how to update - Desire HD Themes and Apps

Hi guys ...
my phone is htc desire hd .. android version 2.3.5 and htc sense version is 3.0
i want to update my sense to 4.0 .. what can i do please learn me how i'm afraid if i make something wrong and lose something in my phone

Never attempt anything on your phone if your not sure. It took me several weeks of reading and searching before I even tried to root my phone. I would suggest you do the same. This is a forum to help each other but no one will take you by the hand and walk you thru it. You have to do the research and learn as you go along to see the errors and ideas our members have come up with.
Good luck and enjoy the learning.

ok i can learn but i want perfect site for learning me that and where ?
plz help me to find site of that .. i wanna my phone from sence 3.0 to 4.0

Google unlocking boot loader for your device or rooting your device would be your first search. It should give you the xda development forum for that. Make sure its for your DesireHD not any other device.
There is also an awesome button up top called search. Get the feel of it, it will be your new best friend. Cause from your response above it seems you Want us to do the search for you and that won't happen unless someone has it in their favorites and offers you the link to it.

You are also asking it the wrong forum this is the theme forum you will get better replies in the Q&A forum. Mods need to move this thread there.

What is the problem, this so called community I've heard about is not much of a community is it.
There's no need for it at all.
Can someone please offer some real advice.
Ok, here is a real advice:
Please read the tutorials.
I have, but the one I am reading shows an old JF1.41 rom, when I looked at the other roms it says things like only for 36b phones ect..... It's confused me a little because tho I am amature techy I am also extra cautious and dont want to brick my phone.
Would I be ok using CyanogenMod [v3.9.7] && Palm Pre theme [1.8] ported for instance
I think the reason people are being a bit hostile is because you posted a question in the development section. That may seem OTT but there are some days when the whole first page of the development section is filled up with questions.
Before you flash a cupcake ROM (cyanogen, JF) you will need the new radio. I'm not entirely sure if you can flash that radio on RC7 or whether you will need to install a custom ROM first (like JF's RC9) so if someone could clear that up that would be useful. It can be found here. Copy that to your SD, name it update.zip and flash. Then you can flash a Cyanogen or any other cupcake ROM. That particular ROM you were talking about sounds like it was ported to the HTC Magic/Sapphire. Only flash ROMs from the dream section.

Hi mate, I wouldnt flash 3.9.7 if you only just rooted your phone, go with the stable v3.6.8.1 first, then use Nandroid recovery to create a backup. Then worse case scenario you can always restore that image if needed.
There's a good reason 3.9.7 is marked as experimental, and there is alot to learn before attempting any Hero roms etc.
If you get stuck with anything feel free to shoot me a PM Im always around and happy to help.
Long time lurker first time poster btw
Thanks guys, I will not post in this section again and sorry to those I have upset, would hve been nice to have been simply told.
Thanks for the help.
lol that was hard as nails

