ok so I got my phone (xperia z)
rooted with easy rooting toolkit
Installed cwm recovery
Stupidly tried to flash a gnexus rom
did nothing still on stock
So i found the yuga cyanogen 10.1
tried to flash that
Wiped Data, Cache
Loaded
But it did nothing, and then when I tried to turn it on it vibrated but was otherwise unresponsive
When plugged into mains, flashing orange LED
When USBed, orange light, quickly changes to green light then off
ABSOLUTELY ZERO RESPONSE
tried everything suggested on here, I really have, wouldnt be wasting your time otherwise, but i'm really scared
On PC companion it just connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects continually with no device type recognition just 'phone connected'
PLEASE HELP
and also my mother is going to absolutely destroy me if i dont fix this. I was bugging her for ages for this phone, and now ive broken it :'(
If you keep the volume UP button pressed and connect the USB. (Do not press power)
Does it enter fastboot mode?
Kind regards, Stefan.

Download and flash a generic FTF file from your region, using flashtool.
Check the topic: [NOOBS GUIDE] Create your own stock firmware FTF & Flashtool flashing guide[+ pics]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188129
Check the part: Stage 4 = Flashing FTF.
That is after downloading a generic FTF file from your region, and installing the correct fastboot drivers.
This post belongs in Xperia Z General instead of Xperia Z Android Development, and should be stickied.
Very useful information by xl VipeR lx.
Kind regards, Stefan.
AW: Xperia Z unresponsive - possible bricked
Overkill. Either run a "repair" operation on PC Companion or reflash your phone with SUS, Sony Update Service. No point in flashing a FTF which doesn't originally belong to the phone.
@OP I'm guessing you haven't unlocked the bootloader which is probably why flashing CM bricked your phone. Relax... Xperias are very hard to brick, as schaggo said just repair with SUS and you should be fine. In future if you have any doubts just drop me a PM
Sounds to me like the reason you couldn't get CM to work is because you didn't actually flash the kernel like you are supposed to the first time. I assume this because all you say is you got cm10 and flashed it and it didn't work.
You are supposed to (for the first time flashing CM10):
1) download the .zip
2) extract boot.img from the zip
3) flash that boot.img in fastboot (put it in your fastboot folder, open cmd and use the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" then "fastboot reboot"
4) boot into recovery
5) now flash the .zip of cm10 as per normal.
6) enjoy the cyan goodness
My issue I am facing now is returning to my original stock firmware. Restoring the backup doesn't work, nor does getting the boot.img out of the backup folder and fastboot flash that. Well it all flashes and restore, but it won't boot. It's easy enough to get back to cm from there though:silly:

how do I put it in flash mode!? sorry but I'm really confused because it boots, but it stays stuck on "sony" screen!!!
With phone off, press volume down and connect usb cable connected to pc (drivers should be previously installed), when the led change color, release volume button. Done, you're in flash mode, now just flash tft (do it fast before your battery runs out)

Your phone has fastboot and FLASH modes.
Put it in FLASH mode (volume down) and the hit the lighting icon and flash a new firmware.
Don't worry, Sony phones are (almost) unbrickeable, just don't run out of battery.

Looks like the CM recovery.. You have a chance of making CM work if you put whatever it is you are trying to flash into your internal storage and not to sdcard..
Please give some more info on what you are trying to do?

Hi guys,
I need your help!
I have had a rooted Z3compact and i wanted it to unroot. But I did a mistake and now it looks like that the phone is dead.
What I did:
1. I wanted to unroot my phone. So I restarted it to enter the recovery menu. (pushing power button and loudspeaker buttons). Because of the fact that I rooted my phone the TWRP Menu appeared.
2. I entered the "Wipe-Menu" and selected all:

}
I dont want to select system, but I already pushed the button
I thought I can anyway at least enter the TWRP, but no!
When I now start the phone just the Sony Logo appears and that's all.
I already tried:
a. PC Companion -> Phone not detecting
b. Flash Tool -> Detects the phone but shows " This phone is locked"
-> This why the question to all of you. Is there a possibility to fix this?
THANK YOU!!!
Try using Emma

Hello as I wrote before I already tried "Emma or Flashtool" and unfortunately It appears "This phone is locked"
So I don't know what eslse I can do because I am not an expert.

Well, there is actually 2 completely unrelated tools that is both using the name flashtool.
In this case the unofficial Flashtool is what you should try as it can work on a phone with a locked bootloader as well.
So download this and try to flash a stock rom (make sure you select one that is compatible with your mode [l/B])
Flashtool can automatically grab the firmware and download it for you.
Please let me know if this works for you
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
So what you did is,since you have a locked bootloader, the recovery is actually located in the system partition,so then when you wiped it you removed recovery as well.
As @-Zteam- said try using the unofficial Flashtool and you should be good.
Hi Zteam thank you for this tip.
I installed the tool.
I connected the phone (I just connected the USB cable) and the tool shows "Device connected in flash mode".
When I do nothing after a while the phone starts (Sony Logo on display) and the tool shows "Device disconnected".
Can you give me a short instruction which steps I have to do?!
This would be perfect.
Thanks alot!

