errors with 7.8 - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tired to updating my htc hd7. I mistakenly only put the language pack "England" english using seveneighter software but I need some help in restoring some functions and maybe updating to 7,8, currently on 7.5 but wifi doesn't open, texts don't open and sending emails won't open it takes me all back to the main menu...can anyone give me some help in restoring my phone's properties?

just install dynamics or deepshining and forget official roms... period!!

Text message retry HTC Diamond 2 uk edition.

Hi all,
Is there anyway to have the same option as was with the Touch Pro whereby if a txt didn't send it gave you the link to retry?
At present I have to go into the drafts folder to send it (when it informs me it didnt send!)
Would love to try a new cooked 6.5 if this fixed it, but still in warranty so i cannot risk it
Thanks in advance
Adi
Can't you backup your current ROM and try the 6.5 cooks? Knowing service centres, all they'll do is flash the phone anyway and claim to have "fixed" it no matter what the issue was. Hell, some of the techs probably come here for advice
Is it possible to backup a rom and restore even after a cooked rom has been installed?

Is O2 UK stock Rom Buggy?

Hi
I flashed NODO using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988672
But wasn't Happy with the key board being USA and I dont really Use Compy/paste
so decided to go back to O2 Rom and flashed this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957031 by schubert
The file got kicked off by Norton and I had to recover it from Quarantine.
Anyways the point I would Like to make is:
even though I have pre NODO again now . NOT once have my apps crashed like before or I had the need to reboot my phone like before and phones feels fast and ringtones sounds improved as it was when in NODO.
Has anyone tried going from NODO to pre NODO ?
would like to know your comments ( only people have unoffcial NODO update and gone back might be able to comment I guess)
I am so happy that I dont really care when the official NODO is out now
Not sure how buggy it is, but it is much older than the one you installed.
[ROM]RUU_Schubert_O2_UK_1.19.206.01_Radio_5.51.09.06a_2 2.30.50.09_Signed
[ROM]RUU_Schubert_O2_UK_1.68.206.03_Radio_5.63.09.13_3a _22.36.50.15_Signed
Quite a big difference in versions, so I'd imagine the firmware is less buggy. The operating system is the same version (7004 or 7008, if you updated via Zune) but obviously the OS communicated to the marketplace via the Radio. So perhaps the updated radio improves things.
New radio driver's usually giver better battery life, too.
EDIT: I too unbranded to the HTC_Europe firmware, but like you, the lack of a UK Keyboard irritated me, but no where near as much as the US voice that you get when doing voice searching.
I've been looking into whether or not i can transfer over the keyboard and voice files to the HTC_Europe ROM. I've a developer account with MS, so I can freely prowl the registry and file system and I have found the registry files pertaining to the UK voice (Microsoft Hazel, it's called) and what I believe to be the speech file itself. No luck on the Keyboard, however.
Not that the O2 firmware annoys me much. In fact, with a registry tweak to remove Yahoo Search in IE and removing mologo.bmp in the Windows folder you can't tell it's an operator ROM. It would just be nice to get updates as soon as they're released
Well from my experience my HD7 was shipped with ROM:RUU_Schubert_O2_UK_1.19.206.01_Radio_5.51.09.06a_2 2.30.50.09_Signed This ROM was seriously buggy, had many issues i.e. frequent marketplace crash, random reboot etc...!!
So I decided to flash a stock HTC ROM: RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.69.401.01_Radio_5.54.09. 21_22.33b.50.10_Signed
which already had NoDo OS 7389, this ROM was much better more stable however like you guys, the lack of a UK Keyboard irritated me!
Therefore I reverted to back to a newer O2 ROM: RUU_Schubert_O2_UK_1.68.206.03_Radio_5.63.09.13_3a _22.36.50.15_Signed which I was pleased to say was very stable and fast, then all I did was forced NoDo OS 7390 update via zune keep bare in mind prior to doing that I chevron unlocked it so that it stays unlocked even after the update!
I personally Can't seem to force the update via Zune... on my HTC HD7 on O2 UK, so I have kinda given up as I aint too keen on the update much as my Phone is quiet stable now
Yeah and I do have the newer radio as well ...
And I feel if MS keeps coming with the updates WP7 will rock..
cause from nokia symbian I became an Android Fan , but now am leaning more towards WP7
Sorry, i am a bit new to wp7 stuff,
-How to flash the rom with the new radio ?
-Should i make any backup, i keep my hd7 on sync with Zune, it will restore everything after i flash the new rom, right ?
right now i am on radio 5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09U
Firmware : 2250.09.11901.206
thanks in advance,
EDIT: ok, done a little search, flashed the rom and now updating it.

