Hello together,
just got myself some nfc stickers and trying to play around a little bit with nokia nfc writer .. but i am wondering about some things.
First: reading the tag
Is it possible to deactivate the question if i really want to do something? can it not just open whatever i hover it over?
second:
Can i write more than one command on a sticker? Like - disable Wifi and start app
third:
Can i code something so the sticker is more like a toggle? so .. place it near sticker - wifi of - take it the sticker - wifi on again
Forth:
tried a simple command with opening page in browser - working al right on my phone but hovering a galaxy nexus over it - it does exactly nothing. is there a way to make those stickers "standardized? How would a vcard to contacts sticker work if i'd need one for every system - would look funny with 5 stickers in one place

I have a Samsung GS2 (with 2.3.3) and I just got a P970 which I upgraded to (2.3.4) for use with a foreign SIM.
I didn't do much research and thought 'they're both Android GB, they'll be the same' - ho ho. Had a bit of a fight with the p970 but eventually got all my apps etc installed so it's very similar to my GS2 which is what I want... Not that the GS2 way of doing things is particularly better I just want them both to be usable in exactly the same way to avoid frustration.
I've noticed some things that I really want to fix:
1. The GS2 leaves wifi on all the time, whether it is asleep or not. I want this because I use push email with K9. The p970 turns the wifi off when the phone is asleep - so K9 uses mobile data for email, which is a pain. I used titaniumbackup to move the K9 install and settings from the GS2 to the p970 - I also later removed it and installed it through the market. No difference. Can I force wifi on while the phone is asleep?
2. The scroll feel of the p970 was very light with no friction - pages scrolled on forever gradually coming to a stop. I managed to fix that (removed the lgscroller in the build.prop) but the p970 has a 'glow' effect when you try to scroll beyond the end of a list (the list doesn't move any more, the bottom of the list glows blue) whereas the GS2 has this 'elastic' effect (you can scroll the list right off the screen but it moves at half speed and springs back into place when you let go.) Can I replace this somehow?
3. In Dolphin HD, the GS2 scroll snaps to axes - if I scroll vaguely vertically, it knows I mean 'scroll vertically'. The P970 interprets anything other than a very deliberate vertical scroll as meaning 'scroll diagonally'. It's a pain. What on earth causes this?
4. The included mms.apk is crap. Can't insert contacts as plaintext? I want the GS2 mms.apk - I tried to adb install it but it failed on dependencies. Is it possible? I am using Handcent on the p970 now after trying Go SMS, tbh not really liking ether.
Apart from all that it's fine albeit a bit slow. Biggest gripe is the positioning of the unlock button.
Any advice?
I really don't know the others, but for #1 you go to settings>wireless>wi-fi settings>advance[press menu button the square one]>wi-fi sleep policy there you can choose to never sleep
Thanks for that, didn't even know there was a submenu to the wifi menu. Wifi now remains on regardless!
#2 you would have to install a Cyanogen ROM, there you can choose what to happen when you scroll past the end of the list (Glow, Bounce or Glow+Bounce). The official Rom (and those built on it) don't support changing the way the "scroll past end of list" animation, it's only present in ROMs built on Cyanogen (for example the MIUI one).
Now, i don't know how stable the Cyanogen ROMs are, you'll have to read about it in the forum and decide if it's worth it for you or not.
#3 i saw that the Optimus Black interprets pressing/dragging on the screen a little different from other phones, probably comes from the way LG implemented the digitizer interface, i don't think you can change that (i very often drag icons on the launcher instead of starting the apps even though i do the exact same movement as i do on my Samsung Spica and there i never had this problem).
#4 the applications bundled with the SG2 have dependencies on libraries on the phone, you would have to also copy the files from /system/lib the problem is that you can't just copy all the files since many will be present on both phones but with different version and dependencies.
You would probably have to experiment by adding different libs and seeing if it works or not.
I tried only once to port and app and after several hours i got to a point where the lib required by the app was already present on the phone but a different version, i tried adding the other version which crashed many of the already existing apps so i gave up
Thanks for that - I understand the Cyanogen ROM isn't stable yet (?) so I'll wait a bit before trying that... need the thing usable as a phone, can't keep bricking it!
For the last point, is there a way to identify from the APK which libraries it's looking for? Something like the 'ld' command in Linux?
bluetooth locked
hello everybody!
I can't use bluetooth.
I open settings, open wireless and network settings, tap bluetooth, enter access bluetooth settings, tap make discoverable, (untap make discoverable then), but:
1.) I can't scan for devices: tap and press but nothing happened,
2.) I can't modify my device name, I have one, but can't rename,
3.) I have a long list of bluetooth devices discovered but not paired, but I never allowed, and
4.) I can't remove these devices from my Bluetooth pairing list:
when I press and hold on the name of the device I want to remove, applications close and get out from settings.
5.) I can't discover and pair my bluetooth headset.
Get out the baterry, get out SIM, get out micro sd: not working!
I have 2 same smartphones. the another optimus black in working very well, including the same headset.
can you advise me, please?
thanks.

