Re: [ROM] Ubuntu Touch Preview [03/01: Audio fix]
Leaving this here in case anyone reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171129 has the same problem as me (and because so far no one has suggested this solution in the original thread).

Mine continued to boot-loop even after the battery pull. What fixed it was going back to SafeStrap and doing Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache on the Ubuntu slot (that's after everything was flashed). Then it booted Ubuntu just fine, in fact it went faster than I expected.
Watch the temperature of the phone while playing around with this image because it heats things up like crazy and your Lithium-based battery will not be happy about that.
As for the reboot sequence at the end, I found what I needed to do was something like:
1. Long-press Power => screen turns off (I don't know what mode this is supposed to be, but I don't think it's shut down)
2. Long-press M+Power => a low-res text menu comes up with a bunch of options
3. Press Volume-Down until the last option is selected - "BP Tools".
4. Press Volume-Up to activate that option => the next time anything interesting happens on the screen you will be going straight into SafeStrap, ready to switch back to whatever your main ROM was before.

Problem with fresh install of cyanogen, probably an easy fix (phone wont lock....)

I just reinstalled cyanogen mod 5 (HTC DREAM) because I was having problems. Reinstalling it fixed the problem I had (it wasn't booting for some reason)
The problem I have now is retarded. When I push the end (red) button it doesn't lock the screen. [I've done this: spare parts > end button > set to sleep & settings > apps > dev > stay awake off. ]
Also the home button does not do anything anymore (it still works, as it will unsleep my phone and light it up). It should return me to screen 3.
Also, when I hold the end (red) button it use to suggest airplane mode. Now it just has restart/shutdown. thats not really a big deal though. It not locking the screen at all though is a huge problem. makes the phone unusable (due to pocket dialing )
Please help. thanks!
I tried reinstalling cm5 with dalvik-cache cleared. nothing. those features still dont work. I just installed cm6 (also cleared dalvik) STILL can't lock the screen.
Please help. This problem makes the phone unuseable.
Did you wipe your phone? For me this happened some time ago and the only chance was wiping data. You can try doing a nandroid backup, wipe your data and chech if it works then. Otherwise you can restore your backup

was it the latest version of 5?
I do remember in some of the RC's the menu button would unlock the phone no matter how it was set, that was specifically fixed in the next version, same with the home button. just throwing out ideas

I don't know @ the unlock screen stuff, but the home button action in cm6 can be configured in cmparts, so I'm assuming it can be configured in spare parts in cm5. Sometimes it can also be configured in the launcher's settings. @ the power options only containing restart and shutdown, if I remember correctly, the addition of airplane mode and sound on/off into the power button hold menu was an addition in cm6, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong there.
For the screen not locking, definitely suggest what the other guy said, do a full wipe/factory reset and reflash, and make a nandroid backup beforehand. So either way, even if it doesn't fix it, you can just restore, like the other guy said. Start with that, beyond that I don't know what else it would be.

Check your cm settings for screen time off delay and make sure its set to a reasonable amount.

Did you fix this? I'm using AOSPs version of CM7, and to get this to work I changed the setting in Spare Parts > End Button Behavior > Go To Sleep

Can all Droid 3 go into Reset mode without freezing screen? I got mine freeze all tim

Can all Droid 3 go into Reset mode without freezing screen? I got mine freeze all time. i struck at the Android robot screen with no option to choose for 5 hours, i had to pull out my battery
not sure if this works:
while at the android robot screen, push VOL up & down together, you should see some options like reboot the system, wipe, or some other things there...

[Q] Have I permanently damaged my phone?

I just attempted to root my Galaxy Note using the instructions found on the development forum and I thought everything went well. Now, however, once the phone starts it wont turn on again - if I press the power button the screen back light comes on but thats it. I have to remove the battery to restart it, but then the same thing happens again. Any idea how to fix this?
Will it go into download mode if so flash a stock rom with odin

Power off your phone - take out your battery if necessary and wait about a minute, then put it back in.
Press volume up + home + power and hold, see if you can get into Recovery.
If you can, wipe cache, dalvik and do a factory reset.
Try to reboot.

I did all that and everything went through, same problem though after reboot - once the screen turns off, hitting the power button only makes the back light go on and the screen itself doesnt seem to turn on. The phone seems to function "as normal" - it even reboots fine - until I have to turn the screen on using the power button after initially booting it up.

