did you tried vol up button during call. Cause mines clear.
I also have the same problem from the beginning. Also during the call the volume is set on maximum though I hear almost nothing. When I compare the volume with the LG L9 from my housemate I hear a veery big difference. But I guess the only solution, will be giving it back on warranty.
Defect for sure, mine's stupidly loud on full

Think my Xperia T is having a little problem with the vibrator.
If i'm holding the device head up the vibrator makes a strange noise. Sounds like scratching.
If i'm holding it upside down the noise is gone and everything is fine.
Does someone experience the same problem?
Or someone who's not experiencing it?
Yes, the vibrator is really making some scratchy noise, no matter how I hold the device. Not a big deal, but it's not very nice.
Yup same here but I have to put the phone next to my ear to hear it or it must be veryyyy quiet

Hmm, mine doesn't make any noise at all. Sorry to hear you've got noise that's unexpected. You can probably still exchange it at this point no?
Mine vibrates fine but with less intensity compared to my Skate.

Since it's a hardware defect it should be no problem to get it replaced.
My T has louder vibrating than my Samsung's but its quieter than an Arc I have here.

ahh thats why sony releases devices late to fix all of their problems with a device !! i hope when v comes out , no issues p
That's odd. Mine works fine.
Have it too but very subtle. Not a big enough issue for me to bother much though, since I only need it to FEEL the vibration, not hear it
So i was trying to get me speakers louder after the ota update lowered the volume and i installed the loud sound mods, soon I wanted to try out faux kernel and when I tried playing music it played for a couple seconds and then the phone made then loudest beep sound you could ever hear. I wiped my phone and flashed a new rom fresh, since then the speakers have been at a lower volume. One of the reasons I got this phone was for the speakers and it's loud capabilities. Judging my situation, do you think my speakers are blown out, if so is there any way I could get the tampered bootloader off the phone so I could send this in for return and get a replacement? Please help, thanks!

A speaker being blown is not it being lower volume. A speaker being blown typically means 2 things.
1) The speaker is no longer functioning at all
2) The speaker is making a horrific "tinny" noise while playing audio that causes the listener to desire to hang themselves using speaker wire.

If you've heard a blown speaker you will know exactly why I said that.

i was thinking one of the rows of the speaker grills on the top set of speakers stopped working cause it sounds like more volume is coming from the bottom then the top when i put my ear too it. Plus its nowhere near as loud as it was before. Js
Bumping this thread as I have this exact issue. Top speaker volume is drastically lower then the bottom speaker, however the audio coming from it does not sound like that of a "blown" speaker.
Phew I'm not alone, I kinda gave up hope as a replacement phone is supposed to be coming in on Monday

I have the same issue. The Speakers sound is not nearly as loud as it was new. Its irritating to barely hear navigation while driving.
I bought my ONE from amazon.de and, after 2 months, I cracked the screen:crying: .I called htc and they sent me to the official service in my country(Romania). The guys there replaced my htc one (to my big and pleasant surprise) with a new one.I updated it to 4.2.2, but I got some complaints about my voice not being heard loud enough on this new phone.I don't seem to rememeber to have had this on the original one.....
Is it the mic?Or something to do with the network?Anyone elese having similar problems with the microphone during calls?
P.S. By the way, does anybody know how to enable/disable noise cancelation on this phone?
What I've noticed is that my calls aren't as clear as on my Galaxy S3, not sure if noise cancellation is doing too much, but my calls are definitely more "muffled", in fact I almost always have to use my headset to hear people loud and clear. Loudspeaker mode works fine though

Yes, I know about that, that is why I wanted to buy the phone as quick as possible, probably the first one, which I bought in april, was from the first batches, with that mic in it,and this one is not. But,stil, this doesn't explain the low volume....
I mean,I did a test: I put on a song on my ipad3 in a quiet room at about a quarter of the full volume and opened shazam on my htc one and got at about 1-1,5 meters away from the tablet. To my surprise, the mic recorded the sound and shazam recognized the song!!After this little experiment,my conclusion is that the mic is working ok,but, during the calls something is a little wrong!

