[SOLVED] System Recovery ERROR. - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot access my present usb storage memory from 'Install zip from sd' option in System Recovery and the reason according to me for this is I switched off my mobile before storage scan completes and so partial scanned files are visible ONLY in system recovery . I reflashed the XXLQB version (which I am currently using) even did cache and data wipes twice. I also formatted my USB storage also but still I can see the folders and files which were partially scanned. The changes i make to those folders are not reflected in system recovery. I even flashed XXLQ4 firmware but the system recovery showed the same files inspite of an empty USB storage. Luckily the root.zip (by Shaan) had been scanned, so I can root my device after flashing.
Please Help guys !!!

Chirag

As I remember stock recovery only see external memory. So you can't use internal anyway.

You remember correctly. I tried it a couple of days ago and stock can only see external.
Flash a custom kernel (there is a stock kernel with TWRP recovery on the forum if you don't want a custom kernel).

Follow dr.ketan method. Is safe and easy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
Put your flash file at both internal and external sd card.
NEVER do any full wipe and nandroid on unsafe kernel.

Thank you Sir for the quick reply but I don't have an sd card. Its the internal storage and the method youve posted would make me update it through the external storage which the android system recovery isnt mounting

Try dr.ketan 1st. If still failed. Then follow the method as noted below.
1.download speedmod k3-13 or hdyracore kernel in tar.file.
2.Boot into download mode and flash it thru pc odin.
3. After phone reboot, use "root explorer" to check u are in full root or not. Copy and paste some file under system.
4. If everthing goes well. Then use "triangle Away" to remove yellow triangle and reset binary count.
Good luck mate.

[Q] All files suddenly disappeared

Hi,
(Hope it's the right place? Can't ask in the rom-thread, because < 10 posts)
I'm using Paranoid Android 2.6 by TonyP Build 10. This morning suddenly all the app data disappeared. The Apps still work fine, but all data (scores, settings) are gone. The sdcard is okay, pictures and so on are still there.
Does anybody have an idea why this happend and how i can get my data back?
~crunk
did the installation wiped your whole Internal Storage?
and what recovery did you use to flash the Rom?

um, this did not happen after a update, it happend suddenly after a boot
Recovery: ROM Manager - CWM
Wipe cache(NOT DATA) and dalvikcache and reboot.
Then again after a reboot go back to recovery and fix permissions.
// If that doesnt work try installing the rom again
///// If that doesnt work the data has been erased somehow. Cant tell from here.
Also: Check if the files for games etc are still on the SDcard.

SD card and Permissions Error

Morning,
First of all:
s-off and bootloader unlocked
CWM touch 6.0.3.2 (latest)
InsertCoin 2.0.5 - first time installing custom ROM.
I have installed InsertCoin however whenever i click on the stock camera (or any camera downloaded) i get the following message: Unable to save to SD card due to insufficient file permissions. I have even tried to format and re-install the ROM however I still get the same issue. I have no idea how to fix it. If i download an image from google this works correctly and gets place in the download folder. I have tried clearing the data of the camera but this also did not work.
I moved all of my data from /data/media to the folder /data/media/0 as this is what a tutorial said regarding file paths if you move to the new 4.2.2. However for some reason now when i go into /data the folder is empty. All of my data is in the folder storage/emuated/0 (or /sdcard) I have taken 2 backups using CWM yet I have no idea where these are.
Also, when i was initially the recovery, when i first installed the recovery and entered it my computer stated 'usb device not recognised' and no adb commands would work, but as soon as i reboot manually to bootloader it was recognized. Is this normal?
Using the app 'disk usage' it states my storage card has a total size of 26206 MiB.
Clearly I have borked something up along the way.
If somebody could help that would be great, and this is rather annoying and starting to wreck my head haha.
Thanks,
Vizzy
Have you tried fix permissions in the advanced menu in CWM? Give that a go, if it doesn't work back everything up, wipe cache and SD card in CWM and re-install the rom via push or using a OTG
Okay I'll give it a go, when I'm hone tonight . Do I have to format the card into a specific format or is it just literally 'wipe SD card' like it is for cache etc.
Is the USB not recognised issue normal ? I don't fancy wiping everything then finding out I can't adb push.
Adb method: adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/ROM.zip
OTG doesn't work in the latest CWM, correct?

