Can you boot into recovery mode? Try it.
If not, try to boot into download mode. If it works, flash the stock firmware using Odin.
Then you can install everything again.
That's how you should install a new ROM:
First off all you need CWM installed.
Then
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Format system
install zip from sd card (choose your zip etc.)
Reboot

How?

If you don't have CWM installed on your phone, how did you try to install JB?
I hope that you didn't use ROM Manager, as this would be the VERY end of your phone: Hard-bricked.
To boot into recovery hold down the power and the home button until the Samsung logo appears for the second time. Try this and report whether it is working.
---------- Post added at 05:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:16 PM ----------
Sorry, didn't read your post completely.
Congratulations. Your device isn't hard-bricked.
1) You can download CWM 5 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291327
2) Flash it using apply update from sd card.
3) Then download your ROM. I recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173576
4) Copy it to your SD card.
5) Backup your apps and data using apps like Titanium Backup.
6) Backup your old ROM using CWM
7) Wipe data
8) Wipe cache
9) Advanced > Wipe dalvik cache
10) Mounts ... > Format system
11) Install zip from sd card > choose zip from sd card
12) Reboot
13) Restore all apps and data using apps like Titanium Bakup.
That's it.
Good luck!
Please be so kind and press the thanks button below this post. (Do this every time somebody helped you)

CWM is an abbreviation for "ClockWork Mod". It is an alternative recovery tool.
Are you shure that you installed CWM 5? There should also be a "install zip from sdcard" option which is essential for flashing your phone.
So try flashing it again.
You didn't backup your files before flashing. Bad news.
I guess that you have just copied the files on your SD card. Now you won't be able to restore your apps and data. I'm sorry to tell you, but now you won't be able to restore your apps and data.
Flash CWM 5 again. The one in the linked thread.
Then flash the ROM again in the way I described.
Afterwards everything should be working.

I don't think that you will be able to get your data back.
And your apps: They are stored in the .android_secure folder on the sd card or in the /data/app folder. At mount time the .android_secure folder isn't shown as it is mounted to /mnt/asec. That means that you will be able to access these files there on a rooted phone. However, both folders gets deleted during flashing.
For the future: Use backup apps like Titanium backup. There is also Carbon backup by one of the Cyanogenmod developers (Koush). It is easier to use, but it isn't compatible with Link2SD if you use that.
On the new android versions you can also backup using Google's backup function. However, you will have to install all manually apps again. Your data will be recovered on installation. I recommend Titanium backup. You can get it from Google Play.
Are you unable to access all files from your sd card? If so copy all your files to your computer, reboot into recovery and format the card using CWM 5. Copy the data back to the SD card.

You can use the batch actions. It can either found using the menu that shows up in the options menu if you press the menu key or if you are on a newer ROM (4.xx) there is an icon in the action bar for that. The bad thing: You need the Pro version for that. However, it is really worth the money. It will save you a lot of time if you flash different ROMs often.
If you do not want to buy the pro key, you need to select the app and click restore. Do that for every single app. It is annoying. So support the dev if you have got the money.

The action bar is that space where the app's icon and title are shown. There will be a icon for that, too (only if you are on Android 4.x).
You can download good file explorers from Google Play. I use Antek Explorer, but others are good as well. Use the one you like best.

[TUT]Partition SD using rom manager

Hello
After running into troubles partitioning my SD using rom manager, i fiddled and found the fx for me!
Problem: use rom manager to partition sd and select sizes, phone reboots to complete actions and then clockworkmod recovery shows the yellow error triangle about signatures.
solution: goto goto install update from sd and then choose the option to disable signatures come back out of there and then goto advanced options then reboot recovery, this will then successfully partition the sd.
as i said i did not find this information anywhere, if it is double post i apologise, i am just trying to be helpful.

not all apps can be moved to the sd card, you'll know you have app2sd, by looking at how much free phone memory you have , you will notice only a slight decrease in phone memory due to dling browser cache, facebook cache or market etc.

Easiest way to install the Nook Android App?

I'm running CM7, and I'm Canadian. Whenever I try to install the Nook Android App it says requested item not found. Is there some way I can install this?
I got an SD card with honeycomb on it (I hated it) so I wiped it and install CM7 with apps and I cannot for the life of me get the nook android app back on it like he did (he was American) Does anyone have a trick to get this to work?
Probably the easiest way: (Search how for each of these steps)
Make your SD card bootable with Clockwork Mod Recovery
Download to your PC the .zip file of the ROM you want to install
Place the ROM in the root directory of your SD card
Turn off the Nook and put the card in
Turn on the Nook. It will Boot into Clockwork
Once in Clockwork, Wipe the Cache, Dalvik Cache and Data
Flash the ROM (install the .zip file from the SD card)
When it completes, remove the card and re-boot. (The first boot can take quite a while!)
RECOMMENDED: Also download and install the GoogleApps.zip the same way you installed the ROM
(As I mentioned, you'll have to search for the exact directions for these steps, but that's how I'd do it.

