Hi,
I have a Xperia Z since many weeks and i have always the same problem, i can't share pics, photos or any file from the external SDCard with the Facebook for Xperia, i need to copy the file into the internal one and after that works correctly, if i don't do that that automatically said all the time that there is network trouble.
I'm alone having this issue or do you have the same?
I just tried it.
Works fine with me

Also a weird thing, if i'm listening to some music in my external SDCard, i use ASTRO to browse my external SDCard, play a song, that works but i can't move up or down in the playlist with the buton, only play/stop work.
I think there is something wrong with my External SDCard...

Hey everybody,
im wondering if there is a possibility to get the buildin mp3-player indexing my mp3 files on my external sd as well.
Until now the buildin mp3-player is only indexing the files that are on the internal sdcard, but not any of my files on my external sdcard. Do you have the same problem? or ist it a folder problem?
Thx in advance!
I created a folder on the External SD called Media, then within it a folder called Music, put All my MP3 in it and the media player sees them all just fine.
It should index your sd card.
Can you access the files via the explorer?
Check if its in there correctly.

it is working out of the box for me
i dumped all my movies and mp3 files into the EXTERNAL SD card and the build in Samsung Music Player plays it just fine.
the only annoying thing is that it needed you to select which songs/album/artist to play.
so after spending a few hours finding another App, i ended up with this "Player" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081) App, you just select the folders you want to play, and it plays everything inside them all
so... very curois. i created a folderstructure like this sdcard\sd\media\Album1, album2, album3.
The buildin Media player is not indexing them.. so i opened my file explorer and navigated to sdcard\sd\media\Album1 and clicked song1. The buildIn Media Player is playing it.
After that i installed the "Player" from Allgamers hint. when i select a folder and want to play the songs within it says that the playlist is empty, sam problem if i only mark 1 mp3-file. "The playlist is empty"
So the only way to play my files on the external sd is to click them, title per title... Very strange. Is that a problem of the indexer? or my sd?
My Phone: XWJM7, rooted an OCLF
Thx for all your fast answers!
So i think my problem is solved!
Because of your hints i reformated my external sd with my phone, and now it works with no problems. All files are indexed, no matter what folder they are saved in!
Thank u all for tipps and hints!
I have the P880G (apparently a Canadian AWS/Band IV variant), and I store my music files on my external SD card. Being in Canada, I can't use Google's cloud music service, but the Google Play Music app is still pretty darn good for playing local music files.
The trouble is, every time the external SD is remounted (such as when the phone reboots), my playlists and "thumbs up" list are wiped. The playlists are still shown in the list of playlists, but they're all empty with 0 songs.
Before this phone I had the Nexus S, using only internal storage, so this wasn't an issue, except that there was barely room for the music files I wanted to have with me. I'd really like to use the external SD now that it's an option.
From searching around xda, the closest I could find to this issue was a problem with having the cloud-based music sync to the external SD (it apparently goes to internal storage by default). A solution is posted here, and I tried that on my phone, but it didn't solve my particular issue.
So does anyone have any insight or experience with this?

Would love to know if anyone has any resolve for this. Having the same issue on my GS3 running CM10.1.
Thanks.
Well, sorry to say I never found a fix, but my solution was to sign up for Google Play Music's cloud service in a roundabout manner. So now my playlists are synced and never get deleted from the phone.
A workaround is better than constantly re-adding songs. Thanks!
Same problem
I'm having the same problem with my playlists being wiped. I didn't know what was causing it until I read this post.
When I was using V20A firmware until last week, I discovered that LG 4x's media scanner, at every boot, deleted all .M3U files on SD card. To solve this issue, I was obliged to disable the integrated media scanner (using an app with root grants) and eventually copying all .M3U files from a unscanned folder to main music folder on SD card.
The a/m issue was not present in all previous V1xx firmwares.

