Otterbox cases are great but has anyone else worried about the defender not offering as much protection on face down falls? think about it the hard plastic is raised higher than the silicon layer so if the phone falls face down the first thing that's going to hit the ground is the plastic pushing down on your screen. Couldn't that shatter it? Also ive had the defender leave small but noticeable scratches towards the top around the speaker and camera hole, this is probably due to dirt and stuff getting under the hard plastic and rubbing against the glass. And don't you guys think a phone wrapped in silicon and then a hard outer shell (commuter) is better than a phone in a hard inner shell and soft outer shell (defender)? and the screen protector with the commuter isn't that bad its not the best but its something. And the otterbox commuter has a nice silicon lip around the screen that's raised and protects the screen just fine. Also for anyone trying to get the commuter just contact otterbox they replaced my defender with a commuter no charge of course it was a warranty replacement due to my defender having issues with the hard plastic shell rubbing against the screen and leaving scratches, but anyways which do you guys think offers better protection?
i have both the commuter and defender case and i would say the defender offers more protection - if i were to drop my phone i would rather it be in the defender case i think it would make out better, i have an extended battery and have taken off the brutal screen protector on the defender so mine wouldn't be as good as the stock case but if you have the regular battery then no question the defender offers better protection

yeah i took my screen protector off after a while of owning it and put a zagg on it but now the case doesnt feel as sturdy it creaks sometimes have you noticed anything like that?
i dont think taking off the plastic will cause it to creak - had a zagg protector on yesterday but finally got my x gear glass protector on without any water marks under the screen so i threw the zagg in the garbage - i really dont like zagg - but that shouldn't be a problem
I have the Otterbox defender (modded to fit my extended battery) and I have the zagg sp on my phone instead of the sp the defender came with. I have dropped my beloved phone more times than I care to count (on the icy ground, concrete, floor, etc) and it sometimes landed on its face more often than not. Not even a scratch on the screen. The zagg and defender has been EXCELLENT in protecting my screen. No worries over here.

Defender if it was up too me.. I tried going back to my commuter but stil dont like how its a slippery backing.. I dropped the phone with defender twice from pocket height an no damage at all.. I used to carry it in my pocket face out an one time i bumped into a metal table an i thought for sure my screen was broken but to my luck it was still perfect. Now i carry it screen facing my thigh. Im the kinda guy that actually enjoys some weight to the note make it feel more of a quality product

I noticed mine did as well after removing the screen protector. Not a perfect solution (OtterBox should just put a ring in the box for those who either prefer no protector or another one) but I used thin "Post-It" brand adhesive plastic bookmark tabs. I cut narrow strips from that material and stuck them along the edges where the screen protector used to reside, the thickness is just right - no creaking or looseness anymore.
An option to prevent the creaking that I have used is to take an exacto knife and trim out the screen protector, leaving the outline of the protector under the case. You can't see the left over piece of the protector on there with the case on, and it stops the creaking from happening.