Yes, everything!
TWRP support OTG, and is better then CWM
It's clean and simple
From my point of view ..Any mistake occurred at migration with 4.1. on 4.2. symlinks for compatibility with the previous version 4.1 aren't created correctly. Be restored with nandroid backup and try to flash stock 4.2 ROM, and only then custom 4.2.2.
The only back up I have is when I booted into recovery and took a nandroid. The one I took after I installed recovery is lost.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
If I understand correct , you don't have 4.1 nandroid backup ,only 4.2 ?
If yes.. save you apps and data to PC and make factory reset with formating SD (under 4.2 ) and then restore your apps and data.
Nandroid backups in 4.2.2 can be found on phone (not SD card) under data/media btw

INTERNAL /SDCARD please read!
Just reflash from KDZ if you can't access the /sdcard folder from recovery. I've never heard of this happening on our device, so I wouldn't take the risk of playing with it if I were you.

u can format it in recovery mode. at least in team win recovery there is a choise to format data. after format , reboot in recovery and the sdcard is mounted. if it doesnt mount , u can do it manually again in recovery. this is not even a problem. its like in linux u mount the /home directory. the disk is always there u just have to let the system "know" that this part is used as "home". same here. u let the phone know that this here is the sdcard. so go ahead and format it ,reboot. if not fixed then mount it manually.

Caps off badass 12GB internal storage is showed as sdcard and additional sd card is external sd card you can format them both from CWM.Also you cna try to manually mount it from there. Also you can try deleting data and format system.Next time you want help be shure to know what is problem and what you want. Also try to use english language to describe it
Thanks for advice guys but after reflashing with official lg mobile Support tool still a bootloop, then finally got to format /data partition via stock recovery and voila its back again working ! Its a weird corruption on 4X tough.

[Q] Urgent Help required - Not able to locate update zip in Stock Recovery

Greetings,
Unable to find the flashable update zip file from stock recovery 3e which exists on my sdcard.
I need to install CWM recovery and flash cocore kernel and root. I did this earlier countless times.
I am on stock XXLQL 4.1.2 Italy FW. Just FYI, a couple of days back I had flashed HarshJelly 4.
Below are the options in stock recovery <3e> -
1. reboot system now
2. apply update from ADB
3. apply update from external storage
4. wipe data/factory reset
5. wipe cache partition
6. apply update from cache
When I select 3rd option, I cannot see the update.zip or any other file which is in my sdcard (internal storage). I just see below –
Choose a package to install:
/sdcard
../
Added information is, when I go to root of the phone with Solid explorer, I can see below relevant directories –
sdcard <this is a symlink for /storage/sdcard0>
storage <inside this there is sdcard0 dir>
Inside storage there is sdcard0. And when I access the same directory by either ways (clicked symlink OR went is storage/sdcard0), I could see all my flashable files over there.
I already read something about this being related to 4.2 JB version. However, did not find any confirmed resolution or workaround on any forum.
I have already tried -
1) formatting of internal storage (sdcard0) and external storage (memory card) from phone settings -> storage -> Format USB storage AND Format SD card.
2) That didn’t work hence, I tried formatting my ext card (referred some XDA link) from PC with all - FAT32, NTFS and something like ext.... Still no luck.
3) Downloading zip files again to ensure they are not currupted.
Please note that I can copy data to both storages, hence I think my storage doesn’t look like corrupted.
It will be a great help if you can guide me to resolve this issue. :fingers-crossed:
Stock recovery let you search for update.zip in external sdcard (/storage/extSdCard/ on stock jb)

I have already kept the update.zip in both internal and external sdcards (/storage/extSdCard/ and /storage/sdcard0/). Missed to mention that.
However, could you please confirm on this as the symlink /sdcard in the root is for /storage/sdcard0 which is internal sdcard.

Also, I would like to know what has happened to ext sdcard...
How re-partitioning will help?
Can't it be roll backed to earlier condition rather than re-partitioning?
