Hi,
My phone is already rooted.. got all the applications that I don't need removed..
was wondering how can I delete the pre-installed wallpaper that's on the phone?
It's really badly degisned wallpaper... how to delete it?
thanks a million :fingers-crossed:
They are not in a directory.. they are on theLauncher.apkunder\res\drawableI know you can replace the wallpapers there with your own ( I've done this before) but I'm not sure If you'll be able to add more wallpapers to the gallery without replacing the default ones.
If I helped you please press thanx

GDX doesn't have that folder. may be you are having these wallpapers from the launcher. install xperia arc launcher and remove the default launcher. if not done please tell me how you find the unwanted wallpapers.

Hi,
This is how I did it last night (by playing around with Root Explorer on my phone)
1. Open up Root Explorer on your X8 first..
2. then follow this path:
system > etc >customization > content > com > sony ericsson > homescreen > wallpaper (system wallpapers are here)
PS: if you can't delete the item, and it's giving you a 'read only' message, simply click on the 'Mount R/W' icon at the top of the page, which
will now turn to 'Mount R/O',, then you can now delete it..
hope that helps you mate :good:
@leekenwah
Bro he is saying that he doesnt have customization folder he is on GDX V29

I love you ..........
You make me look like a tech head lol !!!!
use quick adb pusher
you can pick up the file and drop it into the top box , then in the bottom box do a folder search in the phone till you are at /system/data (as suggested by Gfhoihoi 72) then press the push file button .
if in /system/app then tick the install apk box on quick adb pusher
the writing at the bottom will tell you if the file has been pushed successfully .
then use a file explorer i use this Root Explorer
it costs but i think of it as one of my top 5 must have apps .
use root explorer (or whatever) and browse to the new file you have in /system/data (or /system/app if the other is wrong)
click on the options button for the explorer and choose change permissions
all you need to do is make sure the permissions match this
x / x / -
x / - / -
x / - / -
reboot and all should be well
although as it is an apk , i'm not sure why it has to go to data and not to /system/app , maybe someone can chip in here ?

I don't think you can add traditional speed-dials to dialling keys by long-pressing - it doesn't work for me - but surely "Starred Contacts" (one swipe to the right of the dialler) makes speed dial redundant? If you want one-touch dialling to specific numbers, you can always add direct dial shortcuts to your homescreen or in a folder via Homescreen Longpress>Apps>Shortcuts>Direct dial.

it is there, but sony disabled it for some reason. if you have root, i can make a modified phonebook.apk with speeddialing enabled. just need the original apk as mine is modified to support a non-standard dpi and may not work propperly for you...

For some ppl this is disabled inside the phonebook.apk (that is the one responsible for the dialer, semcphone.apk comes in after you push the green 'dial' button).
Anyways, if this is still important to the OP and others, pls post the phonebook.apk from system/app and i will uplode a mod of it with the enabled speeddial thing, it will take under 10 mins to do =)

It is Xperia XAlert. If you have already granted it device admin rights, there is nothing you can do. Try to uninstall it and see. Or Open it and see if you remember the password so that you can disable it.

App is good for security but once you activate it and enable password for applications it gives you really bad annoying experience. To fix the issue, please do following:
If you have Screen lock = Pattern then you need to change it to PIN
Go to Settings => Security => Device Administrator and untick X - Alert for XPERIA
Now go to Settings => Apps => All = Select X - Alert for XPERIA
Click on Force Stop and do Clear Cache
