I got the new 5.7.906 update last night and have already rerooted the phone. But now I want to deodex the phone. What can I use to do this? Has anyone used the xUltimate tool with success before on Droid 3?
Someone has already made a deodexed ROM of it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554916

Yeah I saw that but I want one that is untouched other than deodexing

As far as I know the deodexed non-dst one is pretty much straight up. The dst mod is the one that's been changed.

The original question was what can the OP use to deodex the phone? Also, does the xUltimate tool work on the Droid 3?
It was not, where can I find a ROM?
I too would like to know if there is a way to deodex my Droid 3, without a ROM.
Smali/Baksmali
ie. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296802
I deodexed the stock rom with xultimate.
It seemed to slow down enough though after deodex was complete.
Did zipalign apk's though with Rom Toolbox Pro.
Safestrap makes it even slower booting up now though too.
User beware?
Do we have this capability yet? If so, how do I get it?

By posting in the correct thread. Moved to Q and A
I got init.d support and put a couple scripts one for swap and it works. Rooted ics 6.273 no overclock though we still need the module compiled for this kernel
Do you have a download I can flash?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
I will work on it tonight i didnt use a flashable zip.
Thanks. I appreciate your time. If all I need to do is drop some files in place, then thats fine also. Whatever is easiest for you.

Hi,
Since Some ROMs and Stock ROM didn't supported init.d function, so I decided to post "addon" here.
Thanks to leap_ahead and Jamalsid, mustatir for confirming it's working.
##How to use it?
*Be sure to install busybox first.
-Busybox(free) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox
-Busybox(pro)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox.donate
*Then, install busybox to system/xbin/.
1. Boot to recovery
2. Wipe cache/dalvik cache
3. Flash the zip file
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy.
#Use this at own your risk.
#Perform a Nandroid backup.
#This is tweak-free.

-I know this OP looks ugly. I'm too lazy to make this beautiful, and this thread had written via Tapatalk.
-Hitting Thanks button is must
Just in case
flash rom , kernel, and after the patch !!!
Does anybody know whether a Miui has init support or not?

Well, The very easy way to figure out is this(for light(?) Users)
1. Install kernel which includes BLD
2. Install Nstools
3. Turn BLD ON.
4. Tick init.d option
5. Uninstall nstools
6. Reboot
7. See if BLD is working
Another way is terminal way...However, for easy users.l,..I'll skip this..;D
I'll give this a shot on my ns4g running rasbeanjelly posted by rustyjay and report back tomorrow... alcohol and hydrocodone work well together to ease pain, but I fear the consequences of going into recovery tonight could be awful

Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing.
To do : Modify update-script for symlink
Make busybox-free for convenience
On my ns4g, I can only select use init.d script if the restore at boot option is selected. If I select restore at boot, then init.d, then uncheck restore at boot, the init.d stays checked but is grayed out, I've tried with trinity teuv alpha 12 and marmite 4.8.7 with the same results. Nothing stays selected after a reboot.

Does this make newest brainmaster tweaks compatible to any ROM?

My bad
I used NStools so long ago, so couldn't remember it!
Try to tick init.d, then uninstall it.
Plz be sure to add BLD, so it's easy to figure out.

Yes, it should. But isn't it BM tweak package includes this type of init.d installer already?

Clear Explaination
My Zip just enables init.d working properly at boot.(there is no tweak in zip file) System/etc/init.d/placeholder doesn't do anything, that file just init.d folder to exist(for users who doesn't have init.d folder in system/etc)
BM's zip file (afaik) enables init.d function and install parts of BM tweaks in system/etc/init.d.

good to know ...i dont have enough experiance to give more detail
It appears to be working now... I uninstalled nstools, then got out again from the play store, instead of just restoring from titanium like I usually do. I enabled bln & bld, then selected restore at boot, init.d script, then unselected the restore at boot option. This left the init.d checked but grayed out. After a reboot, bln & bld are working without any other nstools interaction now on my ns4g, and restore at boot is not selected.

So just to confirm brainmaster tweaks is your add on plus the tweaks?