Wow that was by far the hardest groaned I have ever seen in my few months on xda!
People are just tired of everybody posting in devolpment when there is a q and a section, and when there are 20 to 30 new threads that have already been discussed, the devolpers get annoyed. Go with the stable version of cyanogen's rom, flash the new radio image and get yourself the hard spl, not the special, if you see warnings, run very far away. Install the s a lifesaver
ahem...
I wasn't hostile before, attempting to be civil now.
You posted two questions in the development forum. The first was regarding root. There are numerous tutorials available on this forum and even more via a simple google search. I know this because I read them, learned the process inside and out and successfully rooted my phone within the first hour of owning it. So yeah, I made a joke about a hard working mod having to move your thread... no personal attack so whatever.
Your second question was an open ended request for what are basically opinions. There are a number of great custom roms being developed here on XDA and all of them are unique in their own way. Roms like HERO and Cyan's experimental rom are definitely not for newcomers and the threads posted by their developers clearly state the risks involved in attempting to run them. 15 minutes in the dev forum and you could have made an educated decision on your own. One post in Q&A and you would have gotten much friendlier responses but in the end, you'd still have to choose your own adventure.
Let me make one thing clear...
I'm not a dev. I'm an end user who tries to contribute something useful to this forum and learns a whole bunch in the process. I've offered help to many people via PM and replies in threads (as long as the discussion is on-topic) but over time I've come to the realization that simply handing out information instead of forcing you to find it on your own actually does a disservice to not only the forum, but YOU as a user. So hate on us all you want. I think you'll find that following forum rules in the future will make your experience here a happier one, and snarky comments like yours are better left un-submitted.
To answer your question: I started with JF's 1.5 rom and think it was a great way to gain exposure to the world of custom roms and root. A lot has changed since then and things have actually become a lot easier since cyanogen released his recovery image w/ nandroid and tools like switchrom came out. Its now very easy to hop between roms and there are fewer chances you'll screw something up in the process. Personally, I've been sticking with Cyanogen's roms since 3.4.6, and though there have been some bumps in the road I've had very few issues and am currently working with his 3.9 experimental builds.
Hope you get where I'm coming from, good luck to you in the future.

Challenge yourself!!!

I know, if I knew how to programme and hack the software it would be a great challenge and a rush to make the new official Froyo release for Wildfire work!
So, come on all you "algorythm brainiacs"! Don't let us down! You make our days! You are the reasson, I sometimes feel like a kid who got a new toy I wished for so much!
Post the thread:" ...DO THIS...! " And let there be a solution! Bust that "status 7" error!
WE ARE DESPERATE (some of whom are probably even "housewifes" too )
We will make you a "thread-shrine" !
PLZ! Drink some coffee, don't sleep, make us proud...
What's the point of this thread?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Why do i always see you open so many threads, and also pointless ones?
I'm pretty sure FROYO for the htc wildfire DOES WORK...
Stupid. Unroot your phone to install OTA. Or leave the root and install custom ROM based on the latest RUU. There are plenty of them here and growing.
I´am also sure that most of our custom roms are working AND there are enough threads about installation, rooting , down / upgrades ...
You should just take a coffee or tea and some time so search the forum. I think every beginner can root and flash our lovely wildfire with the guides from that forum.

Important Update, Please Read:
Here is an idea! I'm gonna write a very easy tutorial for you guys to apply these themes and any other themes you find anywhere else on your devices. This way, you can mod your phone in no time with less hassle and you can start making great themes for everyone. And you don't need to wait for me to do the job .
Let's bring competition to table. I Believe Cyanogen rom is brilliant, however, when it comes to theming, it is way behind Miui fancy UI.
I'm sure many of you guys have different taste, ideas, and can improve the look of the rom.
It is not easy to find all the tutorials in one place and not spending hours in XDA website to learn something. I myself have learned a lot from XDA, other Devs and using try and error method.
These tutorials would be super easy even for someone who had never done theming before. I'm gonna start writing the first part of tutorial today and if I find time I include images too. I will open a new thread and put the link here.
Tutorials will teach u how to theme almost every App you have. There are other guides out there and u r welcome to use theme but makes mine different is that details will be covered. Tutorials should be fast and easy. Im myself get tired ot reading long confusing tutorials and still come up with questions.
First tutorials is ready go to this link
Thank you
Adam
Here is an example of my work, I'm gonna show you how to do something like i did down below.
"For now, I prepared this theme for Nexus one since I have one and if time allows I make more for other devices if you guys vote for it. Should I go for it? You like it? Let me know?
Here is the original thread with the images --> Link
Guys please mention your device name if its not in the list
inspire 4g
xperia x10 here but i believe the nexus one theme is compatible
Also available for a SGS running CM7?
HTC Hero CDMA