I'm going to post one at a time...so the pictures don't get confused with others. I hope this helps
.....1.....The SNP Tempered Glass Protector (Price $32.00)
This one took a long time to receive it since it was coming from Korea with really slow cheap shipment, but the product had no damage so it was all good.
I thought I did good installation on the Tempered glass protector, but all around the edges I had gap (You can see it from the pictures). I contacted the seller and they told me that this screen protector is not for Verizon model, because of the 1mm curved edges. I guess the Korean version of the G2 don't have curved edges and I don't know about Atnt or Tmobile models.
So they gave me a full refund, since they didn't mention that it is not for Verizon models.
But if you have the Korean Version of the phone I really recommend it.
The Tempered glass protector covers close to edge to edge. The responsiveness and the clarity is excellent. The feel of this screen protector is really good. My fingers were sliding across really easy. Edges are smooth rounded so it feels smooth all around the edges.
Since the protector is close to edge to edge you can't use cases like the Diztronic cases or SGP Slim armor, etc. since it interfere with the screen protector that it will lift up the screen protector.
So you have to use the ones like Poetic Palette or Incipio Feather cases or etc.
Even though it had gaps all around the edges I have use this screen protector for 2 weeks and I had no issue with clarity or sensitivity. Overall performance of this tempered glass protector is really fantastic. If this had fit my phone then this one was a keeper...but It was just sad that it didn't fit my G2.
.....2..... Scosche 2.1A High Amp Dual USB Car Charger (Price $6.00)
If you are looking for fast dual USB car charger this one works out great. Like other dual USB car chargers have one 2.1A and one 1.0A Charging ports but Scosche car charging ports are both 2.1A charging ports. In other words...Scosche car chargers will charge 2 devices about the same speed as the OEM wall charger that you got when you bought your G2. It charges really fast.
Overall performance is really excellent. I have used this car charger for over 2 weeks now and have no problem so far. This just does exactly what it is suppose to do. It charges the phone as fast as the rapid wall charger, so this is a keeper for me. In my opinion this car charger is cheap compare other car chargers that charges slower than this.
.....3.....The Hohoo 9H Screen Protector (Price $12.50)
First this screen protector is NOT TEMPERED GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR. This screen protector is made out of PMMA (Poly Methyl Methacrylate), it's basically acrylic. Im saying this because some of the sellers are posting this as a tempered glass protector when it is clearly not. There is a reason why the price point is low.
This one was a defected product which the top part of the screen protector adhesive part was not good that it made air gaps and if I leave it on for a couple of minutes it lifts up by itself, so I contacted the seller and the seller told me that he is sending a new one for me.
The installation wasn't that hard. The screen response was good and the screen clarity was really good. It feel like I was touching a tempered glass screen protector. My fingers glide really smooth. The screen protector size is basically little bit bigger than the screen, but it doesn't cover up the whole front side. In my opinion this is a really good size for the screen protector. Since I can put on Diztronic TPU cases without interfering with the screen protector (just has a tiny gap between the screen protector and the case edges).
Even though this was a defected product everything really work great except for the adhesive part. Going to wait for new one for my final opinion on this screen protector.
...4....The Hohoo 9H Screen Protector (Replacement)
I have received the replacement screen protector and the first thing that I have notice was that the boxing image was different from the first one that they have sent me. The next thing that was different was when I was installing it was the sensor area cut out. It doesn't make a huge difference but just fyi.
The second screen protector that I received had really good adhesives so I didn't get any air gaps. I had no issue with any sensitivity. The screen protector feels really smooth and my fingers slides through easily. The best part about this protector is that the size. I really think this is the best screen protector size for VZW G2.
