Droid 4 JB OTG? - Motorola Droid 4

Are we supposed to be able to use OTG on Jellybean? I am unable to use anything... I even installed the ICS module from the thread in the dev section, but to no avail..

I also was wondering this, I know it used to be that you needed to have a special cable that needed power.

Jumped back on stock and tried with my hd dock and I still am able to use mouse keyboard and flash drive.... I don't know what otg features you seek but I'll dig out my home made dock tomorrow and try... (just a homemade otg cable with a USB hub and power spliced into a cheep business card holder)

and it doesnt work

I'm guessing you have a y cable for that or a powered USB hub... external devices require power... if you don't that's why its not working...

Googler's idea for implementing USB Mass Storage on N7 without rooting

Brian Swetland proposes this app idea for USB Mass Storage on the N7, even without rooting. Thoughts from the devs?

I see a some grumbling about the Nexus 7 (and Galaxy Nexus) not supporting USB Mass Storage devices (thumb drives, etc). Want to make some friends by writing a fun app? Use the USB Host APIs, implement USB Mass Storage (basicly SCSI over USB bulk -- pretty simple encapsulation), and FAT/FAT32 in a standard Android app and make it available via market. No need for "rooting" for this to work.

I have gone and read the thread on Gplus but I still don't understand this!

There is already a thread dedicated to USB-OTG matters, please continue all further discussion there.

Umm, are the RAZR and DROID4 ports the same? I plugged my 4 into the lapdock at Verizon that was made for the RAZR and it worked just fine. So I am guessing this would work for the 4, just wouldn't sit flush.

Droid 4:
I made it... it didn't launch the dock modes as I wanted so I bought the HD dock and the HD dock station... in the process of making one that acts as a dock not just a otg type USB hub... and I meant the ports on the side rather than the top...

I had that once when I used a 3rd-party charging cable. I think it wasn't passing enough power. If you're not already and you have them lying around, you could try using a Touchstone or the original cable. (I would not buy a Touchstone just to try.)
That happens to me all the time when my touchpad dies and I need to charge it but at this point it will only charge will the oem charger. Also it will take a long time to charge and turn back on

Use a TOUCHSTONE charger.
Really simple just leave on oem charger for 4> and it will turn on, or any charger that produces 2 amps and 5.x volts

my english is bad
OTG is not supported out of the box by the SGS.
There are workarounds that needs a custom Kernel. and a cable that'll use an external power source. I haven't tried them though. Try looking for threads in the development section.
I want to use OTG without external power. I could not find kernel support without an external power
there is no way to connect usb without external power source
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
exaclty...no way...you need a usb hub or a y usb cable (2 males and 1 female) connect 1 male to your otg the other to a power source (usb charger) and the usb device (usb mass storage, controller, whatever) goes into the female.
You also need the free app "usb host controller" and a kernel that supports host functions (semaphore for example)

[Q] Using PC internet connection

Hi,
I recently bought MOTO G2, I used my mobile sim network to download few applications.
I use Tata Photon+ for my desktop, So anyone please provide information to use that internet in my mobile through only USB therthering.
also provide info whether Photon+ can be used directly using OTG cable to mobile?
Try this
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/191930/Android-Usb-Port-Forwarding
If you are ROOTED try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287494
I have tried to connect Huawei Power-Fi E8221 through USB OTG but it doesn't recognise it just gives power to device
Personally I suggest you that you should buy small usb wifi adapter for your PC and share internet through it by using software like MyPublicWiFi
This feature you are asking is called Reverse Tethering. It is still under development AND requires root.
This so might help you.

Just buy USB mini wireless adapter.
It's only $4 and free shipping.
It can work as an AP access point and you can share you internet connection from desktop.
Plug it in and you are ready to go.
