[Q] Bluetooth apk files!!! Help!!! - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Helllo guys.
I´ve just got a Razr i, and I am trying to receive apk files via bluetooth from another device.
But as all you know it gives error, probably some kind of security to avoid piracy.
I have searched the net, but I didn´t find any solution other than rename the file as .zip for example.
My question is: Is there any way to receive apk files via bluetooth without renaming the apk file?
If I root and unlock its bootloader, is there any mod or a custom rom that could make it possible?
Thanx in advance!

So... is it right to say that the razr I stock file manager that does not accept apk files? Does both devices need to have astro file manager installed?
Thanxxx

just change the file extension before sending the apk via bluetooth, example.apk -> example.txt
when received just change it back and there you are

STK Menu Application for HTC Magic Vodafone

Hi there,
I have the Vodafone edition of the HTC Magic/Sapphire. Vodafone has a SIM menu which is useful for being able to quickly check your account balance and topping up your phone - but my HTC Magic doesn't have the STK Application on it so I can't use it!
Does anyone have the .apk for the STK application? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet...
even if i upload it here, you wont be able to use it.
vodafone is blocking it. i flashed to a hero rum just because of that.
Why would they want to block it? They made the menu on my sim. And how would they block it?? If you have it, please upload it. Its painful without.
STK
here you go
Awesome thanks. This may be a rather n00b q but what do I do with the odex file? Do I have to have root access and copy it to a system location?
copythe extracted files to the sd card and press on the ine with icon.
it will try to install itself.
Haha oops, I only extracted the odex file originally...
Unfortunately you were correct... when I tried to install it, it said, cannot be installed on this phone... how can I circumvent this?
install another rom - as i did
was hoping you wouldn't say that... rooting the phone won't help?
nope. i had exactly the same thoughts.
the good thing is: i have qteks hero rom and its really nicer. android itself is nice. but this rom is even nicer. a bit slower. but nice
if u cant install the apk try to push the apk and the odex file into the apps directory

Ooooh. And by push do you mean using the sdk or just by copying using a file manager?

push using adb from the sdk
So, that would be:
adb push Stk.apk /system/app/Stk.apk
adb push Stk.odex /system/app/Stk.odex

restore stock ics apps

is it possible to restore stock apps in galaxy ote n7000 without resettind it...??
Yes you need root and a tool like root explorer. Just take apks out of rom and place in system apps.
Check that they have same permissions as other apps, rw and such and click them to install. Not sure if they install themselves with a reboot.

Open Root Explorer.
Scroll Down to System/app
You will see all applications there. Just Copy and paste to your external SD Card. When you want to restore just paste them to System/app using root explorer and set permissions as rw-r-r and reboot

How you set the permissions? Post a ss if you can.

Ok, download rom you want to restore from, usually a zip file, unzip it. Then with root explorer navigate to tar. Md5 file and open it, you might need to rename to tar file only, then within that search for a fokder that contains the apk you want, extract them, or copy them outside tar file then to your system app location etc etc

Just keep file pressed when selecting, then menu opsbup and scroll in menu to option permissions. Then select those according to permissions set inother files.
All this in root explorer. Not sure if a fix permissions from cwm recovery fixes this. Never tested it.

You might need to mount system/apps as read write r/w. That is a button on top left of screen when you are in that folder, just set it back when done

I'll teach you how to fish instead of giving it to you.
There is a website called google.com type your query there, together with e.g android, or xda or both, and youre sure to find your answers to almost any question.
Might need to query with different phrases or order of words, sometimes in steps.
Thats how I figured out last time. Sorry I wasnt able to answer stepwise step for step. maybe you make a tutorial with print screens, for future users that have same question
Damn I suck at explaining

Titanium backup update.zip question

Where is th update. Zip file located
I creaed update.Zip file but im not able to find it
Its located in /sdcard
i still not able to find it
when you create the update.zip file, and it's finished, the notification bar will have a notification about the path, check that. If it's not there, may be the zip was not created successfully.
/mnt/sdcard/update.zip
Was this solved? I can't find the file either.. it's not in the root of the sdcard, I've tried to create it twice and searched for it. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.
dont you get a notification of completion of the process and when you pull it down, you can see where its located ?
I'm having the same problem. If I look with root explorer, it exists on the root of the SD, but I can't see it in windows? Maybe it's a 2GB file limit thing or something?
but the update.zip is not more than 4MB

Yeah, I tried to make a smaller one, and it's still there but I can't see it in windows. I tried renaming it as well and that didn't work either.

Answering my own question - its definitely located in the root, just not visible in Windows no matter what I do. Use a root explorer to grab it and move it to a flash drive or remote network location, that's what I did and it worked great.

I used wifi file transfer. I was able to download the file from there.
I had this problem. Try simply unplugging your phone from the USB cord, wait 5 seconds, then plug it back into your PC. Your PC should now see the update.zip.
One of common prob's with MTP !!
just do a search in root explorer, i got 4 locations of the same file on my galaxy s3 so you can find it in anyone of those.
and yes it is the same file in all of those locations, i even tried to change the name on one of them to check if all of them changed and they did
/data/media/0/update.zip
/mnt/sdcard/update.zip
/mnt/shell/emulated/0/update.zip
/storage/emulated/0/update.zip
Move the file out of the root directory and put it a folder, any folder. It will then show up on windows.

This worked for me! Although I used the stock file manager. After moving the update.zip to another location using file manager, I was able to see the file via Windows as well.
just change the file name and retry. worked for me
C:\> adb pull /sdcard/update.zip

[Q] Tethering on HTC Vivid (Rooted, stock rom)

I tried many apps and none of them seems to work. Right now I have Titanium Backup installed, but I can't find any app that seems to be a Tethering blocker. What would be some possible names for that app? Also is there any other stealth Wifi app out there that I can try? Thanks.
If you search before you post... you'd find a thread with the fix...

I tried freezing restartapp and resetnotify, but it still didn't work. if anyone knows which app I need to freeze please help. There are too many to try one at a time.

I downloaded that zip file in that thread and got the ext.jar file, but I can't seem to delete the ext.jar file in the /system/framework directory. My phone is rooted, and I have super user permission. Is there any way to trick it to allow me to delete it? Thanks.

OTA File Location on HTC One

Hi,
I have downloaded OTA on my Telstra HTC One and would like to take out firmware.zip file from OTA file for easy flashing of stock recovery and boot image when I want to go back to stock.
I am not able to find the OTA.zip file anywhere on the phone. Does any one know exact location where this file is on the phone ?
Thanks
In downloads folder
That's the first place I checked but there is nothing in there.
I even tried with Show Hidden Files option and could not find OTA zip file anywhere on the storage.
Is there a chance that it is stored on internal storage which is not accessible via USB

If you have root use ES file Explorer to find it anyware on your phone. Then upload it to DropBox and download it on your PC whenever you need.

check here: /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache/
however, I believe you need root access to be able to access that folder.
