Z3 compact destroyed after root/unroor trial?! - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I need your help!
I have had a rooted Z3compact and i wanted it to unroot. But I did a mistake and now it looks like that the phone is dead.
What I did:
1. I wanted to unroot my phone. So I restarted it to enter the recovery menu. (pushing power button and loudspeaker buttons). Because of the fact that I rooted my phone the TWRP Menu appeared.
2. I entered the "Wipe-Menu" and selected all:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
I dont want to select system, but I already pushed the button
I thought I can anyway at least enter the TWRP, but no!
When I now start the phone just the Sony Logo appears and that's all.
I already tried:
a. PC Companion -> Phone not detecting
b. Flash Tool -> Detects the phone but shows " This phone is locked"
-> This why the question to all of you. Is there a possibility to fix this?
THANK YOU!!!

Try using Emma

Well, there is actually 2 completely unrelated tools that is both using the name flashtool.
In this case the unofficial Flashtool is what you should try as it can work on a phone with a locked bootloader as well.
So download this and try to flash a stock rom (make sure you select one that is compatible with your mode [l/B])
Flashtool can automatically grab the firmware and download it for you.
Please let me know if this works for you
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php

So what you did is,since you have a locked bootloader, the recovery is actually located in the system partition,so then when you wiped it you removed recovery as well.
As @-Zteam- said try using the unofficial Flashtool and you should be good.

Hi Zteam thank you for this tip.
I installed the tool.
I connected the phone (I just connected the USB cable) and the tool shows "Device connected in flash mode".
When I do nothing after a while the phone starts (Sony Logo on display) and the tool shows "Device disconnected".
Can you give me a short instruction which steps I have to do?!
This would be perfect.
Thanks alot!

You want to select the ftf file you're going to flash, and then choose flash. It takes a while to become ready, perhaps its unpacking the file to be flashed (don't know why but it takes a fair bit of time). The phone will reboot during this wait as you've experienced. You can hold down the power button and the volume up button together for a number of seconds to power it off, unplug the cable, then replug it in flashmode again, or from memory you can just wait until the file is ready to be flashed, then plug the phone in flashmode in which case it isn't going to reboot because its powered off and disconnected.
One of those things will work, either not plugging it in until it tells you it needs to, after choosing to flash the ftf, or by forcing it off and back on in flashmode using the power button and volume button.

Hi,
the phone works again! Thanks to all!
For all who have the same problem

I really can recommend this tool. It is very easy to handle.

If you keep the volume UP button pressed and connect the USB. (Do not press power)
Does it enter fastboot mode?
Kind regards, Stefan.

Download and flash a generic FTF file from your region, using flashtool.
Check the topic: [NOOBS GUIDE] Create your own stock firmware FTF & Flashtool flashing guide[+ pics]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188129
Check the part: Stage 4 = Flashing FTF.
That is after downloading a generic FTF file from your region, and installing the correct fastboot drivers.
This post belongs in Xperia Z General instead of Xperia Z Android Development, and should be stickied.
Very useful information by xl VipeR lx.
Kind regards, Stefan.
AW: Xperia Z unresponsive - possible bricked
Overkill. Either run a "repair" operation on PC Companion or reflash your phone with SUS, Sony Update Service. No point in flashing a FTF which doesn't originally belong to the phone.
@OP I'm guessing you haven't unlocked the bootloader which is probably why flashing CM bricked your phone. Relax... Xperias are very hard to brick, as schaggo said just repair with SUS and you should be fine. In future if you have any doubts just drop me a PM
Sounds to me like the reason you couldn't get CM to work is because you didn't actually flash the kernel like you are supposed to the first time. I assume this because all you say is you got cm10 and flashed it and it didn't work.
You are supposed to (for the first time flashing CM10):
1) download the .zip
2) extract boot.img from the zip
3) flash that boot.img in fastboot (put it in your fastboot folder, open cmd and use the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" then "fastboot reboot"
4) boot into recovery
5) now flash the .zip of cm10 as per normal.
6) enjoy the cyan goodness
My issue I am facing now is returning to my original stock firmware. Restoring the backup doesn't work, nor does getting the boot.img out of the backup folder and fastboot flash that. Well it all flashes and restore, but it won't boot. It's easy enough to get back to cm from there though:silly:

how do I put it in flash mode!? sorry but I'm really confused because it boots, but it stays stuck on "sony" screen!!!
With phone off, press volume down and connect usb cable connected to pc (drivers should be previously installed), when the led change color, release volume button. Done, you're in flash mode, now just flash tft (do it fast before your battery runs out)

Your phone has fastboot and FLASH modes.
Put it in FLASH mode (volume down) and the hit the lighting icon and flash a new firmware.
Don't worry, Sony phones are (almost) unbrickeable, just don't run out of battery.

