Evening all.
I have upgraded my v1615 to 6.1 and I am having problems sending emails from my goooglemail account set up in the device using imap.
I have set up the same account via pop3 and it works fine but with the imap set up it does not send emails.
any advice or help?
I have had this problem too, and it appears to be a major glitch in Windows Mobile 6.1...one that has no official fix but to delete the account and recreate it (yeah, that's not a fix at all, really)
Here's a blog entry that describes the problem and Microsoft's official "answer" to the problem: http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2008/09/18/windows-mobile-6-1-smtp-issues
seriously...
theres a thread in the same forum for this..did u really have to create another one???
Seriously did you have to reply with such a usless pointless reply.
I have found the other thread since posting this but could not find it before.
Do you think I would have posted this without looking first?
Thanks for your crucial input.

i did have to reply with my so called "useless pointless reply" as u so elequently put it!
this topic has been discussed more times than i can imagine..but im sure u knew that..since im sure u used ur uncanny search skills, which found u in a tight situation im assuming...
because after doing so im sure u found that no one here on xda has ever had such a peculiar an issue with imap and 6.1 as u have..
good luck finding ur answer!

Hi Guys
I agree there are TONS of threads on this forum, but somehow, not all of them describe the same steps (or maybe just that I'm a little too confused)
I have a stock unlocked N1 with FRF91 and would like to root my phone
Basically the whole idea behind rooting my N1 is to be able to use ShootMe (screenshot app)
Can someone please give me some step-by-step instructions on how to do it?
I'm actually a n00b at Android, so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!
I don't think there is a way yet with stock.

I'm glad we agree.
I'll give you a hint, though. You need to find two threads to do what you need. Both the threads that you need are in the first page of the dev forum. The mere act of glancing over the titles of the thread won't get you anywhere, try reading some of them for a change.
EDIT-I take it back, there's only one thread you need to find. And considering how prominent a position it's holding in that forum, it's plain obvious that you haven't bothered to look.

The whole point of these forums is to help people out, not to degrade them. They might be new to the site and dont know how its set up. Try not being a jerk and actually help them out. You know like direct them to the thread w/ a link.

Thanks buddy. I'll try to search a little more to see what thread applies for my situation at the moment.
I am sure that erikikaz must've gone through the thread that he/she thinks applies to me, but a link to it would've been a lot easier.

No, I didn't go through the thread before deciding to not link it. I just know that the thread is there. If you had looked for it, you would have seen it. The previously-mentioned thread has been stickied in the previously-mentioned forum for at least a week now. Considering that stickied topics are an obvious READ-ME-FIRST tactic, well, you should have known better and actually looked.
And yes, it would have been a lot easier--a lot easier for you, had I posted the link. Waiting for someone else to do the work for your is not how you learn.
I have been having lag issues since upgrading to 4.2
I been lurking around the post looking for answers but nothing I've tried has worked so far. There is lag everywhere- from the lockscreen to opening an app to closing an app to pauses and freezing in browsers (i use 4 diff browsers with no real preference), and tonight I was frustrated enough with the slowing buffering in the YouTube app that I'm now posting this.
If I don't fix this soon I'm just going to sell it. I put up with lag on my Samsung Fascinate for 2 years and I thought those days were behind me. Ugly lockscreens I can live with- lag I CANNOT.
I tried rebooting after update. I even shut down and let it sit awhile an hour later.
I tried clearing the cache from the new option in Settings
I tried some app from the market that adds blank files and delete them (cant remember what its called right now) EDIT: Its called Forever Gone and its in the Google Play store.
I don't have time to read thru tons of postings to find the answers- so hopefully I can get consolidated answers in this post.
I've never rooted or ROM'd this device. Its been flawless since the day I bought it until the update. I am not looking for people to chime in saying theirs works great. I just want helping on getting this device back to buttery smooth please.
EDIT: Thanks to idevice12345 post, I found that my lag problem stemmed from Google Current's sync feature. Turning that off in Google Current's settings and rebooting has fixed 99% of my lag. Hopefully that helps others-- getting help around these forums is a nightmare. Self appointed knuckleheads trying to derail our information highway.

I like 4.2 I just don't like the lag. I looked thru the threads for a couple days now. Just haven't dug deep as it takes alot of time. I can google too. p.s. I clicked your link. I'm not trying to downgrade- I'm trying to fix the lag. Can you google that one for me? I'm too lazy.
Hey mate, this isn't a "Post your question and we'll spoon feed you answers" forum. Saying that you don't have time to look for answers won't cut it.
As for lag, try to do a clean install.

I been around XDA a long time for a few of my devices. I came here for help. I don't have hours and hours to dig for weeks thru tons of postings. Like I said, I LOOKED for 2 days now.
I am genuinely asking for HELP. I don't want to downgrade- I want real post about what to try. I'm sorry that it is offending people. Your frustratred with my post and I'm frustrated just asking for help.
You guys are so uptight. Just want to hear from people with similar experience and workarounds or whatever it takes. I'm contemplating a factory restore but I have everything so dialed in the way I like it that i'm saving that as a last resort.

Okay, since your pretty much begging at this point, try this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kovit.p.forevergone&hl=en. If that doesn't help download stock 4.2 and backup your apps and re flash 4.2 and re install your apps one by one to see if one of them is causing the lag.