I really like this screen protector but one problem for me with the screen protector was when I go outside in a really cold weather (near about 0°C) the protector just lifts up by itself for some reason. But if I put it back in a room temperature for a bit it start sticking back to the screen...I have tested 5 times doing this and also sent an email to the seller and the seller just gave me a refund. But in room temperature it doesn't have any problem. The adhesive is actually really good that even though I reattached it more than 5 times it didn't made any gaps or lifting in room temperature. This might be the material of the screen protector problem or I might have got a bad batch but in my experience it happen like that.
Overall performance is excellent. If I didn't had any issue with the lifting then this screen protector was a keeper for me. In my opinion the feel and strength and display is in the same level as the tempered glass protector. If you want tempered glass protector like features without paying a lot. This screen protector might fit for you.
I still have this screen protector on since I don't have any issue in room temperature. But I just have order a new tempered glass protector made from Glassview. It should be coming soon so until then I'm going to keep using this screen protector.
.....5..... Diztronic Cases (Price $10.00)
First impression with these cases were that it's really slim case. Diztronic cases are made out of TPU material. I have purchase two of Diztronic cases, matted black and clear type. Both types of cases have really good grip. The matted black case had so much better resistance against finger prints than the clear case. The matted black case had little bit more slippery feeling than the clear case, but the Matted black looks better than the clear one in my opinion. One final difference between these two types of cases is that the matted black case is $1 more expensive than the clear case.
All the cut out holes were perfectly aligned. On the top it has a lip that even though you put it face down it will protect from the screen touching the surface. This case purpose is basically to protect against everyday use scratches. If you drop the phone with this case on I really don't think this case will protect it from saving your phone.
Overall, if you want a slim case that doesn't any much bulk and protects every corner of your phone this is perfect. But for some reason if you think you will drop the phone get more bulkier case like Otterbox or Incipio Dualpro or etc.
.....6.....Incipio Feather Shine Case (Price $29.99)
I have used this case for over 2 weeks now and it is just perfect for me. Especially the back aluminum finish looks really nice and I don't have to worry about finger prints on the back of my phone anymore. The case fits really tight so there is no worry that the phone is just going to fall off from the case. This case is a really low profile case that it only covers the back and the sides and the four corners of the phone, but not covering the bottom and the top of the phone. This case have slightly lower profile than the Diztronic cases. It has a really small lip on the side of the phone. The lip of the case was about the same size as my screen protector that if I put it face down the screen protector is touching the bottom too. Since my screen protector's thickness is around 0.33mm so I'm assuming that the lip size is around 0.33mm. I'm not too worry about putting my phone face down since the screen protector I have so far stood up pretty good, but if you don't have screen protector just be careful if you are putting it face down.
The back aluminum finish looks nice but it makes the phone a bit slippery. I got some scratches on the aluminum finished back already, I think these scratches came from the keys that was in my pocket. I mean the phone case purpose is to prevent from scratching the actual phone so it is doing its job but it got scratched way too easily than what I was expecting from this case. I think my Hohoo screen protector is so much better against scratches than the aluminum finished case since my screen protector haven't got any scratches so far.
A lot of people complain about this case because of the signal lost, but to me so far I have not lost any signals or the case cause a weak signal. I'm getting the same signal bar with or without the case. I think some people complaining about the signal lost with this case on have got a bad batch of the case.
Overall, I think if you want a really low profile case with really nice look on the back then this case might be good for you. This is not a drop proof case. It's the same thing that I said about Diztronic cases, this is not the case that you want if you think you are going to drop your phone. This case is basically to prevent from everyday scratches.
Did you ever receive that screen protector from Glassview?
Do the screen protectors need to specifically say for verizon? Or are they compatible with any model? I want to buy some screen protectors but they dont specify what model just lg g2

