Hi,i have been trying to flash the new v20 version to my Lg P880,and i have all the drivers installed, windows enabler etc...everything that says i must do in the tutorial-i did it...
But the problem is i cant enter the s/w mode without the battery.
When i remove the battery,i hold the volume - key and plug my usb cable in,and nothing happens.
I even tried it with volume + or holding both buttons-but it just wont enter the s/w mode.
I can enter it while the battery is still in the phone, but if i take it out-it wont.
What could be the issue?

it doesn't matter if your battery is in or not. try it with the battery still inside - if you can access S/W mode that way.
If you have desktop pc issue can be your PC usb port! Logically your phone need some kind of electric power to operate in SW mode, if you use front pc port or some kind of usb hub maybe they doesn't provide enough power, and when you put your battery its working..try to plug your phone in motherboard's usb port on backside of pc case!
I have similar situation where i had huge amount of different usb devices plugged in my pc, and SW mode only worked with battery...and sometimes lg tool asked me to reconnect the phone at the moment just before flash start (even so my phone was already in SW mode and recognized from lg tool), and then i had to put battery in phone otherwise lg tool said that phone is not conected!
But if you can go in SW mode, than you do not have a problem!

The solution is easy. First charge the battery conecting the device in Boothloader mode (press and hold camera buton and press power). Conect the usb cable in bootloader mode and instal the ROM you want.
good luck
Can some one explain the steps to get in to bootloader mode or usb mode. I have the same problem with my MDA. I need to get a usb mode to update the ROM. the battery says unknown and as it turns on its messing the GSM rom so no calls can be made out. The charging icon is always on, and I'd hate to have a $500 paper weight on my desk
thanks,
Adam
To go to bootloader hold camera button down (don't release it) then press the reset button with stylus (don't release camera button) then release reset button . When you have a tricolor screen then you can release the camera button. You're in bootloader mode.
My sgh-i757m cannot turn on, I cannot access recovery or download mode, and my computer will not register the phone when I plug it in using the USB. I have tried to install and re-install the USB drivers for the samsung mobile phones and even that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Maybe:
1)Your USB-cable is corrupted. So phone cant turn on because battery is empty. Charging with this cable is not possible, computer also doesnt detect phone.
2) measure voltage of the battery if possible or try in another phone
3) what computer did you use? Linux/windows?
Does lsusb command (linux) shows your phone? Please connect phone at the motherboard-usb-ports of the PC (most times the USB-ports on the bach of the PC)
4)does your phone show anything when trying to switch on / trying to charge?
eg. Screen backlight or touchkey backlight.
5)Try different usb-ports.
6)You can buy a so called jig for a few bucks. Maybe you can boot to download mode with that.
Do NOT press the thanks button

I use Windows 7 on a Lenovo V570. The USB cable has been working fine with my SGS2 but now even when I plug it in to my laptop or the wall nothing shows up to tell me that it's charging. I've also tried different USB ports and different USB cables. I think it might be the device itself. I had ~70% battery life when this happened.
Also, I hit the thanks button because I'm still half asleep.

I'ts a Hard-Brick. It means that your phone is actually like a brick
The only thing that you can try is to buy a USB-Jig (google it for more info) or going to the shop to repair it.

Either contruct your own jig (It's just a resistor between two pins)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707
...or check if you can borrow one. Check these threads out:

That's right
Good luck!!
I've installed APX Driver correctly. but My PC cannot detect device in apx mode.. although I've connected it in correct way.
I want to install recovery image. What should I do?
p.s. my 2x (su660) is in stock ICS and rooted.
I have the same problem. Your phone just got a bad USB port, you can notice it when you try to MTP/mass Storage, sometimes works, sometimes won't, the only thing that works everytime is the USB/AC adapter for charging the battery, it seems that only data broke.
I have developed a method to increase the chances of getting smartflash and apx working in this case. First remove battery and USB cable, then:
For Smartflash: hold down vol - > insert USB cable > insert battery.
For APX: hold down vol + and - > insert battery > insert cable.
It's better to do this with device manager window open, because smartflash and apx mode sometimes takes a few seconds to appear under the list, this is to make sure you won't miss the chance when it works.
I tried your "for APX" way.
I held down the vol + and vol -, and insert battery, and insert USB cable to PC.
then my phone's screen shows LG logo, and some seconds after, show the battery charging graphic.

This happens sometimes. Take out your battery and wait 10 seconds or more, then try again.
Also, do it fast, insert the battery then the USB cable right after, don't wait no more than 2 seconds after inserting the battery to insert the cable.
Did you try to mass storage or MPT to check if your USB data is broken like mine? Note that sometimes it works in the first try, just remove the cable and try again, if you get no response from your computer or a "USB Device Not Recognized", your are in the same boat as me.
Since mine is broken, I use AirDroid to transfer files.

Hi, i have a galaxy s3 and i was using it with a battery which is nearly dead. Last day, phone powered down due to low battery and it does not boot now.
I tried to enter download mode with the combination of [Power + Volume Down + Home] but it does not work.
Made a jig cable with 300K resistor and it does not work too.
I connect it to PC and device connected notif. sound heared but after couple of seconds its disconnected.
Phone vibrating and charge icon appears if i plug charge cable.
Are there another way to enter download mode or i have to flash it via jtag port with Riff Box etc. (bad news is i don't have it)
Charging goes OK, but app always show discharging! Also pc don't recognize phone in normal mode and flash mode (volume down). Motherboard is not damaged, changing battery and USB flex didn't help
