Is it possible to force only 2G connection on my Xperia Z (C6603)?
In settings, I can only choose between these options:
-LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM
-WCDMA only
-WCDMA (preferred)/GSM
But I want only 2G connection because where I live 3G/LTE signal strength is really low.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and in phone information change it to gsm only

Hey people.
Had a question for the smart people that live here.
When I am at home on the couch or downstairs in the computer room.i have very low signal or no signal. If I restart my phone I can see the signal bars go from full to none. My phone picks up a faint signal from hspa network (bell network) and keeps going from 3G to hspa. Before I had the galaxy s I had the touch pro on just the 3G network and did not have problems like this.
Does anyone know of a way that I could lock the galaxy s into the 3G network? I tried going to settings» network» mobile network and selecting one of the bell networks but gives me the error that i am not allowed to select the network, it will automatically choose it for me.
Running eclair,UGJH2
Thanks in advance for any help.

I commute about 30 miles to work from an area with "4G" HSPA+ to an area with 4G LTE, on the way home, going from LTE to HSPA+, my Xperia loses data connection for at close to 10 miles, in an area that should still have LTE. I've also noticed drops of data in areas of the city which are covered by LTE as well.
Problem is, I have to wait and turn the radio on/off for it to get a data connection again (by the time it connects on the way home I'm in an HSPA+ only zone). Do any other TL owners experience these data dead zones on LTE, where there should be something, even if it's HSPA+/EDGE, but the phone won't connect to it?
There also doesn't seem to be any way to disable LTE on the Xperia TL, or I would try that.
I have not experienced any data drops out of the ordinary low signal areas. I live in a rural area so these are expected. I have streamed NBA games while riding in a car with just these normal disruptions. You can disable LTE by flashing a Xperia T firmware and including the baseband. T doesn't support LTE.

You can disable it quite easily.
In your dialer type: *#*#4636#*#* (*#*# info#*#*)
Choose phone information, and there is an option to choose which radios you would like to use.

I'm looking for a method that will allow me to manually select what sort of mobile internet to use (LTE, HSPA+, EDGE).
This is for two reasons mainly:
1)Better battery life on 3G vs LTE
2)With a data cap I'd rather have lower speeds where I can control data usage better
3)All 4.2 ROMS do not show the mobile signal strength indicator on LTE but does show up for HSPA+ etc
I have tried several methods shown in various forums but to no avail. Also even unselecting 'automatic' and manually registering 3G under 'network operators' does not seem to fix this.
I am using T-Mobile in an LTE area.
Thanks

Dial *#*#4636#*#* and you can choose network options.... If you are on stock att or bell it will not work and you should download an app called network which also does the same...

thanks will try it out.
Also, *#*#4636#*#* works on Mexican Retail (confirmed). And this fixes the problem for network signal indicator (not for LTE though)

Hi All,
Got a new xperia Z1 c6906, setup all things, did input correct APN, chose LTE in the mobile setting. But it couldn't get LTE connection, it always go back down to H+ / 3G, always switch between H+ and 3G. just wondering if the baseband problem? or I have to call Fido and ask them to register my IMEI to their LTE network if the phone couldn't do it itself? thx so much anybody can help.
p.s. previously using Samsung SIII, using LTE sim card and sure in LTE area since I didn't move.
*#*#7378423#*#* to check what LTE bands you have.
BTW, you should post this on Z1 forum.

Just found a small trick to use only 3G instead of 3G preferrd.
Just dial *#*#4636#*#* select the desired radio in the drop down menu. WCDMA is 3G only.
Hope it helps

Yeap yeap. Known for some time already. You can also force it to connect to 4G network instead of 3G network by selecting "LTE Only" but you won't be able to receive/ make calls and sms. Good for situation where you wanna use Internet and it is loading really slow cos your phone finds that the 4G signal is too low and determines that 3G is would be faster for you. But low signal 4G compared to higher signal 3G, 4G still wins most of the time to me.