[Q] Help in restoring SE W8 to stock

Anybody out there willing to help this noob right here?(that's me)
like title said i need help to restore W8 to stock rom. i followed this youtube video on how to change W8 eclair 2.1 to gingerxperia vr.23 at first it was ok but then as i used the phone i experienced lots of bugs and errors... camera malfunction, calendar bugs, messages, screen display turning off on calls and alot more.
Now as ive read through out XDA i always see guys saying its easy just use the xrecovery, and use the backup. the problem is during installation of the gingerxperia i didnt create any backup at all (because i was following blindly at the video, he didn't create one i didn't create one either, it was stupid i know)
i download a stock rom named W8.Bld46.17.05.2011.rar it contains 4 files namely ( Cache.img, Data.img, nandroid.md5, sytem.img) but i dont know what to do to those file. please help me
if not for the lack of support for 2.1 eclair to move apps to sd i would have gone through this upgrading and all. i wish 2.1 has some fix to be able to move apps to sd thanks in advance guys. sorry for the bad english
On Your sd card there should be a folder called xrecovery. There should be another 2 folders - Backup and custom. So all You need to do is create a new folder in Backup and put there Cache.img, Data.img, nandroid.md5 and sytem.img.
I don't know if using sb else backup is safe, so in my opinion - You should just use SEUS or SE PC Companion to restore original firmware. These will also unroot Your mobile
And You realy didn't have to change Your firmware to move apps to SD. There are some apps - like Link2SD f.e.
There will be no xrecovery folder on SD Card but instead you will have clockworkmod if you have installed it and inside that ther will be a backup folder put this inside that and then reboot your phone go to clockworkmod recovery and select backup and restore and then click on restore. now your phone will get the stock rom from those four files
Regards

well,i think you does not need to restore the stock rom, just download another full working rom,i suggest Gingerdx:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486 ,since it complete working rom that work on stock kernel,or if you had unlock ur bootloader you can install other rom...
all you need to do is
1.copy the downloaded rom *.zip file to your sd card, using card reader or any other way that work
2.reinsert your sd card to phone
3.power up the phone, while press and hold the back button (CWM recovery/xrecovery should appear)
4.choose wipe data/factory reset option, when prompted choose yes
5.then,select install zip from sdcard option>choose zip from sd card
6.find and select the *.zip that you placed in your sd card (you can placed it anywhere)
7.when prompted, choose yes...after that new rom will be install (takes some times)
8.after it complete, back to main menu and choose reboot system now
9.your phone will reboot and new custom rom succesfully install in your device
#you should choose the right rom first before installing it,and do read the REQUIREMENT of the rom, some need you to unlock bootloader,by the way, good luck
if i helped press thanks button

[Q] PrimeHD rom upgrade

hello, i am new to xda.. so please forgive me if i stated a wrong question or in the wrong section or even repeat the question as i couldnt get a fully satisfying solution searching the forum. i cant post directly in the developer section as i dont yet have access to it...so i posted in the QnA section.
so i have xperia x8 with stock kernel and i have flashed a custom rom PrimeHD v6.0 after reading thoroughly all the requirements and procedures.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480404
and then i had installed a tweak for cm7 roms: jimdemdroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379754
now the thing is i want to upgrade the present custom rom ie v6.0 to v7.0
but i am kind of unsure how to do it correctly.. i mean i know how to do it through the recovery.. but my questions are:
1. do i have to again factory reset/full wipe the phone again??..
2. do i have to clear all caches.. like the dalvik cache etc.. [i read it somewhere you have to delete all the caches]
3. will the applications INSTALLED on my external storage be affected if at all i require a full wipe?
4. since i have flashed jimdemdroid tweak, do i have to do full wipe in this case?.. ie if otherwise the wipe isnt required or so..
5. a detailed step by step instruction would be very appreciated!!
some off the topic questions..[just didnt want to open a new thread for these]
1. do i actually need the jimdemdroid tweak [even the lite version] on primehd mod.. as i dont see much difference except the bravia engine.. no to mention the dsp manager doesnt work now due to xloud drivers..
2. i had selected the install location in the cyanogenmod application settings to external. ie the apps shud now go to the sdcard.. but my internal storage now also gets filled.. and also in the normal application settings->manage applications-> i still find a 'move to sd card' button active.. if i already have installed the apps in the external storage [which also gets filled obviously] then that option shudnt be there.. or faded w/e..
i was on 6.0 (stock kernel) and i upgraded to 7.0 today
everything is working perfectly for me, even the wifi wich doesn't work on custom kernels work perfect.
if you ask me, i would remove jimdemdroid, because there is no big difference with or without it
i didn't wiped anything, and i used titanium backup for backuping everything (messages, contacts, bookmarks, calendars, apps) just in case
install and reboot only..
no need full wipe
The new update it will wipe your current system, with any changes made by you..e.x this tweak, but not your data
So
if you want it you must install it again(the tweak package..)
we clear the dalvik when we have incompatibles with apps
And also if we have force close with a app we delete in data/data /the file of this and reinstall it

2. do i have to clear all caches.. like the dalvik cache etc..