[Q] RomUpdateUtility Cant validate HD7?

I have an HTC HD7 and i just installed the HSPL on it.
I Downloaded the DFT Freedom Rom (Schubert) mango 7720 V2 version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340127
and when i open the romupdateutility and go through ll the steps i get stuck on the validation step and i get error 260. it states that it cant dertect the phone when it is really plugged in and working. it is chevron and redo unlocked. version 7.0.7390.0. Can anybody help me revise this problem...i really want mango.
I also tried reseting my phone and my computer and im still getting the same error
Im running windows 7 64 bit
is your device in the Bootloader?
Hi,
do you have the same error every time?
try to flash this stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984902
then re-install r/hspl and flash dft's...
hope you'll enjoy freedom rom!
I have a question regarding a similar problem once a custom rom is loaded. I want to avoid updating thru Zune and update from the RUU without it deleting my apps, email setup, etc in Bootloader Mode. Anyway to do that?
is your device in the Bootloader?
Yes, I go into the bootloader and can update but does a clean of the rom. I want to upgrade from DeepShining v 4.0 to 5.0 now without it erasing and reinstalling all my apps again. Is there a way to do that?
Nope, not how the WP7 devices work. Because of how WP7 sees the filesystem, it HAS to clear the memory every time you load a different ROM
Is there a way to backup the programs and such, do the update, and restore? I know the Zune software does that in the background when updating via it but is there a way for custom roms to do that?

[Q] HD7s woes seveneighter

I just got an HD7 to replace my broken HD2 and I wanted to update it before using it so I did the zune updates and then attempted to use seveneighter to update form 7.5 to 7.8. The updating was fine but then many features did not work email ,wifi, messaging plus more. So I restored the phone with zune but no joy this stuff still does not work. I hard reset and still no luck. So I would like to start over and load the original rom but have not been able to find a download. I am not sure if this will fix my problem thus I am asking for advice is this just a paperweight now. Can I reload the stock rom and start over , if so where could I get a copy pf the rom?
Many many thanks
More inforamtion
I have tried several times to run seveneighter again and and I get error 80180048. So it looks like the phone is missing some language packs. I have checked all packs available but this phone is a US at&t phone and it has many more packs listed than I can find available 50-60 different ones are listed on the phone. I looked at the manual cab installation thread and only 22 packs are available. I also tried the windows phone support tool and after running it the tool states cannot be recovered please contact technical support. I also tried the disconnect method on zune to force update the phone without result.
Just install Deepshining V8 or Dynamics V2.0, and you'll be fine, just be sure to downgrade the boot loader first.
PS: Don't ask me "how to downgrade" you can use the "SEARCH" function...
Look my signature, mine it's an AT&T too.

Ansar - cottula or anyone who can help!!!!!!

Here's my problem, i have an htc hd7 with windows 7.8 (Seveneighter) i had problems with my sms threads so i backed it up (zune) and hard reseted my phone, started from scratch!
i want to be able to unlock my phone and backup my sms from the above mentioned (backup) and compile it with the new thread after the backup.
FYI, i downgraded my bootloader and tried to upgrade through zune to get to 7.8 so that i coud restore my zune backup whilst my phone is unlocked, but i noticed that the bootloader changes after mango upgrade.
is there anyway that you can help me ?!!! plzz i would very much appreciate it !
This will sound harsh, but...
Idiot! every upgrade made by Zune always does an upgrade to the bootloader.
Forget the stupid official rom + unlock, that's trash at best for the average Joe.
Just downgrade your rom, and go for Deepshining or Dynamics and you'll be fine...:good:
BTW, are you asking for help from the big guns? really? Come on man, they are busy with more important business'.
Now, go downgrade that phone and install whatever rom you want, as long it's a custom rom.
regards.
hey man i really appreciate your input, but you till havent solved my problem. my main agenda is to be able to retrieve my sms thread from the backed up official rom onto the custom rom....is there anyway to do that???
a short and pragmatic NO
i was hoping you wouldnt say that man!!! this is terrible news however i very much appreciate your help on this.
cheers buddy!!
alright one more question then ill get outta your hair, i installed sms backup. i uploaded my .txt msgs to skydrive, is it possible to restore them directly from skydrive? or do i have to go through the process of backing up and restoring .vol files?????
