I just bought a UK version xperia z model: C6603
A lot of people proved that Xperia Z DOES work on ATT's 3G network
It is so weird that my xperia z only has edge
I‘m currently using Straight Talk in USA ( I don't think it's a problem of Straight Talk, because its network is also powered by AT&T, my lumia 920 has LTE using exactly the same sim card)
I tried factory reset, LTE/WCDMA preferred/WCDMA only, flash another ROM - not work
Is there anyone having the same issue? The speed of edge really freaks me out
Anyone can help me? THANKS!!

im on h20 with the xperia z c6603 in the states. currently get an abysmal 0.15mbps d/l, & 1.12u/l.
if any one is using one of the other mvnos and receiving better numbers, please share your experience.
If you wanted full HSPA+ support you want the C6602. The C6603 will only get HSPA in areas that are running the right frequency which is spotty.

Depends on the frequencies used by your carrier for which modes. The 6603 does not cover the 1700 & 1900MHz bands for 3G used by quite a few carriers in the US

Hello All,
Before I order my Xperia Z, I am trying to figure out what model to get best suited for my carrier. I am in US and would like to use T-Mobile.
I am leaning towards the 6603 since it has the ability to be flashed with the ZL baseband which enables LTE support for those in Canada. It should work for US also but nobody has posted from US with success. My only concern with the 6603 is that it does not have 1700/1900 support out of the box.
I guess what I am asking is, if I purchase the 6603 and flash the ZL baseband, will it have the ability for HSPA+ for Tmobile? The ZL supports LTE and HSPA+. Ideally it would be great to have LTE also but at a minimum I would want HSPA+. Not sure if this is a hardware or baseband limitation.
The 6602 has HSPA+ out of the box but apparently you can't get LTE even with flashing the ZL baseband.
If someone could clear the confusion that would be much appreciated.

C6602 won't get LTE support cause it doesn't have its compatible hardware (LTE antenna)
but with HSPA+ u will have fast internet access like LTE
But i suggest u to buy C6603 because of LTE
:good:

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards I just don't want to get the C6603, flash the zl baseband only not to get HSPA+ or LTE and be stuck on Edge.
I wish they could just make a variant that supports all lol

does your city support LTE? if not then why bother? I am using HSPA+ on tmobile and its 15 down and 3 up which is equivalent to my fios internet...I dont need 30mb down for a phone as it is irrelevant as most server will throttle download speed anyway.

It does and I like the idea of further proofing. I might try AT&T also if not happy with Tmobile. I do agree with HSPA+ being beast, I just like to have as many options available as I can
I wish the C6606 had a firm release date i'm itching for a new phone to play around with.

If i were u i wait for that ZR, its water proof not like the Z where its water resistant
The C6606 definitely looks like the way to go. HSPA+ and LTE support for the US and identical specs to the C6603. Just no release date.
The ZR being waterproof is appealing but looks to have a 720p screen and 4.5"
Hey all, I am about ready to pull the trigger on a C6602 Xperia Z from GsmNation but am wondering if I should just wait for the official T-Mobile version? I am currently on T-Mobile running a Nexus 4 and am just wondering what the main differences will be between the C6602 and T-Mobile versions?
I am perfectly fine with HSPA+ and don't live in an LTE enabled area anyways so that's not a huge concern for me. Outside of that, are there any huge differences?
P.S. For those who are using the C6602 on T-Mobile HSPA+ network, what kind of speeds should I expect?
Thanks!

hi, according to specs on sony's page for the t-mobile xperia z it only has one LTE band. Will Atts Lte work with this phone?
More than likely firmware based restriction you could try flashing a generic ftf that has access to more lte bands

I want to know this badly too. It only list band IV (700) for LTE. Will it work on AT&T LTE? Please help if anyone has a clear answer. Thanks

I really want the water resistant Z though.
Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum so hello to you all. I recently purchased the Xperia Z1 C6903 factory unlocked for use in Vancouver, BC Canada on the Fido network (same network as Rogers). For matters in which I'm unable to do so at the moment due to work and backing up my current phone, I'm unable to test my new unactivated lte micro-sim on the Xperia Z1 to see if it gets onto the LTE network. I currently have a standard sim (non micro-sim) in my Notes 2 which doesn't take the micro-sim and still need to use that phone for a few more days. So if I enable the micro-sim with Fido, this will terminante my current sim and I can't use the Notes 2. This is why I can't test it on the Z1 which is still sleeping in it's box for the meantime. The wait is killing me. My cousin works @ Rogers and has confirmed that LTE bands are 2100 and 2600Mhz. I called up Fido before purchasing the C6903 model and they told me that in order for the phone to be on the LTE network, ONLY 2100 and 2600 Mhz is required. However, I am quite worried seeing some people post that they only see the 4G symbol on their phone and not the LTE. Can somebody please confirm that they have a working C6903 Z1 working on either Rogers/Fido?
Thank you kindly

I'm slightly confused - I went from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to the XZ1 with the same SIM card - as both are using MicroSIM slots.
The Note 1 uses a full size SIM card however.
Using: *#*#7378423#*#* [Thx aridoasis] in your Sony Xperia Phone Dialer and then going into --> Service Info > Configuration - will give you full details on your phone - including the phones working GSM, UMTS and LTE bands. Which you can then use to look up and confirm compatibility. They should also be listed on the white sticker on your box.

Thanks ksoze. Actually you're right, I'm using a Note 1, not Note 2. I borrowed it from my cousin for a few months after my bb torch died (yeah go figure). I know what band frequency is listed for the C6903 and according to what Fido has told me (2100 & 2600), it should be compatible. What alarms me is the number of people who have the C6903 and cant seem to find the LTE symbol when their micr-sim (lte enabled) goes into the C6903 on either Fido/Rogers (Fido's website states that only 2100 & 2600 bands are necessary for LTE which the C6903 supports). They only see the 4G... I still am not able to make the switch into the Z1 to do a test so I'm worried.
Thanks

Unfortunately you cant enable LTE for band 4 by flashing baseband files its more related to hardware than software.
For T-Mobile/Verizon you will be stuck with EDGE and on AT&T you will get 3G
arent any providers with other bands out there in US?

Other carriers are dependent on the major carriers for network allocation
that sucks!
