G1 Always boots to bootloader - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a friend's G1 here. The phone started booting to the rainbow bootloader screen on him (stock rom).
I have reflashed the DREAIMG.nbh file (grey screen, shows OK on each step).
The phone will not boot. It brings up the rainbow screen (even after pulling the battery) and only pressing the power button.
Thoughts?

Rainbow screen error? Please Help

To start off, yes I know that there are several threads describing the rainbow screen situation, but none of them go with what happened to my phone.
I have a white G1 that I bought off somebody else. On friday I downloaded an application and after i turned it off because I was in a meeting. Once I turned the phone back on it was stuck on the rainbow screen giving me the following error:
DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-1.22.12.28
Sep 2 2008
Serial0
I don't know if this phone was rooted before, or anything. I have tried to flash it back to RC29 but nothing works.
I have tried the following:
Format SD card to FAT32
Put the DREAIMG.nhb file in it, and the update.zip
Press Home + Power then i get the triangle with the exclamation point.
then Alt + W to wipe (once i this it automatically goes to the rainbow screen again and then it jumps to a grey screen with blue letter and tells me to press Power to install the DREAIMG.nhb image).
The file installs fine and once its done it tells me to press the action button to continue. When I do this it goes back to rainbow screen.
After this i tried running the update by pressing Home + Power and then Alt+S but the update gave me a failure. I tried this several times and nothing happened. I'm still in the rainbow screen.
Please help
Those instructions are wrong, I don't know where you got them but try the guide that is sticky at the top on this forum.

The DREAIMG.nbh file isn't flashed in recovery.
Format sdcard to FAT32
Place DREAIMG.nbh file on the root of your sdcard (NOT in a zip file)
Turn your phone off
Hold Camera+Power
follow on-screen instructions

Need help rooting my Rogers HTC Dream - stuck at rogers logo

Hi guys,
I need your help, I am a noob in the rooting business.
I was trying to root my htc dream following this guide
from wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Dream_Rooting
After I did all the steps, my dream won't go past the rogers screen anymore. I am still able to enter the hboot mode (camera+power button) and recovery mode(Home+power button)
I used the Cyanogen 4.04 ROM and my htc was on Android 1.5 and SPL 1.33.0009 previously.
When I enter the hboot mode, this is what I see:
DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA21000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Can anyone help me how I should proceed from here?
Did I brick my phone? How can run the cyanogen ROM?
Thank you

Re-flash the ROM and it will work again or:
1. take out the SD card
2. download this file ,open the folder and paste the dreaming.NBH file to the root of your SD card(use your pc or another phone to past this on your SD card).
2. you should get a gray screen once the card in placed back into the phone
3. then press power to start update
4. once the update is complete press the track ball then the rainbow(bootloader) screen should come back up,
5. pull out the battery and there you go your phone should work again
Note: If it didn't updated turn of your phone and turn it on by pressing (& holding) Power+Camera button.

G1 stuck at tmobile screen.PLEASE HELP

Hi,
I am sorry if a simmilar thread is already available, but its just that i wanted to include my exact setup of recovery, etc so that the problem can be solved, as i am getting very anxious to fix this, as i cant afford a new g1.
Every time i turn on the phone, it hangs at the tmobile g1 splash screen. I am running android system recovery utility build jf v1.41 (not official android recovery)
I tried flashing the cyanogen mod v5.0.8 in the recovery, but it aborted installation and installed cyanogen mod 4, but when it rebooted, it was still stuck on the g1 screen like before.
i also have hard spl on the device and the radio version is 2.22.19.26I
when i hold the camera button and power button to power on the phone, a white screen with green skating androids appears and the top reads:
DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA11000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
(this line is date followed by time)
HBOOT
<BACK> FastBoot Mode
Somebody please help, I would really appreciate it.
Thank You
Go to the rom bible and find Amon-Ra's recovery, than it will have instructions on how to flash a new recovery via fastboot(YOU NEED THE SDK INSTALLED). Remember to wipe before flashing and please post this in the Q&A section next time.
have you tried entering recovery mode? when at said splashscreen press green+menu+red at the same time and imideately after that press the home button

[Q] Help flashing a bricked HTC One M7

Hi all,
Got a HTC One. After a regular system update, the phone rebooted, showed the HTC logo, then a black screen with a phone and a red triangle and exclamation mark.
I've got into the Boot loader screen (Power+Vol Down), and try to boot into Recovery, but when I select that option, it reboots straight back to the red triangle/exclamation mark.
I figured, fine, do a factory reset, so I did that, and it spent a few minutes on a screen with a green circular arrow, then rebooted but then hung at the HTC screen (the first thing that appears when the phone is turned on), and sits there for hours.
Power Off/reboot just hangs at the HTC screen.
I've been reading guides on how to flash a new ROM, but they all seem to rely on booting into Recovery, which I can't do. I've installed the Android SDK and used ADB, but it doesn't detect the phone (when it's sitting at the boot loader menu, or anywhere.
Original phone ROM was branded from Telstra Australia.
From the Bootloader screen:
*** LOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.57.0000
RADIO-4T.28.328.14
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909

If your phone is new, then send it back under warranty

The ota installation failed, probably because a missing or corrupted file in /system or in /data/preload. you could have entered the menu (vol+ and power) to see the exact error, but now its to late

This red triangle IS the stock recovery, you have to hold volume + and push power then release both button to open the menu.

Yes you can, but you need a CUSTOM recovery to flash roms (TWRP recovery). will not work with a stock recovery

ADB can only work when the phone is booted in the OS or when booted in a custom recovery. from the bootloader, only fastboot commands will work

If you don't care about the warranty, unlock the bootloader, flash twrp recovery 2.6.3.3 and flash a custom rom.

Ahh. I've looked at heaps of guides on using stock recovery, and I've never seen this mentioned before.
Phone isn't under warranty. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