Is it on another ROM maybe? If so, which one do you use? Or did you maybe restore a backup of another phone?
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA
I have a bunch of NFC tag laying around the house, and it's time to put some use into them. school started and i want to be able to just scan my phone at the NFC tag and it will set up a reminder/notification to tell me if i have any homework for a particular period. the problem is i can't find a way to do it, and i really need help with that. thanks in advance.
Use nfc task launcher
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
I have that app, and color note and tasker, but I don't know how to set it up or the actions that need to take place. Is it possible to make it so that everytime I touch that nfc tag, a memo is created or edit, and possibly displayed in the notification bar
Is there any way to use the three Skip dots with other NFC apps? Everytime I'm in NFC Task Launcher and touch one of the dots to the phone, the Motorola Skip setup pops up. When I cancel out of that, NFC Task Launcher doesn't recognize the dot. I've tried turning off the service, but it just respawns. I've got some more NFC tags on order that should show up next week. Is it going to do this with all NFC tags, or is there something about the Motorola ones that kick that setup off?

the same question..
even i put a normal nfc tag into a moto skip, it cant be recognize too.
The skip tags have a specific header that the Moto X recognizes as a skip tag. If you open the skip app and try a non skip tag, it will find it and turn it into a skip if you choose. The problem is, the skip app will write protect the tag and it will only be a skip tag. The official tags are the same...they will always be a skip and nothing else.
Now I have an app that someone made to write the header to a normal tag, but without the write protect. So, the tag can be rewritten, but only with another NFC device...the Moto X will only see it as a Skip tag.
I can upload the app, once I find the thread and original creator. I don't want to post something without giving them props.
Hi,
I have been exploring my Xperia SP phone and have a few queries about some of it's functionality....
1. I am finding it a bit irritating to press on the power button again and again to wake up the screen and then to unlock... is there any alternative to skip the power button and turn on the screen just by swiping or a gesture?
2. Is there a way to automatically turn off the phone and then restart at specific times for example at night.. to save battery? ( in non rooted phone)
3. Has anyone tried using Handwriting recognition function for taking handwritten notes ... does it work well with stylus( which company, model)? and which app is best for taking such notes? Can we speak and convert the voice into text saving them as notes automatically? and is this efficient way to do or just a function given in the phone?
4. Can XSP be used a TV remote control or wireless radio remote control for example automating home lighting etc?
5. what's ecompass? is it some app or just a reference to magnetometer in phone? -
6. Can we connect a usb keyboard for extended typing? or a wireless/bluetooth one? - any specific models that are good? what's the configuration we need to do to setup?
Any inputs and experiences would be appreciated.
Regards
Gs
1: Possible via kernel things (I think) this requires root and unlocked bootloader for custom kernel
2: No... Not that I know of
3: I havent test it but for me this function is useless on such small screen and yes there is an app for this (cant recall it)
4: No the Xperia SP has no infra red sensor
5: An eCompass is a tilt compensated electronic compass utilizing an accelerometer and a magnetometer (WikiPedia)
6: I havent tried this but this should be possible.. Any brand should do

1. I was interested since pressing power button that is on hardware too many numerous times can possibly break it.. just a guess and also it's more convenient to just swipe. I did find Auto screen ON and other apps on google store utilizing proximity senson but then they run in the background and possible drain battery by keeping the sensor ON.
2. I had phones in the past that did the same thing.. just set the off and on time and it will work.. I guess there would be app for that.. would try to find it out.
3. it is in fact very useful if it works correctly and precisely....for taking notes, to-do's , reminders..etc. would love to know more details about this.
4. how about using wifi as a radio transmitter? it has both 2.4/5ghz chips.
5. okay..but what's the use of such tilt compensated compass? wikipedia just gives the definition.
6. any recommendations for usb setup? I guess we need a seperate cable usb to mini usb? will any usb keyboard would work?
few answers I could find...
okay few answers I could find...
1. try tap tap on google store it worked for me.. there are others too in case that doesn't work...
autoscreen on and many others on play store.
2. It seems after some research that android doesn't currently supports complete auto shutdown without rooting.. so the next best option is to enable airplane mode...
powerschedule on google play
there are others apps too in play store that serve the same purpose.
3. papyrus, freenote app and others but haven't use this functionality with stylus to confirm.
5. google maps seem to use ecompass for right orientation.
6. many others have successfully connected usb keyboards it seems ..search on google gives
Hello,
Galaxy series is wunderfull piece of hardware because of S-Pen. To use its full potential you need propper software for it.
Original S Note is great software, but has some reasonless limitations:
- password (max 10 chars, no chars like [email protected]#...)
- sounds (can't be turned off)
- pens (cannot rearange possition of user defined pen styles)
- can't easly insert space in memo...
(connected app --> "Action Memo", has too few editing options, formating options...)
I don't belive that it will be fixed in future versions. So the one and only solution seems to be create new S Note clone.
There was nice attempt "Write beta", you can find it on google play, but it is probably no more supported and developed.
So the foolish question is:
Is someone willing to start develop S Note clone?

Maybe I'm missing something important, but I just use Google keep. I use "S Pen Toolkit" to auto-launch Keep when I remove the S-Pen, and it seems to work well enough for what I use it for.

The point is that you cannot compare Google Keep or EverNote with S-Note. S-Note is very complex with many functions. But as I wrote, S-Note has pointless restrictions. Also it is written here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551326
(Of course I know, recreate S-Note-clone is complicated, but it could be a challenge for someone )