If that's still the case, I'd try to boot into download mode and flash a stock rom (as was suggested above).

sketchy A2DP since ICS update

I have a Sony XPLOD MEX-BT...something something and the music streaming is great when my phone is running GB, but under ICS, any rom I use the music streaming is rubish, and if I unlock the phone and do anything with it whilst it's playing music via a2dp the volume jumps about up and down until I lock the phone and put it down again. I do not experience the same issues when I pair it with a car at work (Toyota Yaris) it seems to be able to A2DP just fine with ICS, its really weird
Currently running Rum Float b4
Anyone else experience this?
There do seem to be problems with A2DP/AVCRP on ICS. Personally I have connectivity problems if the device attempts to initiate the connection with the phone instead of vice versa. See also http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28347
AVCRP I don't really care about, I have my phone on a windscreen mount for GPS and I can leave it on the media player if I really want to see that, I just really want the music to not skip like I'm jogging with a DiscMan
I'm using the same Sony with Bluetooth running dark raider 1.5.2 and I use it everyday works awesome I'm using launcherpro with slacker radio or doubletwist my car has a good sound system and I can crank it up with no issues I use avcrp too

Ive got the same issue.
Have an Alpine CDE-133bt. Phone will either connect to media or phone mode only...not both...WTF
Of course in the focus i have with sync i dont have this issue...but the audio skips once in a while...ics screwed something up.
I was able to fix the issue following this method:

Temptation to root... rising! Best reason to yet.
(Just wondering where it stands in terms of warranty in the UK- whether it's the common sense "if you break it in the process it's your problem" or the rumoured "warranty gone no matter what" that has been reported elsewhere)
I've had a similar problem with Pandora and a bluetooth headset. After some amount of time, the playback seems to pause very briefly about once a second. Turning off WiFi (with mobile data off too) makes the problem disappear instantly, and it does not come back for a minute or two.
Sometimes I get a "Bluetooth headset connected" toast message, and the icon changes appropriately, but the headphones don't appear in the "Paired devices" list and the audio plays through the phone's speaker.
These same headphones worked great with my Aria (CM7.1, 7.2 nightly) and an old Evo 4 (CM7.1).
I've been a little reluctant to root, but this sort of thing will help make the decision.
Its silly not to root....just say'n
I reported this to HTC, and got this response. So far, it's improved...

To wipe the cache partition you will need to get to the recovery menu by way of the factory reset menu. You will not be performing a factory reset, and none of your data will be lost as a part of this particular wipe. To get to the factory reset menu, perform the following steps:
1. Turn your phone all the way off and remove then reinsert the battery.
2. With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Down button and while you have this held in, briefly press the Power button just long enough for the device to respond (keep the Volume key held in). The phone will display a white screen with three green androids across the bottom on skateboards. When you see this screen you can release both buttons.
3. On this screen, use the Volume Down button to highlight the RECOVERY option, then press Power to select it.
At this point the phone should reboot, but go to a black screen with a picture of the phone on it and a red triangle. When you get to this screen, do the following to pull up the recovery menu and perform the following:
1. Hold Volume Up and press Power briefly and the recovery menu should appear.
2. In this menu, use Volume Down to highlight the "Wipe cache partition" option, Then Power to select it. The cache wipe will take about thirty seconds to one minute, maybe longer.
3. Once the wipe is complete it will take you back to the recovery menu. Press Power to select "Reboot system now" this option and the phone will boot up like normal.

I didn't know the stock recovery had a menu.
Edit: It worked for a while, but started skipping again.
Maybe if we all lodge a case about this they'll fix it an push out an update?

Locked up phone, holding power not rebooting

I am on CleanRom and flashed OMJ's mod pack. CleanRom for what ever reason listed that he removed the fast reboot option. When I flashed the mod pack this option was restored. Right after first boot, my wallpaper didn't load (using landscape wallpaper app) This has happened before and a quick reboot fixes it. Well, selected hot reboot instead of full reboot. Shell rebooted, boot animation ran, then stopped at the cleanrom logo. The phone will not boot, is not recognized as adb access and will not reboot from holding the power button. I eld the power button for about 5 minutes, the capacitive buttons flash but it never reboots. When connected to pc with windows 8 adb does not connect. I am using koush's universal adb driver and adb and fastboot normally function fine. When my phone is connected it shows ad "android phone" in device manager but drivers are not installed. Pointing it towards the universal driver folder does not work and searching automatically does not work either. I'm planning on letting the battery die then trying to boot again unless anyone has any better ideas?
never mind, manually installed the driver and got adb to connect and was able to reboot
Next time, Place the phone under a Bright light and hold the power button. Not kidding, it works and mentioned various places here on this forum. Question 17
I guess that trick is our replacement for the battery pull

Interesting. I'm gonna re-lock it up and try that! Just out of curiosity.
EDIT: huh, that actually made a difference. Just holding the power button and it wouldn't reboot, put it directly in front of a light bulb and held the power button and it rebooted.
