Not sure why though. and I noticed you have 4G icon and not 4G LTE, same as me pretty much

LTE by NY sucks unless you are in Manhattan. I have WiFi hot spots so I don't really care for mobile data

4G on tmobile is not LTE it has to say LTE like in my pic

I was pretty happy about this! I work in the far western burbs of philly (Malvern) and saw the LTE icon pop up. I got 14.89 MBPS and 11.10 MBPS on two tests. Not quite full LTE speed but it was just a system test. A big sigh of relief on my part as I was worried that the service was going to only be accessible within or very close to the city limits!
Good for you guys. just a headsup don't get too speedtest-happy though that app guzzles up data faster than you'd like
I'm still on Edge in my area...
That would be sweet! I am about 45 mins outside of Center city towards Allentown. However i am in Philly all the time so this would be good. Drinking in Center/Old city while enjoying LTE speeds lol. Of course LTE when i'm at Citizens Bank Park watching the PHILLIES!!!
I don't know who owned the tower
but I know they were putting up new panels on 76W between Girard Avenue and the Roosevelt Ave exit.
I haven't seen the icon light up yet but hot damn am I excited for this!

T-mobile USA LTE San Jose, CA

It seems the other cities have a thread but SJ doesn't quite yet. Anyone have any luck yet? using the sensorly app it seems like all the towers are around high way 280 shucks it woulda been nice to get some LTE coverage at SJSU. I guess we can use this thread to report any updates anyone else notices
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
This is a block off from SJSU campus. Which hopefully means that the buildings around the edge of campus can get some LTE goodness
Although the majority of the towers are located around freeway 280 so until they roll out more towers its gonna be pretty empty although I did manage to snag this gem while driving

LTE is very sporadic in San Jose, i can't understand how T-Mobile can claim they have launched this city. It's like they threw a tower here and there and that's it.
I drove around and you can see an LTE tower at some places but coverage is fairly poor so far.

4G LTE Indicator?

I just got the phone a while ago and u wonder, does it support the WiMax bands? Because I do get 4G occasionally but a speedtest shows it to be incredibly slow.
If possible could anyone on Sprint screenshot when they know they're on LTE and show me?
Thank you!

No you don't get a Wimax signal. The HTC's radio is not capable of this. As far as I know, neither is any other LTE phone. But you don't have much to lose. Sprint is expected to shut down its WiMax by 2015 (or something) and I've read it wasn't much good either. Sprint is just starting to roll out its LTE. I'm supposed to get it in August. I'm waiting. It should be worth it.

You might be in an area where 4G isn't fully implemented and just experimental. I work in NY and they never officially announced that they deployed LTE here. I do connect to 4G LTE outside my office but speed tests only show like 1.5 - 2 mb at best, even with full bars.

Basically how it rolls. There's a few towers in my area that are sporadically transmitting LTE, but if you try to use actual data it'll kick you down to 3G (which would likely contribute to your low speeds).
Yeah this is my current situation as well. I might get a 4G signal, but it's like 1 maybe 1.5 down. Most of the time I'm on crappy 3G, with speeds of 0.1 mbps.
Sprint rep said August.... I can only hope.

It would be cool if sprint implanted lte signal bars the same way wimax does!

It's not just sprint. HTC phones report signal this way. Cyanogenmod reports signal differently, and other manufactures report signal differently also.
but it's ok to eat fish cause they don't have feelings.....
Given that there's no standard for "bars" with data signals, that's fine with me. I'd like a statusbar widget though that reported that kind of info.
If you want a standard, use the "text" setting. It displays the signal strength in dBm