Answer to your questions :
1. A full wipe is always recommended to avoid any type of possible bugs/errors.
2. Once you do a full wipe , clearing dalvik cache etc is NOT required
3. android.secure (applications on SD card) is formatted
4. Full wipe after flashing the tweak is not required. However if you face some problems/errors , do a full wipe
5. Just gave you the answers
Off topic answers :
1. PrimeHD is already stable enough. As such the tweak is not required.
2. When an application is moved to SD card , only some part is shifted to the SD card. The whole application is NOT transferred to the SD card. Did you try to click on the "Move to SD card" option. Probably your app wasn't even installed to the SD card in the first place.
thank you all for your replies..
ok so i get it like this
1. download primehdv7.0 files and move it to sdcard
2. reboot into cwm recovery
3. do a full wipe [optional- just to eliminate bugs by mere chance- though it will remove my messages contacts on internal storage and apps on external storage]
4. install zip from sdcard
5. reboot and done!
please confirm the above thing.. thank you.. and yes one more thing... if i dont do a full wipe.. do i require to remove caches and stats .. if yes.. then please mention all of them..
and @mayank77 for the offtopic answer.. i get it about the partial move of apps to sd... but i also read about the permanent solution to move complete app to sd.. ie via sdk manager following steps to setInstallLocation to 2 (external) via cmd using adb
but recently i tried this method on my friends mobile which is android 2.2 galaxy fit and it doesnt seems to work.. i rechecked the install location by pm getinstalllocation and it says there external.. but then too the internal storage was getting filled... now i suspected this method also as a partial moving to sd.. but no.. the whole app was installed in the phone memory.. any suggestions to that??
as I exp if you use other rom i always wipe my system ,,,and I use flash player after wards,, note if you dont know how to use flash tool pls do soo before performing wiping system on your cwm
@rezzen25 : flash player or flash tool??..
and i need a confirmation if the flashtool has to be used for sure.. as from the previous replies.. i dont think that we are to use flashtool..
personal satisfaction for doing safe measures is a different thing though.. and this isnt a new rom i am adding.. its an upgrade to the same rom..

First of all welcome to xda yeah for the clean installation of romm what u need to do is
1 WIPEdata/factory reset
2 wipe cache partion
3 in advance option wipe dalvik cache and wipe battery stats
this are the steps for clean installation
but i do not insists on upgrading the rom always do a clean installation
and for moving app2sd there is brilliant app called link2sd on the google play store it moves the complete app and dalvik cache too but for that u need to partion your sd card to ext3 or ext4 based on the app i am using ext4 partion
and partion can be done via two methods in built recovery or by the help of pc app windows miniwizard partion tool search for partion tutuorial on xda
good luck and if ur trying to unlock ur bootloader if aware of reading the stickies in the general section

flashtool is used in the case of soft bricking or flashing the kernels not for flashing roms
instead do a clean install rather then upgrade my openion though
@ankitxperia : thanks a lot ... i exactly needed this reply.. i think i will do a clean install whatsoever
about link2sd.. yeah i will look for partitioning guide and give that a try... i read it somewhere that link2sd does all the job... but i was quite reluctant to try partitioning as i got to read and stuff.. but now... i will definitely read and do the partition..
and yes.. please tell if you have tried the sdk manager thing to install your apps to sd card directly.. as i said it didnt seem to work.. if you have tried it ie setinstalllocation to external.. please confirm that it works .. thank you..

PrimeHD v 8.0 has released. It's OK. I using now...

[Q] Transerring files through CRM

I currently have no rom installed due to me wiping the cache and data. I'm trying to put the cyanogenmod 11 zip on the sd card by mounting usb storage, however it doesn't allow to copy it over to the sd and just says "discovering items". Upon mounting the usb storage it recommends me to fix the device as there are some problems with files, I tried the scan and fix options but it did not help.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On some kernels you can use connection to PC when you are in recovery, on some not. I do not know on what kernel and recovery you are now. But it seems it is not working. So solution is to do nandroid restore if you made a nandroid backup in recovery. I suppose you did not, so now your option is to flash stock JB from Download Mode with Odin, and copy ROM while you are in system. Or use some other phone and put SD card in it and copy like that.

Some of it has, some do not. I am not sure what version has it and what do not. I remember some version, maybe CoCore opens internal and external storage on PC automatically. But I can't remember was it CoCore or some else.

Actually it's something interesting, a senior. Like when Windows95 new entry in our country. At that time the system "DOS For Windows" is still very familiar in computer lessons in our education. (Developing Countries). So we can still do "Copy" and "Paste" via diskette in the system "DOS". I think CWM is almost similar to the DOS system. I mean, CWM will be very useful if a time on the android main system can not be done. Of course may be done through CWM. cmiiw.