Your device is corrupt.... Bootloop LG k8 . Recovery doesn't work

Hi guys, i was rooting my phone LG k8 using adp method get form here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/friendly-root-method-lg-k8-k10-t3531223
but in the last step in the rooting part i noticed that the SuperSU archive didn't appear in the TWRP manager so i got no more choise than reboot. Now the problem is that after the LG logo appears the message saying "Your device is corrupt...", then restarts - logo - your device is corrupt - restarts - logo - your device .... well, a bootloop, is so anoying. I tryed to use recovery funcion of LG, but when it ends, phone reboot and the problem is still there: bootloop. I can't boot in fastboot mode or anything elese form the PC so i don't know what to do. How can i fix this problem? hope my phone doesn't become a brick.....
1. Download LG K8 firmware (k350n) here or here.
2. Download LG UP software and the dll for LG K8.
3. Boot your phone into Download Mode (hold Volume-Up key & connect the phone to your computer via USB).
4. Upload firmware to your phone (update mode).
Your phone should be reset and working, but not rooted...
I hope this helped
If you cant boot into download mode, connect the phone without the battery to computer. It will find 3 devices. then put the battey back and press volume up. You'll get to download mode. Download and install lg bridge. s. Restart pc. If your device is in download mode lg bridge will see it. Go to update tab, try it. If your device is up to date an option will come up after trying to update to the right of the update tab saying error during update. Press on it and then wait. It will download install and reboot.
Experiencing similar problem on my LG K8 (K350Z).
I've successfully rooted device using guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/friendly-root-method-lg-k8-k10-t3531223
Later I decided to recover to stock KDZ, but did very stupid thing first - I've entered recovery mode (by pressing down+power, then down+power+up) and selected "Yes". After that green droid shown, and phone restarted, showing logo, then "Device is corrupt" message then off.
Starting it goes through logo"Device is corrupt" loop.
I've tried many suggestions to use LGUP and LG Bridge, but PC simply doesn't see the phone correctly.
Driver re-install didn't help much, it's still shown in Device Manager as "LTE Android MTP Device" with yellow exclaim triangle, but LGUP and LG Bridge can't connect to it.

When I select in LGUP it says "LGUP can't load the model[C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\com"
Finally! Resolved the problem. Looks like I've installed different driver versions and LGUP and LG Bridge in wrong order.
Re-installing everything helped and LG Bridge was able to flash the updated software version (V10f-AME-XX) and now my K8 works fine
Going to try post 2017 rooting methods soon.

Have you tried doing a long reset for your phone type by holding the correct buttons before the phone starts. Let it die first then charge it and try a long reset

Question Soft Bricked Phone

Use SP_flash_tool from MTK. go into flash mode (Power off first, then press and hold both Vol+ & Vol-, and press power bottom, then Plug in USB cable, do not release keep holding them until it detected.)
Follow the precedure of SP flash utility.
you may need to used Auth_bypass to bypass authority check.
Miflash can only be used in fastboot (bootloader) mode.

Thank you, I've successfully used the Auth_bypass tool to disable the authority check. Now I'm waiting for it to turn off so I can flash the stock rom.

Fixed it! To anyone who underwent the same: just like what @kirinin says, wait for the phone to turn off. Have your spflashtool and mtkauthbypass tool ready.
Here's what I did:
1. Open spflashtool, load stock rom. IMPORTANT: Select everything but the preloader and make sure it's on download.
2. Open MTKAuthbypass tool. Click disable auth. It will wait for your phone to connect.
3. Put your phone in BRom mode by holding the vol-, vol+ and power buttons together then IMMEDIATELY CONNECT YOUR PHONE. DO NOT DISCONNECT IT
4. Press download in spflashtool after disable auth is successful. (Output should be like screenshot above this post.)
5. Wait.
For anyone asking:
Yes my bootloader is still unlocked after using spflashtool.

no need to wait to turn off -> press volume up + power.
and for me volume up and volume down works for Brom mode- not volume up, volume down and power.

try booting into fastboot, if not, boot into brom and flash stock miui via sp tool
open up device manager to make sure everything is right.
boot into brom by holding VOL-, VOL+ and POWER, at the same time connect the phone to ur pc. if it does the connected sound, check on device manager if the driver is missing. it should have a warning sign, if it does then install the drivers i annexed below the post (ive used them and it worked, up to u)
after installing them, by the meantime ur phone probably has restarted, so reboot it into brom once again and check devices manager. if it worked it should look something like this:

Let me try
indonesian rom is fully compatible. sure u made something bad.
your bootloader is unlocked???? u have downloaded fastboot version? clean flash selected? write al steps u did with precision. i'm 100% sure is not a compatibility problem. i have installed indonesian rom more then one time without any problems
IF U CAN ENTER INTO FASTBOOT, U CAN RESTORE YOUR PHONE WITHOUT PROBLEMS. stay away from advanced procedures like restore preloader. First try the easyest solutions. If didnt work i suggest mtkclient under arch linux for reflash boot vbeta and preloader. But follow my tip: enter into fastboot and reflash stock using adbdastboot tool. Is the easyest solution