How is it Sprint can be using so many bands together to get more speed and yet it's still slower than Tmo's single band? Oh right, it's Sprint...
I miss the old Sprint. I was their biggest fanboy for a good long while there before their 3g became unusable and their only 4g was wimax which didn't make it past trees or a window at anything more than a single bar. I understand the high frequency attenuation, but the lack of 3g backhaul is ridiculous and so is their piecemeal 4g network. I feel sorry for anyone still using them during this "transition". If this was a store under construction, they'd be better off closing for until they're complete, because the customer experience is so bad... I hope they make good use of their prime Nextel 800mhz spectrum, they could make a great network with it, it's totally possible. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Actually Sprint has improved a lot here in the Metro Detroit area I am connected to LTE everywhere I travel in southeast Michigan. It has been a painful journey these last 3 years but I see the light lol and we haven't been officially announced so I see nothing but good things at least for me from Sprint by the end of the summer it should be full throttle. Not to mention we have no data caps and I only pay $45 for unlimited everything. Framily Plan

yep, I can attest to that. Orlando was launched about a month ago, and voice and data coverage couldn't be better. Before I could barely get WiMax, but I get good LTE speeds at my residence and most of my commute through the city. CDMA 800 has already started rolling out in my area, as well as Spark
I just got the official text message from Sprint a few days ago announcing the new spark network here in Minneapolis. Now the wait for Google to update and enable the radios needed to receive the new LTE bands.
Sprint network has improved quite a bit in the last 6 months. I an get LTE pretty much everywhere in the metro and suburbs now. I will admit i was almost ready to pay the ETF and jump ship 6 months ago...

Cause its not currently using all three at once... Enabling all three bands is great but until we get a radio that can negotiate and use all 3 at once your speeds won't be that awesome. I get band 26 here in Houston sometimes and its certainly better than b25 cause of congestion and I have gotten band 41 here too where I got speeds of 70+Mbps (much faster than tmo) but the problem is I until the update we only get one band at once hence the odd speed results.
I'll edit later once I find my spark Houston speed thread I started months ago.
Cheers
When sprint updates so our n5s can use the spark network would it just be in a prl/profile update or an OTA type thing? Will I be on board if I'm running a custom ROM, or will I have to go back to stock for it?

Spark doesn't allow you to receive all 3 bands at once. The technology will automatically switch between the 3 bands, selecting the fastest band and strongest signal available for where you are.

good info thanks
even if you use the .15 modem and are lucky enough to find a 41b tower like i did until we get the updated modem and corresponding software the handoffs between the two will be awful like they are now, and even if you change band priority b25 always seems to take over eventually regardless of the other bands strength.

Expect a new radio.. This will be the brains behind the band switching but I wouldn't be surprised if there are also elements within the rom that will help with spark too.
So yes at least flash the new radio with your custom ROM and see if there is any changes if not wait till your custom ROM of choice updates to 4.4.3 which won't take long lol
A prl and profile can only really enable the bands but a new radio needs to be in place to help with the handoffs

It does. Some people have reported band 41. The towers love to put out 26 (probably because it's lower frequency) and man is it strong! I haven't seen band 41 yet but would love to see a Speedtest on it. Some have reported on s4gru and I think HoFo.
I've gotten plenty of Band41 LTE on my Nexus 5 on the .15 radio. Here is my best speedtest so far:

[Q] How to tell what band I am on? New to T-Mobile

All,
I am new to T-Mobile and Note 4. I also live in NYC and know that its a wideband area/LTEA. I ran a couple of speedtest and getting around 25-30mb down/25 up. Is that wideband? I see people online boasting they getting like 75mb down etc....
Curious to see what band I am on...I know there is a setting on the dialpad like #xxxxx# or something to tell.
I also searched on XDA and Android Central and did not find the answer, perhaps using the wrong keywords.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Noob questions, LTE-A is Wideband LTE right?
*#0011#
Dial that in dialer and it will show you what bands your connected to. Band 4 @ 15mhz gives me the best speeds around 30mbps down. (DFW area) others have reported as high as 70mbps down which is insane.
I'm not complaining, I'm more than satisfied. When I'm on band 12 @ 5mhz I only get around 10(ish)mbps down, but I'm told band 12 goes thru walls better. Hope that helps.