This is definitely a great case for those who are looking for something to make the phone a little easier to hold and protect the back from scratches. The outer lip lets me put my phone face down whereas before I would be afraid of scratching the screen.

....what are you talking about...
I use the VZW Screen Protectors they had because I got 20% off the phone (when you buy 2 accessories) and they were like $7 for 3. The VZW guy didn't put it on very well but I used the second one and a hinge method to get it perfectly aligned and centered.
I use a Incipio Feather Rubber Matte Case and it doesn't affect the Screen Protector. The Diztronics are cool but I don't like the big lips around the edges that will screw with the protector sometimes. No problems with the Incipio.
Screen protectors are compatible for all models of G2. Only the Verizon Cases are different because I guess it is a 1mm thicker due to addition of Qi Charging.

.....7.....GlassView Tempered Glass Protector (Price $32.99)
I have used this Tempered Glass Protector for over 2 weeks now and I think this is the one that I'm going to keep.
First, the application process was really easy for me. I installed it in like 30s and was done with perfect alignment. The size and the cutout of this screen protector is just perfect. It avoid all the lifting all around the screen and it is really case friendly that it fits the Diztronic cases. Im not too sure about the bulkier cases like the otterbox or bulkier incipio cases since these cases use up a lot of bezel space. The Thickness is only 0.23mm but The quality of the screen protector is really good. It has 9H hardness that suppose to prevent from everyday scratches and more and it is also shatterproof. The sensitivity and feel of this screen protector is just fantastic. I had no issue with responsiveness and my fingers were gliding through really smoothly. It was really easy to wipes off the fingerprints from the screen protector. Between SNP and Hohoo Screen protector feel of the smoothness wise GlassView is a clear winner for me.
I think this tempered glass is better than the MIME Tempered Glass. Since MIME Tempered Glass is cut short on the sides that doesn't really completely cover the screen but GlassView is covers the whole screen.
Overall, I think this is the best Tempered Glass screen protector that you can find on the market right now (at least for me). I thought about buying iloome flex but it looked too thin and I really don't see that much difference between just regular screen protector and iloome flex. I wanted more sturdy screen protector and I think I found my winner. I think I'm going to stick with GlassView tempered glass protector for a quite a bit before I find something that is better.
The Ghostek Bullet case ($14.95 on Amazon) might just be my favorite daily case. However, there are some things you should be aware of...
Pros:
The bottom of the case is completely flat and can be stood up on all sides if propped properly (Has a lot of straight edges).
Power button/ir blaster is unobstructed.
Volume rocker gives a very satisfying click when depressed.
Very sturdy design (The case and phone will survive several drops without shattering to pieces).
Has a nifty kick-stand (Case can be used as an impromptu tripod).
Very easy to remove and to install.
Camera portions have deep ridges (protects the lens from scratches).
Very modular (Consists of 3 pieces [top, middle, and rear]).
Easy to grip.
Not too pricy.
Cons:
Top, bottom, both sides of the screen, and both camera areas are not sealed from dust (There's a lot of gaps between portions of the case and the phone).
Did not come with a screen protector as advertized (maybe a miscommunication from the seller).
A bit bulky compared to a lot of cases out there.
Fingerprint and dust magnet.
Portrait View
Landscape View
In pieces
Gaps for dust and debris on Rear cameras
Huge gap on bottom of the volume and micro-usb ports.
Gap near the power button.
Conclusion:
Now we all know our awesome phone is aesthetically curved and is very thin. In an attempt to protect this case from falls, this case makes the phone bulker and have flatter edges.
Although this case will let in lots of dust and debris, this is my favorite case to date. It's very durable and very serviceable. I'm sure with some Sugru or some silicone sealant, all the dust issues can be addressed, making this the perfect case.
thats a nice review.. however, i read in a few places that not all 4 corners are a perfect fit. the fit for one of the corners is not perfect i heard. did u come across anythin like that?
i got a love mei case.. but i get an annoying rainbow-like streak on my screen. it happens when i tighten the screws and the screen of the case and m8 screen come into contact. can i use this case with nilkin 9H tempered glass screen protector?
this is a good case but imo it is a bit too bulky for daily use. and the gaps also makes a lot of dust go in and there is a slight chance of scratching the phone if not kept clean from time to time,

I heard the unicorn beetle case covers the lens quite a lot and it affects photography when its late evenings... low light basically.. what do u think..
and someone posted this about the nillkin 9H screen protector.
"Worst ever tempered glass used , after application everything was good but when I removed it after a month it took out the oleophobic coating of the display now I can't use my phone without screen protector I guess the adhesive is too strong better I use your phone without this "
whats ur take on this?