You want to select the ftf file you're going to flash, and then choose flash. It takes a while to become ready, perhaps its unpacking the file to be flashed (don't know why but it takes a fair bit of time). The phone will reboot during this wait as you've experienced. You can hold down the power button and the volume up button together for a number of seconds to power it off, unplug the cable, then replug it in flashmode again, or from memory you can just wait until the file is ready to be flashed, then plug the phone in flashmode in which case it isn't going to reboot because its powered off and disconnected.
One of those things will work, either not plugging it in until it tells you it needs to, after choosing to flash the ftf, or by forcing it off and back on in flashmode using the power button and volume button.
Hi,
the phone works again! Thanks to all!
For all who have the same problem
I really can recommend this tool. It is very easy to handle.
I managed to brick my ME375CL in my attempt to root it, it only shows the "Intel Inside" logo when I boot it up.
After much driver install/reinstall and cursing at my computer, I managed to get it to be recognized in Intel Phone Flash Tool.
I've read the instructions on doing custom flashes in blank phone mode for other tablets, but for the life of me, I can't figure out which file is supposed to go in which field.
I would greatly appreciate any insight into this that anyone can provide.
I already have the firmware downloaded.
This is where I am at:

Thanks for the reply. I've already read through that post and attempted the steps within. The problem is that I followed those steps and they failed, now it can only be recognized as an Intel SoC by my computer, so ADB, fastboot commands and Asus Flash Tool will not work.
The only programs I've gotten to recognize the tablet is Intel's Phone Flash Tool and Flash Tool Lite.
If you haven't yet, try using the boot, system and recovery images from the firmware you downloaded in the android section of the flash tool and see what happens.

I've tried all kinds of combinations in this software, but it always fails at either the IFWI step or gives me this error:
10/08/17 14:03:09.468 INFO : Port 5/1/1: Rebooting in Provisonning OS (current state = UNKNOWN_STATUS)
10/08/17 14:03:09.468 INFO : Port 5/1/1: Cannot Reboot android device, status is UNKNOWN_STATUS
Based on the reading I've done in other threads, the only way to correct this is through a firmware flash in blankphone mode, but it won't accept any of the IFWI files that I have found for this tablet.
I appreciate you trying to help, but I can't do what you are suggesting when it's not even being detected as an Android device. Fastboot commands will not work because there's nothing on the tablet for ADB to make a connection to.
Here's what happens when I try:
Here is what my tablet is doing:
When it's detected by Intel Phone Flash Tool, it usually has a blank screen. Otherwise, it just shows that Intel logo for about 15 seconds, reboots and then does it again, endlessly.
Oh, I forgot to mention that Asus support was kind enough to offer a repair or replacement for $155, since it's out of warranty. I'm hoping for a much cheaper option.
I have never seen the intel logo on mine? Have you tried booting the tablet in to fastboot mode by shutting it down and then turn it on by holding the volume up button and the power button? If you can get to fastboot mode, you should be able to use adb commands. Unfortunately, i am not familiar with the flash software you are using.
Friends, i think i did something really wrong..
I have this sony sp for a long time broken, but i fixed the screen and give it a chance to come back to life.. But i dont like the OLD android, and tried to install OREO on it... i remember it has already unlocked bootloader. So i installed twrp using adb commands, and could get into the TWRP ... so i just did a wipe system, cache ... bla bla bla..... but it was on stock rom... never flashed any rom on it before... so.... the rom didnt installed fine... got error
but the big big problem, i cant get into fastboot mode or flashmode... everytime i got into one of those, i got onlu for a few seconds and got a sony logo and cant do anything....
i tried to install the drivers again using flashtools drivers, and the driver wont install... i am on Windows 10 and dont know what to do ( i can install other drivers like sony z1 it Works fine)
tried to install it from device manager (my computer, add legacy hardware)
nothing seems to work... what i wanted to do is... get into flashmode, to install the stock ftf on it .... but it get only for 10 seconds, after that, sony logo and stuck...
heeelp me guys
are you sure it's battery is not very low?
Omg, just install flashmode drivers
did you keep pressing buttons after succesfully put your device into fastboot or flash mode?
Thanks for answering me :
1 - When i started to try to flash the rom, it was at 90% of battery
2 - I noticed that i was having problem to put it in fastboot mode and flashmode , somehow i could install TWRP using ADB commands.
3 - My phone was already getting recognized by xperia companion
4- when i got the problem try to flash ftf back but i am getting a loop, device disconnected and in flash mode... just blinking
5- TRY TO INSTALL Flashtool drivers in flashtool folder, but , when i choose, FLASHMODE and FASTBOOT MODE, and choose the "VISKIAN BOARD" that says the chipset for XPERIA SP i got this :
