I believe this is a CM10.1 issue as i'm not 100% positive, I run cm10.1 maserati and whenever I try to use my camera it comes up with the error can not find external storage (I don't have an SD card in the phone); I can see all files using ES File explorer but it seems I can not use my camera unless I have an SD card. Is there a way around this or do I have to suck it up and buy an cheap sd card?

I'm a bit of noob to all this, so please bear with me.
I was previously running Modaco FR19, when yesterday I decided I'd finally jump to GB and installed CM7 nightly 204 using Paul's kitchen. Everything is working fine, except that my internal SD seemingly isn't being recognised. Any time I try to launch my Gallery or ES File Explorer, it gives me the message "SD Card unmounted or not present". When I go to settings/storage then it shows up normally as '/mnt/emmc' and will let me unmount or erase.
External SD card works normally when I put that in, but I'm used to leaving it out as I never use much storage space.
Another funny detail: when I connect the phone to Windows via USB then I'm not given the option to turn on USB storage, however that option appears if I do it while the external SD card is inserted. In that case, the internal appears as drive H: and the external appears as drive G:.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I didn't look into if CM7 and FR19 have different file systems so I don't know if its to do with that. Or would a wipe help? Would appreciate any help.
Cheers.
edit: With ES File Explorer, I can still browse to the internal memory and it will display all the files as it normally would. Do I need to change a pointer to the default storage location somewhere? As my gallery still won't find my photos.
edit 2: I changed an internal storage setting in CM, and then later moved some of my photos to a different folder, and everything seems to be working ok for the moment. If nothing else is screwed up, then I'm good.
Hello!
You could also try using "stock mount fix" for CM7...

I would prefer to install a external SD-card since they aren't really expensive any more...

Thats pretty neat, I didn't know about that, thanks. I'll give it a miss for now, as I don't want to risk screwing up my phone even more.
The only reason I haven't been keen on using an external SD card is because mine is only 2gb, compared to the 5gb+ that comes with the phone internally. But looking at prices, I might just go ahead and buy a bigger card to use.
I rooted my nook internally. When I use my card reader to install apps on my card they Dont show up on my nook. When the card is in the reader I can see them, but I can't see them when I open file explorer and look on the sdcard. How can I install APk files from my SD card? I also took my sdcard out of my rooted evo to try and load some of the same apps from my phone through titanium backup and none of them showed up in titanium backup. I cant figure out what's wrong......this worked fine on my nook tablet. Any ideas?
Is the card showing as mounted in the Nook?
Yes, it is mounted. Ive tried unmounting it, then took it out and put it back in and remounted it and its still not showing any apks that I put on it from my pc. I thought maybe it was the card, so I took my EVO card and tried it in my nook and it was the same thing. I can take the card and put it in my card reader and everything shows up on my pc. I even tried reformating the card wiping everything. I put the card in the nook and turned it on. I then unmounted the card and put it in my card reader and the only file that showed up was "LOST.DIR". I then tried to put an apk file in the lost.dir folder to see if I could find it once I put the card in the nook and when I opened up lost.dir there was nothing. I can take the same card out of the nook and put it in my EVO and go into file explorer and open lost.dir and I can see the apk file. So I know its something with the nook.
I can download apks from market, and from other places and I can install them without any problems. I am stumped!!!
So you can see the card when it is in the Nook, can see the lost.dir but not any files inside it. Is that correct?
This is not a fix, but have you considered installing DropBox and then just placing the files in the DropBox folder you designate on your desktop and then syncing with the Nook? You should see them then and be able to install.....
Come to find out, the sd card is bad. After I tried to put it back in my EVO to see if it would read again it would not. I also tried to write a big file onto the card with my card reader and it would show the file being on the card but it really wasnt as it never actually transfered the file to the card. Weird to say the least. I got another card and now all is well.
I have the above memory card for my N7000 (Rocket Rom v3) and am having problems verifying its capacity.
H2testw (Windows utility) verified it as having no errors and as 32Gb
ES File Explorer's SD card analyst displays capacity as 11.06Gb
SD Tools displays capacity as 11.6Gb
I have tried copying music (21Gb) to the sdcard using two methods. Firstly connecting the phone as a media device which was very slow and started to throw up errors after a while. Then secondly by removing the SD card from the phone and plugging it into my laptop (Win7) which was far quicker. This second method didn't throw up any errors BUT when I put the card back into my phone no files were found!
I am beginning to think I have a fake SD card which when plugged straight into my laptop is telling it 'Yes I'm a 32GB card' but for some strange reason allows it to copy too many files to the card without complaint. I am going to do some tests to check this out.
In the meantime is there an alternative utility which is guaranteed to verify what my card is either on Android or MS?
Thanks
Please try to do a SD card format on your laptop before putting it in your phone
It might be an issue with its storage that is preventing android from detecting the full size
If that didn't work, try to format the memory card over the phone (using settings)
Best of luck

Okay there were 2 problems, the first one was getting the memory card to be read by my note which I've now managed to do, not sure what I did but there you go, but it certainly wasn't reading before.
The second problem and this is a little embarrassing but when ES File Explorer opens up it displays the contents of the "/sdcard/" by default which on my old desire was the external sdcard but on my note its the internal memory! Not the external sdcard! To view the external sdcard you need to navigate to "/storage/extSdCard/" which is downright misleading unless you come from a Unix mindset of course
SDTools just seems incapable of picking up the external SD card and can only see the internal memory.

And BTW, there is no issue with SD Card and 4.4. Read up on it and you'll understand how it works.

Maybe out of topic, then Sorry, but who have 4.4 can move the Apps to SD?
for me ES is not working on 4.4 but file commander that come with stock is working!!
Stock file managers are the only ones that work on kit kat for external sd cards, This applies to any phone running kit kat, only system apps have full acess to the SD card
so in our case file commander is the only file manager that works with the external sd card
System apps are also the only ones that can copy/move/create/delete or download stuff on the external sd card, unless they have their own private folder AND if you delete the app then all files in said private folder go out with it too

im using total commander and i have full access to my sd-card.
that said:
i love total commander because of it's two pane view mode and those useful plugins. i've used it since windows 95 on my PC, so i was happy to see, that there is an android version of it.
i don't know why it's never mentioned on xda. are there any downsides to it? ive never had any problems with it. it makes moving/copying files so much easier
edit:
here's the link, have a look if you like
Maybe I'm not the only one to come up with this solution but I use es file explorer and adownloader and I could not get them to write to the SD card so I downloaded link2sd and converted both apps to system apps which then fixed both apps write issues. It has worked for me has anyone else tried it?!?

Hi guys, I have a problem with my external sd card (atleast I think). I can open files from it from my file manager( I use ES file manager) but I cannot access my files from my Music Player. And also when I try to open Camera, Google Music and so on they seem to force close. Also when i reboot the phone it says "Preparing sd card" and that's it. I have noticed that when I remove my external sd card the phone is back to normal and I can access all the apps in the phone. So I ask you this. First, is this a external sd card problem? And second, no matter if it's a external sd card or internal storage how can I fix it? (I have formatted my external sd card from my phone like 3 or 4 times and I formatted it 1 time from my PC). Please help me!
