X8: MiniCM latest nightly with latest nAa kernel.
Everything flashed in the proper way.
Sd card partitioned in CWM with swap partition and CWM's default ext.
Overclocked.
Class 6 4GB SD card in phone. (no money for other so don't even think about advicing to get a new one).
Sometimes I have random reboots. Sometimes after random reboots the sd card gets corrupted and needs to be partitioned again. It happened in earlier nighlies and versions of MiniCM10 too. It's annoying. Anybody have a solution in minicm10 for this?
and another question: how to set swapiness? I tried to edit files with ESFileExplorer with root privileges, but didn't let me.

Maybe, maybe ,maybe it's a bug If other people faced (read comments or bugs list ).
-remove partitions
Or
-flash back to a gb rom+kernel
Or
-use sdcards warranty
Or
-use 2gb card which comes with phone cause it's almost impossible to repair corrupted , this happened to my last sdcard & I tried every stupid method but not working.

sd card is not damaged just corrupted. Everytime this happens I need to repartition.
I didn't had any card with the phone, it was a gift from a friend, he didn't needed anymore...
So this is the only card. When it get corrupted it can be repaired by partitioning again. BUT it would be nice, if there would be a fix for this...

That card is not usable any more if is corrupted, we call that a "damaged sd"(and if happens after reformatting)
Best way is to try another rom to make sure sd is ok or not.
But but there's a way to trick android (your phone, your risk),
do this: (this will stop "checking for errors" error & makes phone more stable {this file also repairs partitions so it's 50/50 for working})
Remove or rename file(rename to keep a backup is better ) " fsck_msdos " from this destination :
System / bin ------ > restart & then reformat sd from recovery ---->bootup
report results

Of course my SD card is ok... It happened many times this "corruption thing" and I partitioned it again and again and it worked again and again but it happened again...
So it has to be a bug or something in the ROM or Kernel. Is there a FIX for this?
For changing the swappiness: Download Swapper 2 from Google Play. It is an option in the settings.

Maybe this is because you are using Swap.
Thank you to all the developers on here.
I recently wiped everything, flashed the Baked ROM and got the following error messages when trying to use the camara:
---------
No Storage
No external storage available
Insert an SD card before using the camara.
-------------
I have just over a gig available on my internal card and have 27 gig on my external card. So the capacity is not the issue. I also can't download podcasts since it is giving me a similar error message.
I tried sdswap but when I went to reboot, got stuck on the boot animation for a half hour.
I then went into cwm recovery, wiped everything and tried the AOSP ICS 4.04 ROM, but ran into the same issue. I then wiped everything again and tried the AOKP 4.2.2 ROM and am still getting the same errors.
My phone works fine, but I can't take pictures or download any attachments till this gets fixed.
I searched the forums for the exhibit and saw some temporary fixes.....but all of those fixed are gone when phone is rebooted. I don't want to have to do a fix after every reboot. Please help.
Thanks,
David

This is bizarre, I wonder if your device is/was/has gone bad? Also I would avoid SwapSD unless it's been determined the ROM is 100% compatible based on user comments. Those things cause more problems then they solve sometimes. Also have you checked file apps like ES Explorer to see if your cards are being read? Check settings/storage and if you are getting reads on all three storage elements then something else is at work. In that case IDK?!

Thanks. Es file explorer recognizes the external sd card...but clicing on storage (internal sd card), it says its unmounted.
I rebooted into cwm recovery... mounted only the internal sd card, rebooted, and es file manager still says it is unmounted. You are probably right, probably a hardware issue, but it's weird how if I go to system settings, storage, it tells me how much available internal storage I have available which implies the internal sd card is mounted...

During my recent trials, I have learned that you can't mount your ext sd card with CWM, but you have to do it with a computer (at least, that's what I read). CWM was not recognizing my ext sd, either. I did not spend time learning how to get the ext card recognized, as I was worried about solving other problems, but I do remember that CWM can't mount your external card.

I think you meant to say internal sd. Either way, I did read that hooking it up to the laptop will mount it... but I don't want to have to do that after everytime I reboot.... just seeing if there is a permanent fix.

Btw you're not using an app called SD Card Boost are you? If so that is what's causing your problem as the exact same thing happened to me when using that.

