EU too. I tried the features that make you problems to find out whether I've got any issue. Both video and Skype through headphones work normal, sound is transmitted via headphones. I don't use any market video player I suppose that you use MX Video Player. Try with stock player, you'll have excellent and smooth video playing. If you want to use other player because of subtitles, I recommend BSPlayer.
But what is important for the beginning is to eliminitate possible cause of your troubles. I suggest you to try these:
1. Inspect how are headphones connected. Thin click is to be heard when connected right. They shall not be inserted less and not beyond this click.
2. If you have bluetooth headphones or you can borrow them (stereo not calling headset) try whether you have the same problem with them.
3. Remove video player and check if the problem still exist with Skype.

1) The problem is not related to Hardware, otherwise SoundAbout would not work
2) Same problem with blue tooth headphones
3) I have removed skype, Player Pro
I installed Player Pro and not MX Player
I even made a factory reset (Settings - Privacy - Factory data reset).
I again made a factory reset now and as i mentioned before... the phone does not detect anything plugged into the Audio Jack. If i restart the phone with something plugged in the audio jack, all volume is routed only through the audio jack (if remove the plug, there is no audio from the earpice or built in loudspeaker) and i have to restart the phone again

Then is it obviously that you have problem with the system (JB or kernel). As I mentioned I have the identical system and no issues with voice switching. You could try to flasIt the JB once more but I wouldn't recommend. Since you have practicaly new phone the most logical solution is to bring it to the service. Its better that the service take the risk of succesful flash and it is usually done really fast.

When I play music with headphones on it comes through the headphones + the speaker on the phone..
I assume something is wrong, Ive tried two different sets of headphones and same results, made sure its pushed in all the way etc....
is my phone faulty? or I am doing something dumb?
cheers
the same happens with bluetooth, but it is only for MEDIA sounds
the actual phone call will get only routed to the bluetooth headset/car
i think it's a bug in the software, that it forgets to turn off the phone speaker when something else is connected
Are you running froyo beta?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
No, why? is it fixed in froyo?
It is a pretty nasty bug... can't listen to music quietly anywhere..
Huh? It's fine here..
Which firmware are you using.. Maybe something is corrupt..
I'm using xfjm5, anyone else see this issue or should i say hear this issue?
@allgamer, do you get this with headphones too? or just with bluetooth?
Btw, are you using VOIP.. Because voip might cause issues (as well as some other programs, or sound quality hacks).
Is that JG5 version a pre-release or official release?
I'm using JM5 atm and I don't have that issue with the headphones or the bluetooth stereo headset. I only seem to have that problem when I'm using the bluetooth headset and the Copilot nav. The instructions from the nav come through both headset and speaker
From my Galaxy S loonie-phone
I have the same problem. But it used to work fine. My phone has frozen while I tried to connect my bluetooth car kit (parrot mki 9200) and I had to perform a factory reset. Since this time, Media sounds plays through the speaker and the bluetooth headset at the same time.
My firmware version is : I9000XXJG1
I hope it will be fixed in the final froyo firmware.

I don't the issue. It should not happen.

I think its a bug in firmware, I had it happen a few times when I receive call while listening to music, After call the music plays on speaker even with headphones on. I just unplug head phones and plug it back in and it goes away. Havn't had it happen since I moved to JM8 from I think JM1
I know porting ICS and JB on I9000 was difficult, but since it got ported and I switched to ICS/JB (currently running Slim Bean 2.6), I tried installing different roms on my phone and I stumbled on the same problem. I'm using a pair of bluetooth headphones (DELL BH200). On 2.3.7 (darky 9.5 if I recall correctly) they were running perfectly fine, and the call function had no issues. Since the update to JB/ICS, bluetooth connects correctly, the multimedia buttons work, but when I'm recieving a bluetooth call, I can hear the tone in the headphones, I can answer the call, but both the microphone and sound in headphones don't work (bluetooth selected in call app). Sometimes (depends on the rom), if I try to switch to speaker or phone headphone the call just crashes or the switch doesn't happen at all. So, what I am asking is: is this a common problem ? Is there a fix ? Would a clean install help ? Or should I revert to 2.3.7 (I'd rather stick to JB or ICS for the small drawback of not being able to use my headphones as a handsfree device)

give this a try.
I did. Still not working. Maybe I should explain the problem again: the headphones work at recieving audio while using the phone as media player, and I can hear the system sounds until I try to call someone or someone tries to call me. At that moment they stop working all together until I reconnect them. It's almost like the system can't switch from phone headphones to bluetooth and it would't use any of them until I disconnect the headphones. Similar to a windows sound driver crash that needs restarting. Maybe it's just the dialer/phone app or the modem. Can I flash a GB modem while using a JB rom ? Or are there any bluetooth drivers that can be replaced with older ones ? I'm not sure it's a driver problem. I'll try calling over skype.
Skype call over bluetooth doesn't work either.