i have read the same about nilkin protector. there are plenty of other brands i heard Zagg, skinomi, noot, intelliarmor etc. all has good and bad reviews. i personally use a slim glass protector from retail store (forgot the brand name). but i maybe switching to a full glass protector too. my personal preference is Zagg as it covers almost the full front except the speaker grills. http://www.amazon.com/ZAGG-InvisibleShield-Glass-Screen-Protector/dp/B00JZYF7QO/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1422376922&sr=8-16&keywords=tempered+glass+protector+m8
but supcase i don't think it cause image disturbance. in some cases when using flash some problems occurred. i think someone mentioned it was only on the clear back version. In the black\black version i think it does not happen. i am not sure as i am not using one currently.
I recently dropped my phone/case and the frame split ?.
I've never had an issue with the case fitment. It's a snug fit and you'll have to uncomfortably stretch the frame to get it on.
Got a pretty good replacement on eBay. As per my original case, I taped the openings and made cut outs of the ports to prevent scratches when plugging things in.
Looking for a case that offers a good amount of screen protection so that the glass doesn't crack if I drop it. Anyone have any recommendations?
Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk
At minimum you'll want a tpu cover like a cruzerlite. It curves around the front over the curved glass edge where it's most likely to crack in a drop. Tudia and diztronic have well-reviewed covers as well.
I just bought a Hula case off amazon and I'm loving it. I have a wood back so I wanted a case that doesn't cover it since I love how it feels and looks.
I also just ordered the Hula off of Amazon. From what I can see it seems to have a good lip on the front and back, and also allows you to see the full back. I'm currently using the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro, and while it is a good case with much more protection, It's just too much bulk for an every day case. In my opinion, I didn't customize my phone just to cover it up with a plain case! I was looking into some of the clear tpu cases but most either cover the dimple or are missing a mic cut out on the back...
I have the Hula bumper case and somehow managed to drop my phone this morning while getting out of the car, and the screen shattered. I wouldn't count on it offering much protection for your screen...
I've seen phones in otter cases where the screen shattered upon dropping. I don't think there is any case out there that will protect against certain drops. If the phone drops and lands a certain way, it will shatter almost every time.
Hello!
Currently I'm using
Spigen Slim Armor:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AUR18D0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00
IQ Shield Matte
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BG2ELRI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
Its working horribly, there's bubble in all corners (See photos attached). If i'm not mistaken the spigen case is pushing hard on the corners top and bottom.
Is this happening to some of you guys?
What combination of case and screen protector are you guys using so that this doesn't happens?
Thanks in Advance
I have been using the ZAGG invisible shield hd dry combined with a Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro.
I LOVE this combo.
The screen protector went on relatively easily. did that day one. no bubbles anywhere and it's super clear. it wrapped around the sides easily with the special applicator included in the box. this is NOT a typical credit card squeegee install. I had it just like that for a few days until the case showed up.
What i like about this case is the two part sandwich effect. There is a frame that clips on the front of the phone and the whole ting then inserts into the back. sort of like the ottorbox cases. only half the price. The frame completely protects the edges of the screen protector, i don't thing there really is a way to accidentally rub on the edges of the screen protector and work it loose.
And bonus, it works in my QI wireless charger with no problems whatsoever.
I've got the IQ shield non matte and a Ringke Fusion Crystal case. It's shock simple and has dust covers.

Does the zagg protector should help in case of drops? And is it as good as a tempered glass in that case?

I don't know about best combo (because this is my first combo) but I have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid crystal clear and the Skinomi TechSkin on my gold platinum S7 Edge and so far so good. I just installed the Skinomi last night since I got it yesterday. My Spigen case I've had on the phone since March 5th when the case arrived. I ordered both products from Amazon.
The Skinomi I had did the same as the op, as for the Zagg HD amazon refunded my order yesterday saying something was wrong the product and they were canceling it.

Zagg HD Dry front and back with Otterbox Symmetry Clear Series
My UAG case pushed the top right corner had to trim just a little. This case seems to be more screen protector friendly. Both cases are pretty much identical is size. The otterbox is much stiffer and back seems more scratch resistant, the UAG is already scratched. UAG offers a little more screen protection in the corners and the buttons are much easier to press. Pics are taken on top of the UAG case for size comparison.

Nope, everything is laying down with no signs of peeling. The zagg did stay on the phone for 3 days with no case while I was waiting for Amazon to deliver and I did blow dry the edges. I don't think this made a difference, otterbox just seems like it sits on top protector better. The case seems to lack screen protection though, the raised edge on top and bottom of screen is only about 1/16 thick. I've never broke a phone but this might be a deal breakerbreaker for some.
I don't have a way of taking taking a pic right now, but I have the Spigen Tough Armor on my GS7E with a Skinomi MatteSkin screen protector.
The Skin has may be 1-2 mm taller than optimal, I have just the slightest push from the case on the top of the skin, but that could also be my fault for not as well aligning the skin as possible. Tough call. I'll probably be putting a new skin on this week anyway just because I'm OCD about it.
addendum 2016/3/23: replaced the MatteSkin last night and put the Tough Armor back on this morning. Alignment seems good. One 'speck' maybe under the skin near the top under the Samsung logo, you'll see some squiggles there where I was working against it this morning to see if it was a bubble that could be pushed out. {shrug}
Fit between the two seems *tight* but *may* be good or great.
After putting the Tough Armor back on I got some push against the bottom left edge of the MatteSkin but a few passes with a spudger seems to have smoothed it back out. See if it stays.
The inner edge of the Tough Armor on the front top/bottom seems tight and sharp-edged where it meets the phone. If this was backed off 0.5mm-ish there would definitely be no issue.
I know some don't like how much the Tough Armor stiffens up the buttons on the sides, but that works in my favor as it cuts down on unintended activation when the phone is in a backpack or pocket, and the shape of the Armor edge makes for a nice flat stance when using the kickstand or otherwise leaning on the side.
Final word: 97% perfect fit. The case ended up pushing the bottom of the screen protector a bit, the inner most lip edges on the Tough Armor was about 1 mm too far to play nice with the MatteSkin. Trimming the edge of the case with a sharp knife though does resolve it, if you can do that with a truly even hand it probably would be a great combo, my hand isn't that perfect so I had a bit of an irregular edge. Worked well though, otherwise.