Nope--- this whole thing is due to me being a NOOB. NOOB's take notice! Don't be like me.
I realize what the problem was....after switching to baked bean ROM originally, I did a backup with cwm... not realizing that the back up would take most of my internal sd space.... I had less than 100 mb left on the internal card and so the internal card shuts down, even though it has plenty of space to take a few pictures or download some pdfs... it just wasn't accessable.
I freed up another 100 mb on the internal... and lo and behold I can take pictures or download. Now I have the option when using the camera to use the external sd card (not sure why it doesn't give you that option to begin with)...
I was looking at the wrong setting earlier.... I saw I had .96 gig available... but that must have been the ram...not the internal sd card.
Sorry for wasting everyone's time.... I am back to the 4.2.2 AOKP rom and loving it. Sorry everyone.
Hey, I'm kinda having a similar problem (since it's similar and from my lack of posts I cant post on the 4.4 thread. I thought I'd ask here ).
When I flash the 4.4 ROM, it seems my external and internal sd isn't mounted, it gives me an "invalid path" when using Es File Explorer.
Not sure if this is a problem everyone has and it's not fixed yet (If its even a problem at all), or I'm just having this problem, lol.
I'm not receiving this problem on any other rom I flash just the 4.4.
Note: I wipe Dalvik, Cache, and Data. I also tried wiping my system and Ext SD. I tried to Google a solution, but all I found was weird ritual answers, like take out battery and sd. Wait 5 min, while you wait, do the Hokey Pokey, lol.

Unfortunately this is a bug with 4.4. The internal card actually should show up twice in ES Explorer (4.4 ROM only), and only 1 path invalid. The external card has path problems in Titanium Backup and RAM Expander. This is why I ended up not using KitKat for this phone.

Hi Guys can anyone help me with partitioning the sd card on my galaxy ace 1.I have downloaded and installed the thunderbolt v4 rom "which I really like. Trouble is following various methods mini partition and apart inc . I cannot get the rom to see my sd card.
I have tried partitioning the ex4 before the fat 32 and after. and vis versa. but nothing enables the rom to see the second fat 32 partition. I have wiped the sd card "overnight and started afresh, still no go.

Try partitioning via the following method then wipe data, cache and dalvik and then install the rom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U_Sp_BtzrM I'm sure the guy is using that rom and it works for him.
If not i can't really help apart from suggesting using "Super Stock" rom instead. It's very fast and stable and swap works perfect.
Thanks
Thanks I'll have to concentrate and try to go through it slowly. I don't remember seeing swap in the original rom installation instruction. or do I know what it is!
The battery life improvement of thunderbolt rom is one of the reasons it appealed to me . Does the super stock rom have good battery life?
Thanks Brian UK

The version 4 specs of thunderbolt does say: "Kernel changed to Battery extender swapall v3 supersu 0.97"
So yes it should work. The Super Stock rom has a battery extender kernel too with cronmod (for swap).
I think in thunderbolt the swapall is enabled by default whereas in Super stock you have to choose the cronmod option during install of the rom.
Unfortunately i made a big boo boo with my ace and now it's a doorstop. If it was working i'd install thunderbolt so i could help better but i know for a fact superstock works perfect.
Formatting the sd in CWM is simple, format in fat 32 via pc first then put the sd in the ace, boot into recovery, go to advanced and choose "partition SD", select the size of the ext partition and on the next screen set it to "0m" and that should do the trick for thunderbolt.
With superstock and the mini tool i had setup 9gb of internal memory. I was loving it until i decided to try the Miui v4 rom. Do not touch that rom whatever you do!!!!!!!!
ta I'll give it a go and report back
Ok ta .Ill give it a go and report back
still same
Hi ,I tried as suggested , the max partition under clockwork was 4 gig, which I set "My card is 32gig"
I rebooted and still the same . Link to sd give the same script error ! I noticed the partition is ex2 . ! Thunderbolt is supposed to have ex4?.
Could the sd card be getting tired . it must be getting fed up with constant wipes etc

You shouldn't need to use a third party app like link2sd. LOL @ "it must be getting fed up with constant wipes". Although wiping does slowly decrease the life of an sd card, modern sd cards that are good makes have like 100,000 write cycles so your contribution is minimal. Why the sd is ext2 after formating with cwm i don't know. Which version of cwm are you using? Try the latest if you're not already using it. (just really stabbing at thin air but worth a try)
If that fails or if you're using the latest i can't really help any further with the thunderbolt rom and i'd bet you'd rather use more of that sd for internal anyway so as i suggested b4 go with the superstock rom. The mini tool definately works with that so you could partition more space.
I'm trying to find a an old fan speed controller i can use as a variable resistor to try and revive my phone. If it works i'll be able to help more with thunderbolt, depends on my luck.

mmm... "Thunderbolt is supposed to have ex4" It means all the device partitions are in .ext4 and yeah it support .ext4 as external partition
@Way333 AFAIK there is NOT Thundebolt kernel for GT-S5830 but rather GT-S5830i
ex4
Does that mean that there should be no fat32 for media files? How would I imput them then if the computer could not see the partition?

