Root? Not on mine? I opened the app and went to the menu and then hit uninstall which removes it?

Ah, I did not know this. Apologies.
Go to settings, security and then device administrators, check that it's not listed as an admin. If it is, uncheck it then go back to the app and you should be able to uninstall it.

Thank you very much, that is it , it didn't need root as I've been told b4 but I wanted to root anyway, now I uninstalled Mcafee and rooted my new Xperia Z ))
I had the same problem with root, the phone stops at the service menu, waiting for an action for adb to continue. While it's waiting press display test. Then root process will continue.

Hi
I just found the solution. No rooting needed.
Here's what needs to be done:
Go to Settings > Security > Device Administrators
Here uncheck the McAfee. It may ask you to give the PIN number so keep it handy.
Once u checked, you can uninstall it just like any other normal app.
Hope this will resolve the issue
simply go into Mcafee, click on the menu on the right top hand corner and there is an "Uninstall" option, select it and you've done.

was wondering how can I delete the pre-installed wallpaper that's on the phone?
It's really badly degisned wallpaper... how to delete it?

They are not in a directory.. they are on theLauncher.apkunder\res\drawableI know you can replace the wallpapers there with your own ( I've done this before) but I'm not sure If you'll be able to add more wallpapers to the gallery without replacing the default ones.
If I helped you please press thanx

Hi,
This is how I did it last night (by playing around with Root Explorer on my phone)
1. Open up Root Explorer on your X8 first..
2. then follow this path:
system > etc >customization > content > com > sony ericsson > homescreen > wallpaper (system wallpapers are here)
PS: if you can't delete the item, and it's giving you a 'read only' message, simply click on the 'Mount R/W' icon at the top of the page, which
will now turn to 'Mount R/O',, then you can now delete it..
hope that helps you mate :good:

I don't think you can add traditional speed-dials to dialling keys by long-pressing - it doesn't work for me - but surely "Starred Contacts" (one swipe to the right of the dialler) makes speed dial redundant? If you want one-touch dialling to specific numbers, you can always add direct dial shortcuts to your homescreen or in a folder via Homescreen Longpress>Apps>Shortcuts>Direct dial.

For some ppl this is disabled inside the phonebook.apk (that is the one responsible for the dialer, semcphone.apk comes in after you push the green 'dial' button).
Anyways, if this is still important to the OP and others, pls post the phonebook.apk from system/app and i will uplode a mod of it with the enabled speeddial thing, it will take under 10 mins to do =)

I've just tried to update my UK gear(v700xxuamii) via the gear manager, nothing doing. Saying I already have the latest firmware.
I'm about to try and flash it. Anyone flashed it yet?
doesn't work with kies either
odin either
Wonder how the updates work via the gear manager. Wonder if it knows I am not on a stock version of 4.3 and will therefore not download new firmware for the gear. In a similar vain to the updates on the note 2
Im in the UK but not showing any new update so did the update via Odin
Everything went on ok it is a non wipe update so did not loose anything the only thing i can see that is new after a quick look is in the settings there is now a Motions Option and in there you can change how the watch wakes up ie last viewed or clock or off and you can switch smart relay off
Hi I'm on 4.2.2 on s4 active still no 4.3 yet. will this update still work for better or worse. at the moment all i do not get is notifications and the weather does not work.

how did you do it via Odin. I tried and nothing happened is there a way to put the watch in download mode?
keep your finger on the button until watch says restarting then keep pressing the button fast until you get to the 3 options screen go to download mode then hit the start button for 3 secs and let go and it will go into download mode

Can you also change the motion? Or is the way it responds to motions improved? I hate the way it responds now. Sometimes I do the magical motion and it stays off. Seems totally random to me.
Gonna be keeping an eye on this update before I make the plunge.

App is good for security but once you activate it and enable password for applications it gives you really bad annoying experience. To fix the issue, please do following:
If you have Screen lock = Pattern then you need to change it to PIN
Go to Settings => Security => Device Administrator and untick X - Alert for XPERIA
Now go to Settings => Apps => All = Select X - Alert for XPERIA
