My brother purchased a used Note while being an exchange student at Malaysia. Is it possible to flash only a nordic kernel to his malaysian 4.0.4 ICS? If I download the latest nordic 4.0.4 firmware and somehow flash only the kernel with ODIN to his phone?
If you flash a kernel through odin it will increase the binary count and a triangle at GT-N7000 screen. It's better to flash through cwm

i have U.S kernel/firmware I've Bought it rooted with that kernel....
so i want to change firmware/kernel to israel kernel
my question is: can i change to any kernel or just to that kernel??
and tell me how can i update to israel kernel... i have israel kernel so just tell me steps..
and don't forget it's rooted
Just flash GB Rom for Israel via Odin. Afterward flash your favorite kernel. You're done. There are many rom threads in development, just use the search to get the right version
*Steps for install are in these threads too.
By the way: only the modem is specific to the country, rest of the Rom can be used in all countries. Maybe you should try to flash a different modem for Israel first.
Good luck.

Hi to everybody!
I am on last DarkyROM v11.0 BlackEdition and I need to return back to all stock, so no recovery, no root, and last stock rom available with italian language and italian CSC.
I have seen on Samfirmware that one of the last ones for Italy with italian CSC is this v2.3.6 from July:

Hi,
A piece of advice is required from the experts please. I am currently on cm9, my baseband is XXLRK.
1) If i restore the backup through CWM of my official 4.04, will I be able to get official update notification through KIES or OTA? or once I've rooted and changed ROM, i will have to continue flashing the required ROMS and can never get OTA update?
2) If i have to continue flashing please advice that with baseband of XXLRK which of the below Stock JB ROM is most suitable for me to download and flash via CWM (official JB for XXLRK isnt available yet i believe)?
N7000JPLSB N7000OJPLSA - Algeria
N7000DDLSC N7000ODDLSC - India
N7000DDLSC N7000ODDLSC - Srilanka
N7000DDLSC N7000ODDLSC - Nepal
N7000DDLSC N7000ODDLSC - Bangladesh
N7000XXLSZ N7000XENLS4 - Netherlands
N7000JPLSB N7000OJPLSA - United Arab Emirates
N7000XXLSZ N7000OXELS7 - Russia
N7000UBLSF N7000UUBLSF - Trinidad and Tobago
N7000XXLSZ N7000ITVLS4 - Italy
N7000XXLSZ N7000OXALSZ - - Germany
N7000ZSLM5 N7000OZSLM5 - Hong Kong
N7000ZSLM5 N7000OZSLM5 - Taiwan
Thanx a lot in advance and sorry if this was already discussed. I searched forums but couldn't find answer.
For updates with KIES or OTA you only need to install a Stock Rom with PC Odin (N7000JPLR seems to be the latest for Pakistan).
Today the official JB release for Bangladesh came out, so Pakistan may be only a few days away.
I would wait for it and then install this stock Rom with PC Odin.
U mean to say i can load any stock Rom regardless my baseband is XXLRK? I m in pak but i think XXLRK is german or uk. Cz i got this set frm UK

you can flash rom from any region.. most of the stock roms come with modem.. so it will change the baseband to the one included in the rom,..
First of all i'm new to this forum...i ordered Samsung Galaxy S Advance in flipkart..and it will be arriving by today...I'm making sure that i do not HARDBRICK it within a few hours after buying.. so please help me..any help would be appreciated....
All i want to know is that
#1 The phone will be arriving with a stock indian gingerbread firmware..Can i flash any country's jellybean firmware onto this stock firmware via Odin 3.07..??
#2 If 'YES' what firmware would be most useful??...( what about the official indian JB FW DDULP8??..because i have already downloaded it )
#3 Does 8GB and 16GB FW differ??
#4 If i flash the indian JB FW .. will i be able to install any JB ROM ( like JetMod,JellyMod ) in that firmware or are ROMs firmware dependent??
#5 The same goes for Kernels...Are they FW dependent or i can just install any JB kernel ( like cocore 6.0 and thunderzap , etc ) on any JB FW..??
This is the Final noob question..
#6 I know that the Binary count reset method by Shaan work on any JB FW...but specifically will it work for the indian official JB FW DDULP8..??

Yes, you can flash INU fw using odin and it doesnt matter ur phone is 8/16gb.
Roms are dependent but they work on different fw's so, dont worry. Just make a nandroid backup from recovery and flash, if by chance u get a bootloop (stuck at logo) you can restore. and kernels are not dependent. Cocore6 works great with Indian fw. And binary wont increase on flashing with cwm/twrp.

Easiest and safest way is flashing through recovery..
There are very less chances of hard brick..Just follow the steps and you should be good.
There are no workarounds for a hard brick.. except jtag repair.. which is usually done in the service centre..

I would say ukf is safer for first time flashing. Easy and safe.

Make sure you know if you have a GT-I9070 or GT-I9070P. You can easily brick your phone putting firmware for on on the other.
try samsung kies update or OTA first.. this way you can experience kies or over the air update..
if its not available, you can do Odin update..
make sure you have atleast 50-80% battery charged..