To create an external partition you need to format your sdcard and to partition it in 2 partitions:
1. FAT32 (Primary partition)
2. ext4 (512 mb is enough)
Use MiniTool Partition to do it

Download the flashable zip and flash it via CWM following the steps I've posted, it should work mate
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43312058&postcount=6
still same
I have followed instructions carefully but . I still have the same issue that the download link is seen as an install icon
not as a normal winzup file like the other available downloads. I can see the downloaded file via "my files" but not via cwm 5.0.2.6 Anon
I found that the middle link on the xda site gives me a winzip file 2+
I have followed instructions to install script zip .But looking at the sd partitions via mini tool
i see that the second partition is identified as "other". and trying to use it in the phone gives me the same script error as previosly. I don't see an option in cwm to format as ex4 ?

CWM can't create .ext4 partitions you'll need to create it using minitools partition, gparted or similar
How to then
I am just following the steps in your instructions ,ie op 8 /format sdext

No further forward

:weird: maybe a rom problem?
If you have created corre tly a .ext4 you can test if it's working using Link2sd app
I'm finding the script error via link 2sd . I've just checked the ex4 partition using a parted ,There is an error sign but no explanation. Deleting and redoing
the ex4 partition gives me the same error. In the interim i've ordered a smaller sd card. This still leaves me with the need to reboot for wifi to connect. Shame as i otherwise like the rom!
Hi,
On the first screens, i've no free space on the phone storage and i've about 3 or 4 apps that need just less than 1gb... What does mean the 4.31gb "other" ?
What can i do to fix that ?
As you can see, part of my application disapeared because of the way in the storage changed...
For example, when i take a picture it's located in storage/emulated/0/picture/screenshot and before it was simply picture/screenshot.
I tried to do a factory reset but nothing change after that...
Thanks in advance

It seems like you have just under 1GB of free space on phone storage.

Ok. Thank you very much that is all I needed to know.
It seems like there is nothing you can do to fix that.
Your applications disappeared because you moved them to the sdcard, but something else also happened or you just need to restart your phone so they will reappear. If you remove your sdcard after moving them to the sdcard, they can appear greyed out like that. There can also be a problem with your sdcard and that is why your apps appear like that and your pictures save on your phone.
Try to change your Primary storage by going into Settings-Storage-Primary storage and set it to Automatic switching. You may have to restart your phone.
I really think there is a problem with your sdcard, ranging from a minor problem all the way up to it is not working anymore.

First, thanks for your answer !
I know there were a part of "other" but this part was not more than about 2 gb before. I don't think the problem is my sd card cause the application i showed you on the screenshot are the only one i did not move ... For example, i had Hearthstone moved and it steel on my sd card.
The picrture was just an example, all my memory moved to emulated/0
And the same for settings/storage/primary is the same than ever
When i plugged my phone with usb to my computer, the internal storage were about 7.60 gb,... And look what i can see now
I can't download what i want with that...
All of that happen when i followed a tutorial to upgrade RAM with ROEHSOFT. I was needing to partition my EXTERNAL storage, what i did. I make a swap part about 3gb and the rest for the storage in fat32. After the partition, i had my 2 part but my internal storage change like what you see on these pictures. I think partition is now in my internal storage & that why the default internal storage way changed... But i have no idea to fix it... Can't use backup, can't part internal storage again, can't factory reset cause it has no effect after reboot...

I think you should delete the apps that are showing that they were on your sdcard then try to reinstall them. They should be in Settings-Apps.
I just looked up the ROEHSOFT RAM Expander (SWAP) app. I have never heard of this app before, but it had this as a note:
Note: only FAT32 Drives can be used for Swap. When you are using a Partition then use fat32 format or swap otherwise it will not be visible in the Drivelist!
It may not be working right because you need to use a FAT32 partition for the SWAP/RAM. If needed you can use Aparted to format the sdcard then use ROEHSOFT again to create SWAP. I found this tutorial. Is this how you did it or something different?

That's what i did but it cause the different default path in my internal storage.
Finally i flashed cwm and wipe all + factory reset. Now i have what i had before. I still have 4 gb use by android so i think i had this before... ? I did not find any rom for the 64 bits euro, are the cricket/boost/etc working on it ? Or maybe there some roms i did not found like cm11 or cm12 ?

Where did you get CWM from? Did you use this recovery? As far as I know, there is no ROM for 64-bit, you cannot use the Cricket/Boost/etc. Those are just for 32-bit. There is a kernel.

ClockWorkMod is the only one i know how to use so i flashed this one
I saw somewhere that the stock rom was also in 32 bits so i'm gonna see no difference if i install cm11 32 bits, right ?

Oh, ok, I didn't know that CWM was available for the 64-bit version. Thanks for that info.
As far as I know our ROMs are KitKat based, which only supports 32-bit devices. It will be good when Lollipop hits our devices as it supports 64-bit devices, but I'm not so sure if the ROMs that were built for 32-bit devices will work for a 64-bit device. You would have to ask the respective developers of those ROMs. My guess is no.

