I've recently removed the soft buttons in favour of LMT and now can see some blue burn in along the bottom edge where the buttons used to be, visible on a white or grey screen.
Anyone else got this?
Same issue on my phone... Using lmt and hiding softkeys. If i look at a white screen i find a light pink stain on the lower left corner... Hmm... On k9 the up and down button are grey. If i compare both i can clearly notice a difference in shade... But, It aint a crt... So nothing burned in... Its just a production tolerance, i think. Like a pixel error on lcd. Hadnt you root the phone and hide the keys maybe the failure would never have occurred to you. I think i will observe it and give another feedback later.

OK, my tilt is under a month old and have two concerns regarding the screen. When using the slider, at the very top of the fully opened "motion" the screen ripples in the center as if it is being compressed with a finger. It is about half and inch in diameter and repeats if I slide the screen at the top of its fully opened position. Is this normal? It is visible under my solid blue background.
Secondly, under certain lights there is a rainbow effect when the screen is off. This is only noticeable if I have it under the light at specific angles. If I push my finger on the screen it moves as if the two layers of the touch screen are in constant contact with each other and in turn when I push on it, I can manipulate this location. This is visible under the center most part of the screen. I am using the original screen protector provided by ATT.
Just wondering if this is normal, if not, I'm tempted to return it and get a new one under the 30-day policy.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone please?
Ive never noticed anything like that. It sounds to me that there is some space between a few layers of plastic and that is causing diffraction of light which you see as the rainbow affect. If you have the option of replacing it with a new one I would. I mean if I buy something I want it to be in mint condition when I pay for it, not damaged.
I just got a tilt about a week ago and ive noticed that in the middle of the screen there seems to be a purple greenish tint when put against incandescent light. The size of said glint varies in size but i'm unable to see what changes the size. Not sure if its heat or pressure or something. The touch screen works perfectly its just really annoying to always see such an annoying glint.
An interesting discovery is that when i press all four corners of the screen it disappears and when i press in the middle of the little square it seems to spread out. I feel like theres some kind of material or something in the touch screen that is causing this due to pressure. I keep it in a hard case in my pocket so the screen isnt pressed on inadvertently.
I've searched the forum for any answers but i havent seen anything about it. Any response or help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to get a picture of it up asap but i left my camera at a friends house and dont know when im getting it back...thanks in advanced

Do you see the same "annoying glint" under neon light (not day / sunlight)?
Lots of NOKIA and SONY ERICSSON phones for example get this screen recolorization under direct sunlight - this has nothing to do with the screen being defective but with the plastic above the screen which breaks the light and shows you this colored spots. If you can't see the same spot under direct neon light then this might be the cause.
It is normal that you get color changes while pressing the screen in. First of, you press / bent the protecting plastic and the liquid within the screen which causes the incoming light to break in a different angle, therefore the color changes. (BTW: you shouldn't do that too often, it can cause permanent stains on your screen!).
There sure is the possibility that your screen gets pressure from underneath due bad assembling! If you're still under warranty, try to get a replacement.
yeah you cant see it in day light. but i feel as though there is constant pressure on the screen between the plastic and liquid since the spot is always there and doesnt really go away (unless of course in daylight).
well im thinking im going to go back for a replacement. thanks for the quick answer!
Hi I have a small problem with my galaxy and I wonder if it is a common thing or is it a sporadic case. I recently took my galaxy in assistance for the replacement of the screen (between lcd and capacitive glass had a hair) Once again after a while 'I realized (I think that there is a problem from the beginning) that appeared on the display strange signs. Initially I thought it was a lcd problem then I tried to shift the LCD image and saw that signs remained fixed as if they were between display and glass. I brought the phone back in service but they said there were no defects. For sureness (they were very nice) they showed me another galaxy just out of the box and presented the same peculiarities. It seems to me (but I'm not sure) that the first galaxy that I had not had this feature.
If you want to help me try to manually set the display brightness to low and pull down the curtain of the notification bar, or choose a dark gray background and gimme an answer.
thank you
i attach a photo
anyone?
I saw that many people have downloaded the image.
thank you
Can you explain what is so peculiar about it ? I dont see anything wrong with that image . Is it the three orange color curved lines ?? (though that looks to me like a reflection of something).
Are you talking about the red haloing effect around the white text?
Apart from the orange claw 'reflection' in the top right there is nothing discernible about that image.
orange signs are camera lens reflection. I talk about grey zones of images. If you watch closely you notice that some grey pixel zones are different from other. With a kind of green blur.
thank you for your answers
Is this what you are concerning about?

