It seems the other cities have a thread but SJ doesn't quite yet. Anyone have any luck yet? using the sensorly app it seems like all the towers are around high way 280 shucks it woulda been nice to get some LTE coverage at SJSU. I guess we can use this thread to report any updates anyone else notices
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
This is a block off from SJSU campus. Which hopefully means that the buildings around the edge of campus can get some LTE goodness
Although the majority of the towers are located around freeway 280 so until they roll out more towers its gonna be pretty empty although I did manage to snag this gem while driving

LTE is very sporadic in San Jose, i can't understand how T-Mobile can claim they have launched this city. It's like they threw a tower here and there and that's it.
I drove around and you can see an LTE tower at some places but coverage is fairly poor so far.
Works in the North side of San Jose.

Well yes, because the other launch cities aren't in our state so we are discussing the roll out of LTE at this area and neighboring cities of CA

On Grant Rd? There was kind of a dead spot on Grant, hardly any signal, but on North St. by the hospital, had full bars. Also strong signal by Starbucks on Cuesta.
I have LTE at home and work in north SJ (Montague and Zanker)

I was pretty happy about this! I work in the far western burbs of philly (Malvern) and saw the LTE icon pop up. I got 14.89 MBPS and 11.10 MBPS on two tests. Not quite full LTE speed but it was just a system test. A big sigh of relief on my part as I was worried that the service was going to only be accessible within or very close to the city limits!
Good for you guys. just a headsup don't get too speedtest-happy though that app guzzles up data faster than you'd like
I'm still on Edge in my area...
That would be sweet! I am about 45 mins outside of Center city towards Allentown. However i am in Philly all the time so this would be good. Drinking in Center/Old city while enjoying LTE speeds lol. Of course LTE when i'm at Citizens Bank Park watching the PHILLIES!!!
I don't know who owned the tower
but I know they were putting up new panels on 76W between Girard Avenue and the Roosevelt Ave exit.
I haven't seen the icon light up yet but hot damn am I excited for this!

GOOD NEWS! I am waiting to switch back to ATT pending their rollout of LTE in Philadelphia. If we could keep this thread going with updates that be great.

Today T-Mobile announced LTE official launch in Vegas is due within two to three weeks. That means the network is definitely live and being finely tuned! Up until now only T-Mobile engineers had access to LTE network, but since it's weeks away it could be live for us consumers!
All of you in Las Vegas area with Nexus 4 should be downloading PhoneInfo app from PlayStore and forcing LTE/WCDMA/GSM on your devices as most likely T-Mobile LTE will be popping up within days if it isn't already!!!
Please report here!
Forget las Vegas when is NY getting it?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Although I'd love to see NYC live asap, I don't think it'll be included in the very first LTE launch markets.
Vegas was the very first 1900Mhz HSPA+21 market last summer, and NYC was just officially launched a few weeks ago.
Well when it makes its way to NY I'll be sure to try it out
They said 100 million to 200 million people would be getting it by mid-year. I'm assuming Band 4 LTE is the flavor that the Nexus 4 likes?

Just to be clear, T-mobile is fudging these numbers. By 100 to 200 million, they mean possible customers. They aren't actually talking about 100-200 million actual customers having access to LTE.
No kidding. If they had 200 million customers they would be the number one carrier in the US.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
They're covering the markets loaded with potential subscribers. Also, when they officially launch a market, they don't claim that every cell site is upgraded either so YMMV.

Just use PhoneInfo.apk and change your network preference to LTE/WCDMA/GSM or LTE only while you're testing. If you see "4G" indicator, you're in! Then start speed testing lol

Put it to LTE/WCDMA/GSM mode. Once ready, you'll see LTE.
Is there a rollout plan in existance that anyone may know yet?
I'm sure my area would be on the bottom 3/4 but you never know.
I know a few super small town not far from here got the standard 4g/LTE before the metro areas a while back, mainly because farmers sell their land so towers can be built. Gotta love the Midwest.
sorry folks but seattle will get it first!

I know this isnt One news but its great news for us One owners that should be shared....
With Dish out of the way, shareholders placated and regulators giving their green light to the Sprint/SoftBank/Clearwire deal, SoftBank is now promising that they'll invest heavily in their new U.S. company in order to help make Sprint more competitive with industry giants AT&T and Verizon Wireless. According to SoftBank, they're preparing to spend some $16 billion on Sprint over the next two years, with a significant chunk of that $1.6 Trillion Yen going toward LTE base stations. SoftBank President Masayoshi Son says he hopes to pull even with Verizon LTE deployment within two years. "We've found that there is considerable possibility for cutting costs," insists Son.

this sounds nice
but im kinda turned off from cdma
I just had a long conversation with a Sprint engineer earlier today regarding the build out of the LTE network. He elaborated on why we see it more in small markets first. Basically, it's so that when the inner markets are down for upgrades, the exterior towers are there to support while upgrades are put in place in the middle of big markets. If that makes sense.
Hopefully Silicon valley will get some love. A lot of the daily commute highways here barely even have 3G!

Where in the valley were you? I was over there for vacation not long ago and I enjoyed more widespread 4G coverage (well, than Virginia, admittedly, but I'm near one of Sprint's old HQs here).

The $16 billion has to do with what will be invested into sprint over the next 2 years, what you are talking about is what they initially paid for sprint.

All,
I am new to T-Mobile and Note 4. I also live in NYC and know that its a wideband area/LTEA. I ran a couple of speedtest and getting around 25-30mb down/25 up. Is that wideband? I see people online boasting they getting like 75mb down etc....
Curious to see what band I am on...I know there is a setting on the dialpad like #xxxxx# or something to tell.
I also searched on XDA and Android Central and did not find the answer, perhaps using the wrong keywords.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Noob questions, LTE-A is Wideband LTE right?
*#0011#
Dial that in dialer and it will show you what bands your connected to. Band 4 @ 15mhz gives me the best speeds around 30mbps down. (DFW area) others have reported as high as 70mbps down which is insane.
I'm not complaining, I'm more than satisfied. When I'm on band 12 @ 5mhz I only get around 10(ish)mbps down, but I'm told band 12 goes thru walls better. Hope that helps.