So, i will probably waiting for 5.0 ^^
Thanks for your help !
Hello, everyone!
It seems that there are many misinformation about using an external micro SD as internal memory when installing any of the (great) Marshmallow ROMs available to L90, so I decided to create this thread from my experiments and leave it open for discussion.
What is it?
With Marshmallow you can use an external uSD as internal memory, what is great for L90 because it has 8GB of internal storage, with only around 4GB available for users.
How does it work?
It's a Marshmallow feature so it's built-in, no need of extra apps. It will format a uSD inserted in the L90 micro SD slot and use it as internal storage.
The uSD card will work from now on only on your phone, but you still can unmount, remove and replace it with other cards as needed. All contents from /sdcard will be moved from internal storage to the uSD, and all apps that allow native "App2SD" will be moved too (you can choose to move or not, if you don't you can move apps manually later). Not all apps can be moved, but you can "force move" ones that don't support native App2SD, but be aware that it may break things, like widgets, etc.
How do I use it?
There are two ways to enable adopted storage:
1. it will offer you the option to use a newly detected uSD as internal or storage, so you'll probably see a notification when you insert a new uSD on your phone, or right after installing any Marshmallow ROM;
2. Go to "Storage and USB" in Settings app, select your external card, tap the three dot menu and choose Settings, it will then open a page where you can Eject, Format (erase) or Format as internal option.
Either way you will be guide through the process of formatting your uSD as internal memory and moving your data. Obviously, your micro SD will be formatted (erased) so backup any important data first.
Advantages
The main advantage is that it will improve your internal storage a lot. Even if you use a 8GB uSD, because it will move everything from /sdcard folder to the uSD. Also, if an app is moved, then all its contents (data, obb, cache) will be stored in the new adopted storage.
Problems
From what I've tested, the only problems are that even a Class 10 uSD is slower than internal memory and not as reliable. So make sure you use a fast uSD (I'd say Class10 is the minimum) and a reliable one. Of course, if you use the uSD to move data between your phone and other devices then you probably will want to keep using it as external (aka Portable) memory.
Observations (may be updated later)
1. If you don't choose the option to move your apps when formatting the uSD you can do it manually later: go to Settings, Apps, pick the app you want to move and then click on Storage, you should see a page with a button to move the app (and app data). If you see "Force Change" then the app doesn't support moving to external storage natively, and doing it may break something;
2. All internal storage will be used only for apps and apps data when using adopted storage, everything else will be on your external uSD, what means /sdcard is now on your uSD. Also every app and app data moved to adopted storage will be on your external uSD too, so removing the card will make those apps unavailable as well as any data stored on /sdcard;
3. You will still be able to access all data using MTP (it will show only Internal Storage, as /sdcard is on your external uSD now) or using TWRP 3.0.0 or later (/sdcard data will be available on the /emmc folder using the built-in File Manager, or separately using MTP). MTP on TWRP was very slow for me when I tried to use it, so slow it's useless for files > 1GB, but maybe it's because I have used Android File Transfer on a Mac, your mileage my vary;
4. Sometimes the format process may abort and Android will show your uSD as "corrupted" (maybe it's the wrong word for it). Don't panic. If you want to test your SD, use it on a computer and do a full format using FAT format, it will test the card. Simply restar the process if you've tested or you know your card is OK. If it still says your card is slow, don't worry, it may work fast enough for you (again, I am talking about Class 10 or higher);
5. When a uSD is formatted as internal storage it won't be "readable" anymore on any other phone or computer (OK, maybe you can on a computer that can read f2fs and its contents, but not the usual and normal way);
6. Going back is complicated: probably you will need to use a computer and MTP to copy the data from /sdcard to it, uninstall or move the apps you want to keep back to internal memory and then format your uSD card again as external memory.
7. It seems that you can use one uSD to both adopted and portable storage, see the link bellow (not tested, read the other page linked too):

Only formatting uSD as internal storage won't brick any phone. It's even listed on Motorola website for their phones. What else did you do?

While formatting the sd to make it internal storage, the screen just went black..so i search what's wrong, they said i need to wipe the partition and create a new one......before i did that, i can boot to the logo and booting screen still black on the home screen tho, but after i did that, my screen is totally black, wont boot
@DeathCrow17
Sorry, but I've done it more than twice and never had a problem. I don't know why it happened to your phone, maybe it was just a sad coincidence. Anyway, if you still can enter download mode you can flash stock firmware using LG Flash Tool. If not, there are fastboot and the hard unbrick tutorial, you may get more help in those threads. Good luck.

Can anyone confirm that TWRP_3.0.0-0_060216_L90_Testbuild.img does indeed work with adoptive storage

As I reported in OP, Dark Blue version from the post bellow works just fine as described.

Either way should work if you do it correctly. I flashed the zip using Rashr if I recall it correctly.

No, simply flash it and next time you boot to recovery you should see the new version.