I would try to install a GB modem onto my phone, but, will it influence in any way the bluetooth interface ? Also, can I safely flash a 2.3.6 modem onto a JB rom ?
I have a problem with my unrooted Xperia Z with a locked bootloader. My main speaker does not work for any media like music games or videos, but works fine for loudspeaker calls. Also the earpiece speaker doesnt work at all. Another problem i found was that my microphone would not work at all unless it was in a call and i was using loudspeaker. The final problem is that when ever i plug in my earphones, google now pops up and sometimes my phone starts playing music automatically throught the earphones, when i remove the earphones, instea of stopping the music continues but the speakers dont work so it just keeps playing them silently. If anyone knows the soultion to this, please respond as ive searched everywhere and i have not found one solution yet.
UPDATE: i used the application soundabout to reroute the audio and the calls are now fine, the only problem is that when i plug in my earphones the google now problem persists. If i plug in earphones with a mic, i dont get any of these problems and everytime i want to use my internal speaker for media, i have to manually re-route the audio to them. Anybody know a solution to these 2 problems?
I do have the exact same problem, I tried different ROMs and Audio Mods (at the moment I've got a stock ROM) without any change.
Did you somehow fix it?
Exact same problem, i run stock android 5.1.1 build 10.7.A.0.222 locked boot loader. Problem suddenly came up last week during vacation, quite some time after I did OTA upgrade to 5.1.1 - so this is not related to ROM updates.
After installing soundabout (thanks for the hint) the rerouting did not work immediately - i had to set phone to earpiece and media to speaker in the app and reboot for it have an effect.
I think the root cause is, the phone thinks there are headphones connected, when there really aren't. If I use the UKW radio app, it starts and shows headphones as output-icon right away - it should actually complain that there is no reception without phones because the antenna (headphone cable) is missing. Since it doesn't complain I guess that's the culprit.
Any hints how to fix that, without using a rerouting app? (kinda stupid, using bluetooth speakers and so on now needs a manual setting change in soundabout).
I have that phone for more than 2 years now and used headphones maybe twice with it, so a busted headphone-jack is out of the question too.
Guys give it a try.
Thanks Ess Arr, that really works!
Hello All,
Recently my HTC One's headphone jack has stopped working. I've tried multiple pairs of headphones, and when I play music, it comes out of the speakers.
Any solutions? I've tried factory resetting, force closing Play Music and Soundcloud, and turning on/off beats audio.
Thanks!

You already have a thread here with the same info why creating another one? If no one answered your question, just bump your thread, no need to create another one
If no headset are working in your phone it looks like your audio jack has failed. Are you running any custom rom/kernel? If yes return to stock and check if the problem persist, if yes then its probably broken --> send it for repair.

you can always send it for repair but it will cost money, unfortunately.
What about using Bluetooth headsets?

I'd rather fix it myself or order a new phone. As for the bluetooth headset, I am not a fan of Bluetooth headsets.
After a factory reset, cache wipe, and reboot in safe mode, nothing seems to work. However, I've found a workaround in the SoundAbout app, but do not like the application wasting space in my app drawer and changing settings from headphones to speaker is a pain. I am almost certain this is a software issue. Hopefully it gets fixed in the 5.0.2 update.
I have a serious problem with Bluetooth audio.
I have really good headphones, but they are quite old and there's no support for ldac or aptx (just sbc). However I'm coming from Huawei P20 Pro and I never had any problem with audio quality on that phone.
And what exactly I mean? When I'm listening the music I can hear occasional drops of audio bitrate. It's extremely annoying. And no, I'm not using different Bluetooth devices (but I was able to do this with Huawei which had older Bluetooth version [!]), everything about multiple output is disabled, that option in developer's menu is set to 1.6. I'm out of ideas and pretty disappointed that premium device like Note 9 have problems with basic functions like this.
Ps. It's not a problem with my device. Same thing is happening on my friend's Note 9.
connect headphone via Bluetooth then go to
developer mode enable it/Bluetooth audio codec/(select the code you needed)
At what volume do you listen via bluetooth?
I have the same issue with my car receiver and noticed that if i play it at max volume i experience that and if i play it at a slighty lower volume, one or two steps from max, the issue is gone (or so i hope) for now it seems it is resolved by lowering the volume from max, or it is fixed in CSC1

I do not know about the OP but in my case regardles if it is a streaming service (deezer) local files (mp3) and sometimes with call audio, it does that.

No. I'm not using any streaming services. Just FLAC or 320kbps AAC files ripped directly from CD.

I'm not listening on max volume, but sometimes it's close (older or more niche music recorded and mastered properly).
Btw just tried listening on my dad's S8+ and it's the same, so Samsung generally has something broken with sbc codec which is rather disappointing.
Btw, I'm using European Exynos model.
That's probably why Samsung still includes the headphone jack with their phones. I don't use bluetooth that often, except in the car and I don't recall experiencing any issues with it. Maybe I don't pay attention to it, but I will this time and see.
