Which ROM, what do you need it for? Do you want it flashable? Why dont you just extract it from somewhere? I could go on and on and on, if you want anything, you ll have to share all your little secrets with us

Guys please suggest me on how to change the kernel without changing ROM, the only reason is to get a better battery back up

Just flash it via cwm, it will not affect your current settings... If you don`t have, you must root your phone and install cwm recovery, download your desired kernel and flash it...
And read a little bit in development section, it`s all there...
Yup, flashing a kernel will not change your ROM.
Press thanks to helpful answers!
Thanks bro

All stock kernel. If you use a MODIFIED stock kernel like Diana kernel by Huexxx, it works. But therefore you first of all need to be able to compile a new kernel and second you gotta be able to activate the swap function/implement it. So go ahead, learn how to compile a kernel, then google about implementing/adding swap function to a kernel, then if you still fail maybe PM Huexxx or Gabwerkz, or Redy06, because they know pretty much about such stuff

Is there no other files for this kernel...like the wifi module etc... is it just the boot.img?

The zimage (the kernel info and whatnot) is all stored in the boot.img.
However, some kernels need to be modified before it fully works with a select ROM as clearly demonstrated by Kangaroo Kernel by Markj. Z14 may not be fully compatible with a certain ROM and possibly break WiFi or something. Always make backup before flashing a new kernel so that you have something to fall back on in case something breaks.
sorry for a noob question.
actually i have recently been familiar with flashing kernels.
so anybody, pls. tell me what is the speciality of this kernel??
rather how to choose correct kernel for my phone??
i know how to backup rom.
kindly help!!!
is backing up a kernel the same process??
Actually I didn't care about backing up my kernel I just flashed it using 4ext recovery app so easy

yes, use a stock kernel gingerdx for the port. But when installing the rom not work :silly:
I already carry x8 custom roms the kernel but I have this problem with the stock kernel :fingers-crossed:
If you have unlocked bootloader, you need a stock kernel with modified ramdisk (what start adb at boot time), and check the logcat while the phone boot. Tip: use qtadb, with this app you get a real-time logcat window, and you can check what happen when the boot process stopping. (a typical error is an incompatible/missing binary or lib file)