Rescan Media ROOT ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascannerroot ).
I plugged up to my pc and put albums in the music folder and picture albums in a pictures folder. When i open the music app, it doesn't see any music and same with gallery, cant see anything only pics i've taken with phone. If i use my file explorer it see's everything, opens it and plays. I tried third party gallery like quickpic and it works fine. Poweramp works fine as well for music. The stock software isnt showing anything. I factory reset phone as well and same thing. I've been using android for the longest and first time encountered this. (EVO, EVO 3D GS1, GS2, GS3, Skyrocket, Nexus 4)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've noticed the same issue here. I can connect to a network share, copy music into the Music folder (or media/music) but it wont appear in the Music app, or DoubleTwist. The same is true when copied over USB. Not sure how to get it to detect the music. If I navigate to the folder, I can launch individual songs, but the players wont read the tags, or add the song to it's database...
Force close media storage and use
Media scanner on the play store right after fc-ing media storage.

That didn't seem to do anything for me. I did get music to appear once though by using DoubleTwist AirSync yesterday. I sync'd some crappy windows sample music successfully via that method last night. It showed up in DoubleTwist and the HTC Music app. So I manually deleted those albums and attempted to sync an album I recently got. That time it showed up in DoubleTwist but NOT the HTC Music app. I cannot figure out what the hell is going on or what to do about it. I've tried 3 different media scanner's from the play store and none have done anything for me. I've tried copying my music to various folders hoping they'll get caught in a scan but still no success. Is everybody else able to use the Music app with no problems?
I thought I was the only one. I tried to install Swype also and that didn't work either

still no fix for this problem? will anyone care to reply n help me out?just got the htc one n this glitch is RUINING the brand new phone for me what did the OP do?
So I just found a way to get everything back .
First download a root file explorer (one able to gain root)
then navigate to your root it should be just a "/" then go to /data and then /data/media.
Bam that's where everything is! now just move all the folders to the main sdcard directory, /sdcard or delete the files that are in /data/media if you don't need them anymore.
Good Luck and hit "Thanks" if it helped :laugh:

I used the HTC sync program. Music is there and works. For pictures it separated one album into 30 and gave them all random titles. Very strange. Could use some help here as well

Have the same problem. All my photos don't show up in gallery.

I think you should clear gallery cache data from app manager and then restart.
This was solved my issue once.

You will also need to clear the "media storage" cache.

Sounds like a lot of jumping through hoops just to transfer some songs and pics?? All of my android friends are always saying how much they love the drag and drop features of their phones, and how they dont need itunes to sync pics and songs. Looks like its not all its cracked up to be, with a 2013 flagship model not properly transferring media via drag and drop.

Worked fine when I dragged music and pictures over. Not sure what OP is doing wrong.
I put pictures in the Pictures folder and music in the Music folder. Then unplugged and they showed up in the respective apps.
Since HTC Music Player can show folders as a category what I did was simple -
1. Under Music folder created sub-folders with same name as my iTunes Playlists
2. Opened each folder and dragged the iTunes Playlist from iTunes into it
3. This copies all songs from that playlist into the folder
So the folders in the player work as playlists
Also, copy over Events from iPhoto into Pictures folder creating each sub-folder and this show up in Gallery as Albums !!
All done ...
im having the same problem with my htc one. will someone please tell me if they found a way to fix this issue? clearing the media storage didnt fix the prob,it only made it worse now even the pics i took from the phome wont show up in the gallery. rebooted it like 3 times. please help! this is completely ruining my brand new htc one for me..

Alright, so even with the EXT SD card "fix" to allow r/w, no music app will read the music stored on it( or even pictures/movies), it will only read the internal memory, permissions seem fine, so what could this be? Can I work around it?
Just a slight annoyance, not a big deal, just prefer it on the external!

That's odd. The stock music app and ES file explorer both play my music on the external sd card fine.
Okay so it seems the phone doesn't like my music organized on the external. I organize my music by artist/album/songs in the music folder. I went on a hunch and just dumped all the songs under Music, reboot and boom. All my music is there. Odd right? No issue on the internal with subfolders. Also pictures on the external in subfolders are fine. Just music was weird.
Oh well.
Mod can close thread
Thanks
