Now I'm having my doubts that flashing LT30p/a radio really enables AWS on LT30at, despite the service menu showing to "UMTS_BC4" is enabled.
Would someone be willing to test this?

Hello,
I need help with a Blu WinHD: I purchased one while in the US as a replacement for my broken phone, but once back in Europe I discovered I had no 3G connection.
A quick web search and I found my model variant (W510U) only supports 3G/HSDPA at 850/1900/1700 MHz, while my Italian provider offers 900/2100 MHz bands (Vodafone IT). However, another variant does exist (W510 L), and actually supports 850/1900/2100 MHz.
Since both phones feature the same SoC (Qualcomm MSM8212 - Snapdragon 200), will it be possible to change the 3G band used by my version? I was thinks about flashing the other variant firmware, or trying some dial string and see whether I can change Cell Network settings...
Any tips?

I'm looking for the same
A quick search online gave me this:

You need to be a VIP to download that. But still, I don't know which flashing tool should be used :/
Don't forget to reply if you find anything relevant!

I'm not sure. But the 3G bands always had been a hardware thing. So you can't change it changing firmware or something. It's not like unlock, it just doesn't have them.
@anthonws Wonderful, I'll try to decompile this firmware in order to discover whether there are some dial strings that could help. But of course, being able to flash it at once would have been better. I'll look for any other flashing options as well.
@m1k3_ I was thinking the same at first, but later on I couldn't explain myself how could that be possible with the very same SoC on both model variants: if the SoC embeds the radio controller, what else can pilot the 3G bands? I would have better to get the chance to read the detailed datasheet of the Snapdragon 200...
Unfortunately, I finally got a reply from BLU Support Service, stating that 3G bands are actually hard-coded, so no software change can actually modify them....
I'm very sorry about that, I got to like this phone very much....

I brought BLU HD W510U as well. But my question is : does your W510U have iuminous backlight for back key, home key, search key at night time?
Model SM-G920TXAR3COK1
Android Version 5.1.1
I have been trying to activate the hidden menus on this device with the ultimate goal of using the menus to force LTE only. I have rooted the phone using the latest version of Odin (I believe 3.10.6 or 3.10.7). I have tried multiple third party apps and I have tried side loading different apk's through adb, but nothing seems to work for me. I haven't been able to find any threads about my situation that could point me in the right direction and would appreciate any help!
That is a cellular south firmware, so is that your carrier? If it is, continue reading, if not you should probably flash the tmobile rom.
What happens when you dial *#0011# ?
And then try *#2263#
If neither of these work it's likely that the hidden menu access is removed from your firmware version by the carrier and there is no way to change that that doesn't involve flashing new firmware. If the phone is carrier unlocked you could flash tmobile firmware on it since it uses the same phone model. Tmobile has hidden menus enabled. You should of course research the risks of doing so and whether that would stop you from using certain carrier features. [I know nothing about Cellular south.]

When I dial *#0011#, I get the ServiceMode menu. Is there more settings to this?
When I dial *#2263#, nothing seems to happen.
2263 is the section of service mode that allows you to specify band selection.

It seems it's removed from your firmware.

I flashed the phone with the T Mobile firmware and I am able to access both codes. However, I am not able to get to the part in the service menu (*#0011#) in which I can select an LTE only mode. The menu doesn't seem to respond to any key inputs. Currently, the phone is unrooted with a firmware of G920TUVS3DOJC. Does it have to be rooted again in order to be able to access that part of the menu? Or is there a different way?
Ah it seems I misunderstood your question a bit. I thought you wanted to force a specific lte band, which 2263 can do. 0011 is not an interactive menu, it's just a status screen. I don't know of any way to force it to LTE so that it never drops off to other mobile technologies.
Edit: If you go to 2263, under band disable settings, select WCDMA [this is I believe what samsung calls HSPA for some reason]. You'll see this: https://puu.sh/nDjIp/d95be8b0a1.jpg
Tap each band there once and the [*] will appear which means it's disabled. Disabling them all should in effect disable HSPA. Hope that helps. Almost positive there's no way to disable things like edge or gprs though.
Hi guys,
Sorry if this was answered in another place, but I was unsure.
I was looking info about unlocking 3G bands and I ended up with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
OP says that it may work with other phones so why not?
I did most steps, the only "issue" that I had was that I didn't have a diag mode item in Device Manager on Windows., only "LGE Phone Serial bla bla bla"
So, I added a new port in QPST Configuration using the COM3 (the one that was using the Serial LGE item) and I could read info from the phone but this is the weird part: Everything in UMTS system is checked, but if that were the case I wouldn't have the need to enable AWS on 3G.
Anyone did have success enablign 3G bands on VS980? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Im also interested and looking for an answer to this, the process is pretty much complicated so i will wait till someone more experienced try this and give us feedback.
There's a thread here which shows how to unlock LTE band 5 since the hardware supports it. Did this work for everyone who tried? If not, what issues did you have? Were you able to recover fully from the issue? If so, how?
I would like to unlock this band since Jio uses it, but I don't want to take any unnecessary risks.
Most of us know there is a SVC menu we can get to that gives the ability to select LTE bands to enable. I'm wondering if anyone in the US has lgup the EBW rom and then enabled the US LTE bands?
While it's easy enough to get to the menu and click 'enable', the question is does it actually work? Are those bands then actually enabled? The only way to be sure of this is to use (something like) LTE Discovery, which will tell you what LTE band you are using with a tower at that time.
The EBW firmware doesn't list the bands I need for T-mo, so just wondering if anyone has actually been able to enable them?