I just received the Tech21 Frame case in the mail so will be seeing if that works well with the screen protector. Unfortunately I have heard it doesn't but here's to hoping.
Update: Tech21 Frame case will indeed push up on the edges of the screen protector.
The best screen protector I have used to date is from bestskinsever and their customer service is top notch. It isn't noticble at all and the cutouts are scary accurate.
I have ordered some from xtremeguard and the cutouts are too big and I ended up tossing them. The other brand I tried was some from illumni and they scratch up real easy, the fit was better than extremeguard but not by that much and their customer service sucked.

I just ordered the case friendly and edge to edge to see which one I like better. I agree, their screen protectors are top notch.
Zagg HD Dry + Speck Candyshell Clear
Only been on 24 hrs but it looks like a win so far. Both are seriously good quality products, but then they better be for the price.
Galaxy S7 Edge Case, Spigen® [Ultra Hybrid] AIR CUSHION [Crystal Clear] Clear back panel + TPU bumper for Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (2016) - 556CS20034 with the hollow bumpers in the corner works well with screenknight protector.
Obliq Naked Shield Black + ArmorSuit MilitaryShield FullScreen Extreme Clarity HD
Case : Obliq Naked Shield
Screen : ArmorSuit MilitaryShield
While I like the look of the Skinomi MatteSkin on the screen I wanted to try something else, for comparison. So I got the ArmorSuit and put it on, along with the Obliq case - changing over from a more stealth to more bling kind of look, truly.
Both the case and shield are a very nice fit for the device. Not as large nor thick as the Tough Armor I had been using, time will tell whether that's good or bad.
The ArmorSuit screen protector, once on and de-bubbled basically disappears. It's only the 1st day of use but it's very much NOT there, visually.
The Obliq case is also very lean, and the back is very clear, letting the look of the silver phone I have glare out at you.
Combined they seem to work seamlessly together. I was concerned in particular because the ArmorSuit is a full coverage, and not their case-friendly version, however in this case they seem to be working well together. I truly must have gotten lucky with the screen protector install because I literally can't see the edges of it vs the edges of the Obliq case. Nice.
The Obliq is NOT as much protection as the Tough Armor, to be sure, but it is prettier and alters the ergonomics and looks of the phone dramatically less.
The Obliq DOES appear to be a "fingerprint magnet" though ... time will tell.
The ArmorSuit does NOT appear to be a fingerprint magnet, which is nice. It is very glossy/reflective though, as a couple of the pics I've attached show.
I initially had this Roya kickstand case.. plus this tempered glass protector
I've decided to give the iq shield (not the matte one) a try per some recommendations on here.. hoping sensitivity is at least "close" to having no protector (like with regular phones + tempered).. i've had iq shield in the past and its been solid though i seem to recall sensitivity taking a hit.
I'm going with the Beetle Pro Full case (not hybrid one).. i guess its harder to get off if you use gear vr.. but i saw a rumor if you cut the bumpers off near the usb on gear vr a case may fit, unsure.
I saw the Spigen with kickstand.. it looks similar to the Beetle Pro.. can anyone comment on how slippery it is, or if its got a good grip like the Beetle Pro (full) and protects the edges too (easier to get off maybe)? Spigen appears to not have edge protection, so similar to Beetle Hybrid ($11.99 vs Spigen at $17.99).. I would think the Beetle Pro Hybrid would make more sense price wise.
I guess if you get the $99 2 year accidental damage samsung warranty then the hybrid is a no brainer.
Myself and now a coworker has a cracked screen with the case on. Mine broke last night. I made a previous post about it. Came into work to talk with a friend to warn her and she took off her case and showed me a similar crack that she didn't know she had until I told her about it. I'd advise anyone using it to get a different case.
What is cracking? I have one of these cases and this frightens me!
We need more details..
Did it crack only because of putting on the case? was it not properly installed and was forced?
Or was it overconfidence in the case, you put it in and threw it to test it?
Okay so my phone dropped between 5-6 ft from my shoulder. Landed on the top left corner. Where the vertical bar is, just to the left the glass is all chipped. I'll try and get some photos later. With the case on you can't see the point of impact. On the case itself you can see the scrape marks where it hit the plastic and broke. I believe the plastic shell was the cause of the crack, it being the first thing to hit the screen if it was the rubber first then the plastic over it wouldn't have done that. Also I have a zagg screen protector on and that was all cracked up and flew off my phone. Was sitting about a foot away from it. My coworker has a crack in hers too with the same case and protector. She just noticed that after I told her about my experience. She took her case off and noticed a crack near the top. That wasn't really noticeable with the case on.
Uh oh maybe I'll be going back to my other case
Hmmm I love my OtterBox defender it's a good case .I drop it a few time and it saved my phone. I wouldn't buy an other case
Here's the pics. The one on my phone, the chipped parts are all covered by the case. The other 2 is where the screen broke and left marks inside the case.
You should email otterbox. That's bull****
Sent from my Note 8 + Infinity ROM [emoji482]
otterbox is trash just like zagg and other overpriced brands. i don't get it why so many people from the US even buy those. probably because they are adviside at the local phone shops? don't get ripped off.
get uag, the samsung rugged case or even a spigen rugged armor.
for screen protectors only whitestone.
im sorry for your (phone) loss