Hey all,
A few days ago, I bought a secondhand nexus 6. I've noticed some burn in (navbar) and I tried this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.amoledburninfix. The last 2 days I've let it run around 2 hours in total. It looks like it does help wear the pixels evenly. But I've also noticed, this evening, that if I do the test mode (gray screen) right after the "fix mode", the navbar ghost is almost gone. But if I run the test mode after normal usage (so when I don't use the "fix mode" for a while" I see more navbar ghosting. So what can explain the difference? Is the navbar ghosting that I see on a grey background image retention? Does it mean that the screen isn't that much affected with burn in because I don't see the navbar after using the "fix mode" (invert colors)?
Also, when I use the grey screen mode, it looks like I see the "ghost" of the clock in the right upper corner. The thing is, I can see the hour and minutes that where shown on the screen last minutes before testing with the grey screen. Does that confirm that this is image retention?
I'd like to hear your thoughts

I don't quite understand this issue as well. I bought my Nexus 6 brand new. I have not had it for quite a full month yet. I am already seeing "burn in" / "image retention" / "ghosting" from the Nav bar mainly but the status bar as well. I can only notice it in the "Amoled Burn-in Fixer" app when on the test burn in grey screen. I can not notice it anywhere else. Every once in a while I will turn off adaptive brightness, max out brightness, and run the "fix" for about 15 minutes. It literally disappears / fixes it. However, a few days later, it comes back. This is why I just run it once a week or so. I feel it will help even pixel wear, and it appears to be working overall.
This seems to be a VERY common problem on the Nexus 6. Remember, Samsung is the only manufacturer of AMOLED displays. I am assuming that their quality control department has different grading for their panels. Highest they keep for themselves, second they sell, third they throw out? Also, I have heard that burn in is much less common on the Samsung S series and Notes which also feature AMOLED displays. This is due to Samsung featuring a home button and capacitive buttons on each side of the home button. (no nav bar) Also their status bar is usually transparent. It seems to me that Samsung is well aware that AMOLED panels are subject to burn in / image retention and they kind of stay a step ahead of it by having buttons rather than a nav bar and the transparent status bar. Also if I remember right, their status bar symbols and numbers are a light blue rather than white, which is the color that is the hardest on AMOLED displays.

Try using the app to "fix" the burn in and check it directly after in the test mode. Then just use your phone for a few min and test it again. Do you also see the difference after a few minutes already? This must be image retention, right? So does that mean that the screen it's "normal state" is right after the "fix mode"? And the ghosting you see after a few minutes is just image retention?
While I was watching a video, I noticed a permanent yellow tint on top of my screen (where signal/time/wifi are located, in those spots). The yellow tint is permanent and it's more noticeable when the brightness is on max, especially on white screens), it doesn't go away nor it changes (for example on yellow tint, i can see some past 'time' and notifications). I am not sure how to explain it better. The phone never fell down, nor It has any damages. I have it for a year and I never had any issues.
Anyone with the same problem? I mean it's something terrible but it sometimes it's annoying.
I also wanna say, if I take a screenshot of my screen, and then check that screen on my PC for example, I don't see the yellow tint.
That's exactly how it looks: https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/...17/05/aa-imgur-galaxy-s8-burn-in-1200x675.jpg
Screen burn in, I imagine? Plus I can see my Google keyboard clearly on a fully blue screen. I wonder if the problem is just the screen or the frame underneath the screen as well. I guess it's not fixable unless you replace it...