yeah, you're right,it's like the person on the other phone is there, speaking in your ear!
But what about your voice,do you have problems making yourself heard to the other person?!
I rarely use the speaker while on a phone call, but today while on a call I noticed that while the other person talks, or makes any noise, I hear a slight static in the background. It's more pronounced if I have the speaker volume as low as it goes (still on speaker mode.)
If anybody can test it and let me know if they have it too, an easy way would be to just call a 1-800 number, such as 1-800-BEST-BUY. I'm curious to see if my speakers are starting to go out.
Once again, the issue is only there while they're making a sound of any kind. If they're quiet, there is no static.
Thanks!
[EDIT]
I just noticed it happens in non-speaker mode as well. Maybe it's just the fact that it's a phone call and it's not meant to be crystal clear?

on 4.4? and are you getting decent reception? sometimes its just Sprint lol
Yeah, 4.4.2, and reception is fine. It's slightly there with headphones, so I'm thinking it's just the fact that it's a phone call, and phone call quality is never the greatest.
My one does the same randomly. I find that calling back using gvoice makes everything clear. With all this NSA mess who knows

I tried a phone call and the volume seems really low even at max volume. Anyone else have that issue?
Also, what about using simultaneous voice and data - does it require an update to work?
I seen some other people say that voice and data didn't work together. Are u kidding me? My old Note 2, Droid 4 and HTC One Max all had data while talking on the phone.

I too noticed low call volume. Boss got the phone same time I did and he says the same. Tried the trick of holding down volume to all the way low and then raising it and that still didnt fix it.
Loving the phone, but if I cant hear people unless its dead quiet, thats no good.
Speaker problems
I just picked up the 64gb! I love the phone...a lot! I notice the low volume on calls as well, but I think there is something more going on.
The speaker sounds absolutely horrible. There is no way this thing isn't defective. It sounds like an old speaker with a busted cone that makes the "tingy" noise. :crying: Just curious if anyone else is having this problem. I listened to the one in the store, but it was very noisy in there. I couldn't get a good gauge. I am going to go back and see what is up. These things happen, I just hope that is what it is. I powered up my Razr Maxx again and listened to see. It sounded great. Please be defective!!!

I noticed this too, my speaker sounded pretty "fuzzy". Haven't had much time to listen to the speaker.
I didn't call anyone yet but I tested a movie and it sounded great coming from an s4
I fixed my problem. Turn off the stupid equalizer for the phone speaker. Much louder for everything.

It's somewhere under the sound settings.
Yeah in the sound settings under Audio Effects.
It seems the call sound is coming from the upper right speaker not the whole speaker strip. I find it a bit loader with my ear closer to the top right corner. Seems a bit silly and i could be wrong but feels this way for me.

I agree - I think the sound is very low.
This is compared to a Galaxy S5 which I could basically set down, not use speakerphone, and still hear.
I'm also experiencing low volume in calls. It's bad enough that I'm tempted to return the phone. I've owned many smart phones and have never experienced this.
The only "workaround" that I've found is to hold the phone in an unnatural position slightly away from my ear and with my ear at the top corner of the phone, and even then the volume is still too low. Totally unacceptable. Did they never make a phone call during testing?? I hope this can somehow be addresses via a software update asap.

I'm thinking this can be solved by a software update. I agree though, the volume is quite concerning.

If we had root it would probably just be a build.prop edit... Oh well.
I'll be waiting for one or the other
So if I'm on BT and switch to speaker on phone instead of talking through the car, the speaker on the phone is super loud, nor van be turned down. Anyone else notice this?

You're right. Seems weird that its not in the middle but its fine if you put your ear to that corner
There are little notches on the left and right side of the grill, my suspicion is that there are "stereo" speakers with one located above each notch. They may also have the audio configured to split volume between the two speakers.
Each call I have had was on speaker phone, and the call quality for me was MUCH better than my G2 and much louder. I took a call today and did not use speaker, I too noticed at first that the call volume was extremely low, I was clicking the volume up constantly and no change. Finally I moved the phone around a bit on my ear until I found the sweet spot.
It seems the call comes from the side, possibly one of the stereo speakers, I believe I remember having to hold the phone on the right side to my ear to get the best volume. It is plenty loud though, just move it around a bit and you will figure it out! Hope this helps!