Hi all
after considerable reading on here i have finaly taken the plunge and s-off my phone. I have also rooted and am now looking for a custom rom to put on.
I like the look of Android Revolution HD 1.0.2 but all the links to try and download this dont seem to be working...
Please can someone post a working link for me
Many Thanks
Curleous
Clearly, you haven't looked through the whole Android Revolution HD post COMPLETELY!
Please, LOOKED AT THE WHOLE POST COMPLETELY.
It is not our responsibility to tell you about what you are doing wrong as it has mentioned in the original post, especially about THIS QUESTION.
Download link seems to be working for me, http://tiny.cc/s3w19
What is your responsibilty then as it is obviously not to be helpful. I am new to all this and have to start somewhere . Sometimes you can miss the obvious when ploughing through so much information.

Here here.... yauhoman: don't bother posting if all your gonna be is unhelpful and rude! Why do you care anyway This is a forum where people with more knowledge and experience on the subject HELP others out. I would be mightly pissed if you had sent this to me and yes I have also failed to miss the obvious in the past and either people do not reply, tell me to search or point me in the right direction.
Live...learn...and get on with it

You don't want to try from android revolution hd 1.1.1?...

better instructions please?

was wondering if mods are anyone who post roms.. can also post step by step instructions on how to install the rom, including software/programs needed to flash it. Its hard to search around the forum to download things..But if you post everyting in one thread, it would prolly avoid a lot of noob questions..

This user has already been directed to that link, and complained it was too long.
To the OP, the directions are clear cut and work. Slapshot did a fantastic job compiling all the steps.
Complaining that they are too long and creating another post to complain some more will get you no where and you're probably better off not rooting your phone until you can understand the instructions.
This was my first root, and although HTC phones are supposed to be harder to root, I accomplished it without a hitch thanks to the instructions so please be patient and take the time to read through all the posts.
If the Superguide is too hard for you, this whole thing isent for you

Honestly, if you're really gonna be this much of a baby about it, switch to a more popular phone, and head over to FreeYourAndroid.com. They have 24/7, and very easy to follow tutorials. Before you even go check for our phone, no its not on there. Hence why I said go grab a more popular phone.
As to how we lay out information here, its because its not for noobs to come and start diving into the world of android modding just like that. There is too much information, too many different (yet individually important) ways to do things, and too many different ROMs and the like coming way too fast to have it all posted in one place. General is for general knowledge things and any questions that don't involve a specific thread. Its a great place for noobs to hangout, learn the ropes, and find basic information. The Android Development forum is there for just that, Android development. So this is where all the ROMs, Mods, Root tricks, and the like go. That is an impossible amount of information to condense into one thread. Not to mention its not fair to the devs who deserve the credit for their hard work. On top of this, ROMs require different ways to be flashed properly. They have different directions, different issues, different fixes. It would be insanely stupid to consolidate information any more then we already have.
So if your gonna whine, then as I stated in the General Knowledge thread:
Don't flash ROMs, unlock your bootloader, ect.:
If you don't know what your doing, don't do it. If you don't want to take the chance, don't do it. If youre just going to whine, don't do it. Its the simplest solution to not making a mistake and staying stable.

XDA isn't for babies, and its not for noobs to start doing things straight out of nowhere. Don't get me wrong though, most of us have no issues showing you noobs the ropes. Although, if youre not going to even try and just gonna sit here whine wanting to be babied we won't care the least bit about you. So in conclusion -
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

No it is not rude at all. Slapshot30 wrote a guide that was created into a sticky which explains how to root, put cwm recovery, flash a rom, etc. If you can't follow simple instructions (searching before posting) then this isn't for you.

Chill out guys, damn, you all sound like some grumpy old men. I've been in PPC's when they had B/W screens back in the 90's and I don't get this angry when a new guy ask me some questions. We all had to start out somewhere.

People are very willing to help and most on here do but it's frustrating when someone wants something easier when he has already been directed to the post he needs in another thread before starting this one. The guide that Slapshot created is great and very easy to follow. If that guide is too difficult for you, you shouldn't be doing this stuff to your phone.