**DOES NOT WORK ON 10.1 BASED ROMS**
Alright guys here it is, a flash-able zip that you can flash in recovery to get wifi and vibration working on i717 ROMS
while in recovery before you flash the WiFi.zip file make sure you MOUNT system and then install. Once the WiFi.zip is flashed UNMOUNT system and reboot. Flash Wifi fix.zip last after you have already flashed the rom, gapps, radio ect... This fix should work for all Jelly Bean roms
### For this step i would use the computer. After downloading the ROM your going to flash, use 7zip file manager, right click on the downloaded rom zip move down to 7zip and open archive. delete boot.img and replace with the boot.img that is attached below. Close 7zip and move ROM to your sd card.
Also make sure you flash TeamWin Recovery for the sgh-i717 If you try flashing with TeamWin for our device it does not allow it because of the device name in build prop...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
steps that i have taken:
Flash openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.1 sgh-i717 then reboot to recovery before starting on the steps below.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.wipe factory data reset
2.wipe system
3.flash darkside superwipe EXT4. (Thanks to TDJ for this wipe script)
4.flash i717 jelly bean rom of choice
5.flash GAPPS
6.flash T-Mobile radio (found over in the goodies thread)
7.flash Wifi fix.zip (DONT FORGET TO MOUNT SYSTEM BEFORE FLASHING THIS) other wise it will not work.
8.wipe cache and dalvik cache
9.Reboot- wifi and vibration should be fixed --
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for your work, looking forwards to trying the att roms.

I'll be testing this after I get out of work. Thank you for looking in to this.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T-879 using Tapatalk 2
No problem, if you guys have any issues pm me. Hopefully the instructions are clear enough to understand lol!
Also I can confirm this works for the following ROMs, "pacman all in one (I'm using that one currently) Aocp, and paranoid. So anything jelly bean should work.
I was trying to make a flash-able boot.img to make things easier but for some reason it would not work. The ROM will only boot when boot.IMG is manually inserted. Not sure why that is.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T879 using Tapatalk 2
I can confirm it works, latest PA and it's probably a placebo effect but things are much smoother and the hspa+ speed seems more solid and stable now. I'll give some other roms a try, if they ever want to download.

Cool glad it worked for someone else.
I've been having issues downloading from xda also, I was also having trouble uploading the files to attach here. They kept timing out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T879 using Tapatalk 2
Should be interesting when the 717 gets the 4.2 bump for samsung, and we get left behind by tmoible. I think butter is still incomplete in 4.1.2 right?
I'm having trouble getting any of the att roms to boot, mind sharing some of your modified roms?
Edit: got it...thx.
Sent from my SGH-T879 using xda premium
Are you pulling the boot.IMG file and replacing it with the one in the op?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
got it working...maybe a bad download.
Which ROMs have you guys been trying? Find any your sticking with for a bit?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I've only tried the latest pa. Everything else I can't seem to download.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Also I think this is across the board but do you guys have image/video quality issues? Like if i watch a video in youtube i get a lot of off colors(blacks not actually black, blues look a little greyish, ect.) Even my wallpaper, 99% of images look terrible.
I've tried PAC man and now I'm on AOCP both image quality was fine.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Hmm i'll have to look in to the image quality thing, alot of things just look terrible.
How about slimbean? Anyne have any luck with that? I just keep getting a failed error.
I haven't noticed bad image quality either, Everything looks fine here. I really like aocp, but I like how paranoid supports spen, although GMD spen control in the play store takes care of that!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Will this work on any TW roms? Or is there an alternate fix for those?
Slimbean runs well. No crashes. Though I did notice my connection is a bit slow

For tw ROMs the only thing you should have to do is pull the boot.img and replace with one from a T-Mobile tw ROM.

I want to make sure I understand this correctly. If I want to flash a TW Rom I need to get the boot.img from an exsiting TW Rom or do I use the one provided in the OP? Also would it matter if the boot.img comes from an older version TW Rom?
I've had a look around online for am easy way to get the tablet UI on my device without modifying the DPI but can't seem to find anything. I want to keep my ROM (sentinel ROM) so am after a flashable .zip or any other simple way to gain this. Does anyone know how I can?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Not extremely simple but also not too difficult, if it works...
You can try the Xposed framework and the Xposed tabletUI module. Both available here at XDA. Warning it didn't work for me on stock ROM.
There's also a flashable zip to enable it for the stock ROM over in the Nexus 7 applications subforum. I know it says it will work on other ROMs but I don't remember if CM was one mentioned. That one did work for me with the stock ROM.