Do you also use the included case Holster for extra drop protection? I use the case snapped into the holster with the screen facing outwards for that little bit of extra drop protection. I have been using mine for over a month and no issues, I also have a Black Dragon skin from DBrand on the back of the phone.
Last otterbox Defender I used was on an iPhone 4s, never again I promised myself. Reason? The hard inner case tabs left marks on the point of contact on the iphone 4s brushed aluminium frame after I removed it to sell it. Bad design.

No not in the case holder. I was done with a call and went to grab it off my shoulder and didn't grab it all the way and fell. I email them yesterday and just waiting for a repply back. If not I'll be making a call soon.
People buy otter box for the same reason they buy iPhone. Because it's a staple name. Just like Kleenex and Kellogg cereal. It's popular known and a brand name. I used to have an otter box, they break so easily.
Well I think it's just this case and the plastic shell design that's the problem. On my note 5 I had the commuter case and that thing save my phone so many times from spills mostly by my kids. But that design was a rubber shell with plastic over that to keep it together. I have even dropped it to show people the durability of it. The defender case design is the flaw here. I still believe they make good case but there not for everyone.

I agree, the hard inner case where the phone sits inside of is a big no no for me.

Sadly asurion doesn't have any note 8 too swap out with plus the deductible is 200. Going to have to deal with this for awhile
I never liked the Defender. Way to much bulk and as we see for the Note 8, not enough protection. I would contact Otterbox and try and get s refund.
The problem with the Defender is the sides, edges are front lip glass of the phone are always rubbing against the hard plastic shell of the defender. Don't want the edges of my phone rubbing on hard plastic at any time.
At least the Commuter & Symmetry have soft rubber hitting the phone instead of hard plastic.

But the Defender has a thick rubber as the external shell which would act as the first line of defense against a drop. The Commuter case only has the rubber on the edges (looks more thin and flimsy than the Defender series) and the other hard plastic shell is no where near the edges on the phone.
I have used the Defender series cases for years and have dropped my device a handful of times with no issues. From what I see, the Note8 Defender is built exactly like other Defender cases with the rubber shell on the outside and the hard shell on the inside so why would the Note8 be more vulnerable than other phones?