I am baffled that I am getting blasted for this. I re-read my first post again and besides sounding a little snotty because I wanted to get straight to the point (which I did), I don't see where anyone could think it was a hate on 4.2 thread.

How are you going to ask that but then not see his reply about him apologizing for not seeing it because he got the notification and came straight here. So get the hack out of this thread and quit trying to be cool by an attempted flame that already apologized AND answered your "flaming question" before you even ask it but then you ask why he didn't see something?

haha for real? here's a response formatted in the long run-on sentence structure that you like to use because I fear if I don't use it you won't get my point.
"How are you going to flame me but then go on to say that it's not cool to flame when you clearly don't understand what the point of pointing out this kind of lazy behavior is? So go troll somewhere else and quit trying to be some sort of pseudo mod by trying call out legitimate criticisms of other users because you don't understand that apologizing for doing something wrong while performing it doesn't make it right ESPECIALLY considering the facts the OP gave us about not turning his phone on for a week. Who would come on here and assume they are the first to get an update without thoroughly checking? and make a thread in the dev section so rashly? The OP would. So I called him out on it. So he won't be inclined to make the same mistake twice. I can only hope that this post will be as beneficial for you.
good day.

I really hate to be that guy, but this really doesn't belong in the development section.
Well hot dang....
I am currently on trip and have not turned on my phone on for the benefit of my family. I was in the airport when I first turned it on to see what I missed. Since it came up when I turned it on, I came here first as I've been dying for an update and I was willing to bet that others were in the same boat. I did what I would normally do with updates and download them and upload them somewhere for safe keeping. Then came here and posted my screenshots and moved on. It wasn't until I got into the plane that I saw that its been about a week, that its been out, and that development goes on with or without me. Sure I didn't have to apologize in advance and sure I didn't have to put the disclaimer at the bottom that if what i posted up was old news then please delete. I would of been fine with the thread being deleted or moved in which case it was. I've been here for so long and have contributed to numerous threads and development to know that if something new comes out, jump on it and share the info with the everyone. It wasn't to flame on the threads, it wasn't to spam and clutter the dev section. The mere fact that this happen show immaturity.
A simple note saying please move thread to general discussion would of suffice, not bring hatred and ignorance into a community that is devoted to acquire knowledge and to share it.
While some of us don't have that pleasure to get updates first, I have been blessed with having on time or in Moto case, Moto feedback team which I have always participated in. Again plain and simple I tried to help by providing info and supply for devs out there to work on. Yes It would of been simple for me to thorough look thru the threads and see whats been going on. And I did that after posting and did see that I was not first. Thats fine. It wasn't laziness that brought this, it was something that jumped on in the hopes to help out. But take the hatred else where as if your going to take offence in someone trying to help then you dont belong here, plain and simple.
I started this thread in hopes we could discuss the cleaning process of this new lollipop release. There's quite a bit of bloat that could be removed, but since this is new, it's hard to know exactly what could be safely removed without facing a bootloop or force close loop. Does anyone have a list of what can safely be removed from the lollipop release? I opened Root Explorer and searched around a little and there's a ton of knox related stuff in there, for example. A little polish bloatware apps as well.
EDIT: I apparently removed far too much in my cleaning attempt as I faced a bootloop and I'm now currently reflashing through Odin,

This isn't a question per se. A discussion, if you will. I edited the first post to reflect just that a bit more.
Not everything needs to be sweeped up and sent to the Q&A. This is a valid thread since so many users will face the same problem.
Why do you want everything moved out of the General threads section? I've never seen such aggressive mods who fail to promote activity on a board and actually stifle collaboration. They take the fun out of everything XDA stands for.
Just delete the folder of the bloat and than it should work faster, i would only want someone to create a custom kernel stock modified, becauss battery drain is bad xD

That's just it. Deleting too much makes me end up in a bootloop. I gave it a second go and ended up in another bootloop. It seems you can't just up and remove all knox related files (are they tied to something bigger?).
Hmm.

I searched for "knox" in Root Explorer and removed every file relating to "knox" (a couple of apps here and there and lib files). I guess that was the mistake; wrecklessly removing it all.

A, If its a question it needs to go in Q&A, doesnt matter how many people face the problem. if theyre searching like the rules tell them to theyll see it in q&a
B, he posed it as a question, hence i was pondering if its shouldnt be in Q&A, as thats where questions go he responded and said it was meant to be more of a discussion topic and he needed to rewords it. the reworded thread isnt a question but a collaborative effort therefore its not a question.
C, making people post in correct sections isn't a stifle on activity its promotion of common sense

To start can you post all things you deleted before getting bootloop ? and we can study all to see what can be deleted and what can not be

Regular safe bloat like Sammy crapware, and then all knox related files (I suspect it didn't like me deleting the knox files).

pay no notice to him, he trolls and talks to people like ****e.
Mods let him get away with it so nothing much you can do.

From what I can see, the Polish rom contains three non*Sammy apps: E-Kiosk, Sky Cash and some weird app I can't spell but it begins with an R.
Who trolls?

I haven't actually removed them yet, I've frozen them in titanium backup for the time being.
I've reflashed with odin two times so far and will not give it another try just yet.
