I have an Xperia TL I purchased and unlocked, and it works fine making calls on T-mobile, I changed the APN settings so MMS works fine, etc, but I recently noticed that the phone NEVER has 3G, it's always either on Edge or 4G, so do I need to change the baseband to pickup 3G on T-mobile ? I'm guessing maybe AT&T uses different frequencies for their 3G?
Also my wifes LT18i seems to never get 3G after ICS update either. Hers is factory unlocked.
Is it possible to call T-mobile and have them send the correct settings over the network ?
Thanks a bunch for any help!
Flash the European baseband. That enabled the correct frequencies.

So I have a LT30AT from At&t, which firmware I can flash to use it on the tmobile network ? will this "LT30p_9.1.A.0.492_Generic Italy(1265-1589).ftf" work ? Thanks

Sorry for the noob, I've been searching the forum and I assume that just flash the at&t phone with any of the European firmware and I should have the UMTS BC_4 band to work with the 1700 frequency (but without LTE). Is this correct or am I missing anything ? Thanks :fingers-crossed:
Yeah, you should be good to go with any European firmware. As long add it shows band 4 enabled. LTE also works, you just can't access settings from the normal network menu.

I think I did exclude baseband, been so long, can't remember . I think I got the 9.1.A.1.1.40 for my build
hmmm, interesting. I hope someone else can chime with more info on this

This is what showing in my working bands:
GSM850,GSM900,GSM1800,GSM1900
UMTS_BC1, UMTS_BC2, UMTS_BC4, UMTS_BC5
LTE_BC2, LTE_BC4, LTE_BC5, LTE_BC17
Phone Software Version:
1262-6309_9.1.A.1.140
GENERIC - user
File System Version:
GLOBAL-HSPA_9.1.A.1.140
So my guess is you can always backup your current firmware and do the flash, see if it working for you, if not go back to whatever you have before and try again...

hi guys,
I have been using the RC4.2 in india for the past couple months. both 2G and 3G were working on Indian providers.
I recently moved to Singapore, and now 3G doesnt seem to work on SingTel network. The signal shows "G" written next to it, and phone status inside Settings shows network type as GPRS:1. That means its on 2G network.
I called up SingTel customer care and the APN setting seems fine. A friend of mine running CM9 ICS beta build on his galaxy ACE has perfect 3G connectivity in Singapore on SingTel. The network types is shown as HSDPA.
Has anyone used 3G in singapore, or faced this issue? or is there any 3G connectivity fix for RC4.2? Am i supposed to use any other Radio?
Please help..2G here sucks!!

I keyed in the code above, and chose "DISPLAY HSPA INFO." , it says "Serving Cell Info: HSDPA:0, HSUPA:0". this means HSDPA is not enabled? What do i do to enable this? I'm in US Indiana I have the t-mobile 6606 Z no root.
I have flashed the German, French, Spain, and European roms with the flash tool and LTE will not work with them.
I made sure that the apn settings matched, lte preferred was checked but every time all I get is edge,3g and H+.
I did notice that the flash tool will always flash the hole ftf no matter what I checked to exclude.
I tried flashing the ftf with the t-mo baseband excluded but it always flashes it anyway.
I also noticed that my phone has a 12.8 mp camera so maybe the t-mo phones have some different hardware than the others?
Could anyone with a t-mobile phone US that has had any luck getting lte to work tell me how they did it?
You may do it again.
I am also on t-mobile Z and have LTE with stock t-mobile baseband.
You can download stock t-mobile ftf file and flash your Z with baseband only.
It should contain only 4 files, amss_fs_1.sin, amss_fs_2.sin, amss_fs_3.sin, loader.sin
It should work after you done flashing.

You don't need to.
However, flashing baseband only takes few seconds, while flashing whole file will take more than a minute.

