As some of you may already know there are lots of "funny" character accents in the Hungarian language. (in Greek, Polish etc. aswell)

Unfortunately the stock JB rom for T has an SMS app that sends these as Unicode - and that means our SMS can be only 70 chars long, and not 160 like normally.
The app has no option to turn off Unicode chars, and to use their ISO counterparts instead.
Yesterday I installed CM10 on my sisters Defy, and noticed that CM10's MMS.apk has this wonderful option.
Naturally I tried to copy this app to my T, but the installation failed. I also tried to get the app from the FXP CM10 that was created specifically for the T, but that one isn't working either. (I guess it needs other parts of CM10 to function properly?)
I would like to keep my almost stock ROM for now, so installing CM10 isn't an option for me. I also dislike Go SMS and Handcent...
Could someone please make an installable zip of the CM10 MMS.apk (and other parts that are required)? :highfive:
I have no problem with this on stock JB on my XT. My sms app can convert short SMS, 70 chars, to a long one, 160 chars. I have an option for that and I can tick it.

I have no idea, but why not use Chomp or Handcent? I want to say SMS Popup allows splitting too, but not too sure.
I need the messaging app from Froyo for Milestone 2. Could someone upload it for me? I will be appreciated

Hmm, I was trying to change the conversation.apk (it's a sms app) in Gingerbread to this from Froyo but it's not so easy as I thought I was trying to paste it to system/app and change permissions but it don't want to work with the 2.3.4. Maybe you have any idea how to do this
Very cool

Not sure if it's going to work straight from the box on the blurred phone... but you can always try Cyanogenmod7 on MM2 ;-) (see development section).

In CM7 we can use this froyo app messaging?
The are a few issues with trying to use the Blur apps in non-blur roms. I used to like the Blur clock (for the dock) and tried to get it into CM7, but gave up instead and just used the default app.
For SMS, have a play with goSMS, its pretty similar to the blur one (they have a few skins which are similar, I changed my up and skinned it differently anyway)
I get a bit confused here. I just can't just instal Froyo messaging apk to have the ballon like visualisation? Just using specific apps?
Go message doesn't work to me, when message have 160+ characters when I send te people who receves get symbols like "! & %" and can't read.
Hello, I would like to know, is it possible to keep a stock rom, and have the same keyboard as Cm 9? Don't know if it's the same as the normal ICS one. I use the ICS keayboard app from Google Play, it's really good, keyboard is the same, but I liked the way it underlined the wrong words in red, a bit like Microsoft Word!
And also, is it possible to have the same type of sms app? With the pictures of our friend always shown for new sms's and not just bubbles.

For your first issue. You wont get it to underline in red, because that is handled by the SMS app, not the keyboard. and why are you on XDA and using GB anyway?
So, this can't be done with a stock rom?
I'm on XDA because I used to have a Custom rom, CM9 then, Remics. But I use Tango quite often and apparently this app doesn't work with roms so this was kind of a deal-breaker. Moreover, tha camera app and the browsing experience was better with the stock rom, easier to watch Flash videos on my phone
Hi
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post but I flashed the Ripper Rom with Aroma options.
Since then I have a strange text message problem. Basically I can receive messages fine, but any message from anyone starts a new message chain. I'll be texting someone several times over the course of 30 minutes and every message I receive starts a new message thread/chain instead of putting it in an existing text message thread with my response.
I hope that makes sense.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be the issue?
Oh and this happens on the default message app and on messenger metro.
Thanks
I had that problem 2 a while a go. Dont remember wich rom and version though... U should ask in the RipperRom forum, they probably know how to fix it... Until then u can try selecting another sms app in aroma options (if there is one...) or download a sms app from market...

Do you know how you fixed your problem?
I tried posting there originally but I can't post in the development section until I have 10 posts and I don't want to spam a load of topics just to get access there, as I figured people really wouldn't appreciate that!
Actually i dont know what they did... Its probebly the sms app that needs 2 be fixed. Maybe u must wait 4 a new version or try some other roms. I use pandoriam and dont have that problem. U could try search the forum 4 a fixed sms app and flash it through cwm. Good luck

I've just tried GoSMS and it's working fine there, so I'm wondering if my favoured messaging app just needs a fresh install or if it's a problem that would require an update or a rom to finish.
I'm not a huge fan of GoSMS so I'm still hoping to be able to fix the issue but in the meantime until someone else pitches in or I figure it out it will do.
Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.
I think you may be using the AOSP styled mms app. It seems to be a little buggy that mms and can cause that to happen, so I was thinking of removing it next update. It doesn't happen with the stock mms app but just the modded aosp styled
I don't know if it is the same but my gf had this problem on Slim JB on i9000 she fixed it by changing the time and date settings of all things!
I think she unchecked 'let network automatically select date and time' and set it manually.
Maybe try that and play around with date and time settings.
It sounds random but it might work

Are you talking about the 160 character limit? I don't know that there's a "fix" for the stock messaging client. Not all phones can handle messages over 160, so you could run into issues dealing with other phones/networks.
You could try another SMS client. Pansi is awesome for GB, and has a toggle for the 160 character limit. It's my favorite messaging app and fully themeable. GoSMS was also nice, but I don't recall the ability to toggle the 160 limit.

The stock messaging application works well, and I use it on occasion (actually, I've trimmed things down and use it as my primary right now). It just splits large messages into parts. Some carriers can't or won't deal with large messages.
Pansi is really nice. I'd use it with adfree; the older version of Pansi was a no-ad option, but they've recently changed. It's still an awesome app.