I have a c6603.
Want to "enable the modem"
not just flash new baseband or firmware.
(Tried that already)
Can anyone provide me with info on "enabling" the modem?
I've seen it referenced in threads, but can find nothing on how to do it.
I get H+ at 850 MHz on my c6603, but not H+ at 1900 MHz
The c6602 (which has same modem), is enabled for H+ at 1900MHz
Flashing c6602 firmware and baseand has not worked.
How would I "enable" the modem to expand the frequencies it uses?
Then I could flash c6602 firmware with the baseband that uses H+ @ 1900 MHz,
because the modem would then be "enabled" for the 1900 MHz frequency.
Thank you for any and all help!
1900 MHz should be enabled in the C6603

Thank you for answering.
I also have GSM1900 on my c6603, and that it what allows me to get Edge/2G data right now.
But I'm hoping to "enable" the modem to communicate on UTMS_BC2 (which is the 3G/H+ frequency at 1900Mhz)
just like the c6602 does, since both models have exactly the same harware.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
You are right in that UTMS_BC2 (3G/HSPA+ at 1900MHz) is not enabled out of the box for the c6603.
But this modem channel is enabled for the c6602.
And both the c6602 and c6603 share exactly the same internal hardware, including the modem.
I'm hoping to find out how to change an internal setting (or something) that will allow me to "enable" communication on this frequency.
At the top of the link you shared, GSMArena does say that it is "also known as"
Anyways, any help on changing modem settings or programming that would enable this frequency would be appreciated.
NOTE: Flashing c6602 baseband onto my c6603 did not change available modem frequencies.
Other threads have said modem needs to be "enabled" without further explanation.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.

As it is not on US firmware it is being software restricted from supporting VoLTE. There is no US firmware and little to no development for this phone. Sony has not announced any plans for a us version or for a US kernel.
I LOVE this phone but the lack of VoLTE became a huge issue when major carriers and shared networks announced they would no longer support phones without this feature. They're also shutting down older frequencies on towers in prep for 5G. If it at least supported Wi-Fi calling that would help but it doesn't.
Even I need assistance with similar issue, I am using a UK model in India. I am struggling without VoLTE or VoWIFI support. Can somebody help me what we can do.

I have the xperia 10 ii and did have T-Mobile but can confirm it works on google fi with VoLTE and wifi calling support as long as you activate the sim card in a google fi supported phone first. I switch just to support this phone and get a cheaper bill
Mine has the HK firmware on it but I'm sure this will work with any of the firmwares on it. The fi sim card must be in the first sim card slot it will not work in sim slot 2

This made the network try VOLTE thinking I got help and it turned on lol. Using Volte on At&T network in america

Hi! May I ask how does regional customization affect the availability of the VoLTE option?
I am using Xperia 10 II (came with HK customization stock firmware) in Japan, and my operator is Rakuten Mobile. I don't have the VoLTE option and it's kind of a huge problem since the operator is a fairly new one and has no GSM/UMTS network, so I can't make or receive any phone calls. Data works fine after adjusting the preferred network type to LTE only.
Can I do the same thing (flashing the SEA customization) to get the VoLTE option? I would like to know what exactly controls whether the option is available if that is ok.

Hi! May I ask how does regional customization affect the availability of the VoLTE option?

Yes, my phone was from HK also, and after I flashed SEA customization, VoLTE option appeared and I can use VoLTE, now we have a operator here in Paraguay with VoLTE and works as expected

Should I flash the whole firmware downloaded with Xperifirm or only some specific files?
Also, could you please explain why SEA customization gives you the VoLTE option? Sorry if that is a dumb question.
Hi,
Im owning a Sony Xperia 1ii XQ-AT51 US customized and currently using it India. My phone has no VOLTE provisioned enabled( Using Airtel Carrier) . I tried all UK, RU Customization I could not enable VOLTE. Can i flash AT52 Firmware on AT51 to enable VOLTE ? Will there be a problem?
Thanks
Lokesh
It should work, but AFAIK you need to be on your region's firmware to get VoLTE. If you have a sim-enabled VoLTE like Google Fi, it'll work. Unsure if there is a customized India firmware though.
But yeah, flashing AT52 on AT51 will work fine.
EDIT: Read on another topic that someone flashed Customized SEA and was able to get VoLTE + 5G working in India. You can try that!

WIFI Calling working, VOLTE also working. Just testing using JIO SIM. But no logo in the network indicator. In mobile and network setting i found use VOLTE when available.

Never used Jio app for making calls. VOLTE WOKS FINE when you flash the XQ-AT52 SEA firmware. But going back to US Customized needs updated firmware 288

I'm having trouble converting from HK AT52 to US AT51. I've done it about 10 times and every time it is corrupt.
Does it make any difference that I have the green model with 12gb RAM?
Are there any special steps for getting 58.1.A.5.441 (US firmware) to work on my phone?
Hi guys
My device is the Xperia 1 III 72 but my problem is similar
