Hi,
I did the root on my HD+ 2.06, which worked great. Afterwards, I installed the Gapps and Extras zip, which worked, as I got Play Store. This is the thread I followed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062613
The problem I have is that other Gapps didn't install. I don't have Maps and Youtube doesn't work. Youtube asks for Google Play Services. I can't install them as the Play Store keeps saying it's incompatible.
I'm probably doing something really stupid, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have the same problem with my HD. I updated to the 0404 build from the 0331 build and I have lost access to my root screen from the home button and can't find the root apps anywhere. Even tried updating the gapps but to no avail.
Update: On advice from a friend, I went back to 0331 and everything appeared fine. He tells me the problem is between Trebuchet and the 0404 build.
OK, I installed Chrome.apk and GoogleMaps.apk manually, but the problem I am still having is I can't see the SD Card when it's in. I can't set SD Card as destination. Any word on how to do that?

You need to install the location services zip. That sets up gps permissions so that Maps becomes compatible. You may need to clear the data on the Play Store app first. Once you install Maps, then YouTube should work.

What do you mean sdcard as destination? You mean you cannot see the external SD? If you read my HD/HD+ tips thread linked in my signature, and look at item item 9, Data Structures and item 12, Swapping you will understand. You can flash the swap in my CWM thread.

Thanks for the reply. I have locations services enabled and the manually loaded maps works with location services. How do I clear the data on the Play Store app?

I read that, I have the SD Swap.zip on my bootable SD, but it was confusing, as It seems that it will swap storage with internal SD and External SD. I thought there was a way to use the external SD as extra space. Like when I try to load movies from Vplayer, it doesn't see my external SD. Also, Root Browser, can't seem to navigate to the external SD.

There is a way to use the external SD as storage. And I agree the swap is confusing because we cannot change the names. The problem is that some apps cannot browse to ext_sdcard. It is under /mnt and hard to find.

Anyone can give me a hint on how to clear the cache for Google Play Store? It doesn't show up in Settings -> Applications. Is there a directory I need to empty? Thanks.

I found the easiest way is to install adw launcher from the play store and put the Play Store as a shortcut on the adw home screen. Then long press that shortcut and it gives you the option to manage the app. Then you can clear the cache. You want to clear data too if you want to improve app compatibility.
Actually I like adw launcher better than zeam anyway. It has more customization.

That worked. After clearing the cache and data I was able to install Google Play Services and now I'm able to log into Youtube!

In an effort to move all my bulkiest apps to the SD card, I tried moving the maps and facebook apps. However, as I had flashed gapps on CM 6.1.0 RC, facebook/maps could not be moved - "System updates cannot be moved...".
So, I deleted the apps from /system/app, rebooted... but the apps were still available. Then, I thought they might be in /data/apps... and there they were. So, I deleted the packages from there, as well. A wipe cache/dalvik cache and reboot removed the apps from the phone, installed them from the market and voila - I could move them to the SD card.
I rebooted the phone and was trying to use the navigation, when it asked me to install the text to speech thing, installed it and maps/navigation worked fine. Facebook worked fine, too.
After a while, I was doing something and thought I should reboot the phone. When the phone came back up, maps & facebook apps were missing from the phone. I could see some default icons for those apps on my home screen, but when I tried accessing those apps it just said - App not available or something...
It's not a big deal, I reinstalled the apps and everything's up and running. I tried rebooting the phone a few times and apps are still there.
Has this happened to anyone?

What makes an app a system app? Neither maps nor facebook, if uninstalled, would break the system... Here's what I think, all apps contained within the gapps package are considered to be system apps, by the system. That's why when you try moving them to SD card via Manage applications, it does not allow the action. However, once after flashing gapps, I removed the apps that I wanted to move to the SD card - Facebook, Terminal, Maps, Google Voice and such. I installed all of those from the market and proceeded to move them to SD card. All apps, except Maps & Facebook, worked and are working fine. Now that I think about it, I can just not flash the gapps and install everything from the market - now that gmail and youtube are available on the market.
What do you think?

No - I just deleted those apps from /system/app and /data/app directories, rebooted and proceeded to install from the market. Once installed, moved them to SD Card from Manage applications.
BTW, I have got a 8GB Class 6 card... which enhances the performance of the SD card apps.

Hi
I've got a partition on my SD card to put applications (ext4 format).
But absolutly no apps go there.
I didn't find any option to specify where apps must be installed (in play store or ROM menus).
Do someone had already done that?
Thanks

I use Foldermount, it doesn't install them om SD but once installed you can move the LARGE data to SD which comes with alot of the HD games, You have to be rooted though to use it. It's available on the Play Store.
Me too want to know how

Yes, you can. That is the whole point of Foldermount. It links the files you moved to their original location, so the game works as normal.

Basically you have to install folder mount open it (of course), grant super user access, click list of pairs on top, click apps analyser (which is spelt - analyzer), here it will show you a list of apps with the biggest size first so click the one you want to link to the sd card, here it will show you maybe the data and obb and you have to click create pair on the right hand side, it will take a minute or so for it to do, it will show you in the notification bar anyway, once done go back once and click apps analyzer again at the top and then click list of pairs here you will see the list of linked apps with a drawing pin on the right hand side when they are in the sd card the pin is grey and if you click the pin it will turn green and it will link it back into the internal memory so you can play/open the app and use when finished using just go back into folder mount and unpin it or if you are going to go back into that particular later on you can just keep it linked, the idea is that when the apps are not in use all of the data stays on the sd card to preserve internal memory, its only really big apps you need to do this with like gta etc... also when the pin is green the app remains in both the sd card and internal storage, so basically the apps are sort of dormant until you want to use them but it saves memory on the internal storage anyway, so basically install folder mount link the game/app to sd and when you want to use it link it so the internal storage, if you get folder mount for free you can only have three pairs but if you purchase it like I did you can link as many apps as you like as long as you have enough memory on your card lol and to support the developer
hope this helps
My Nook HD was running 10.1.3 stable just fine until a week ago when it started freezing and rebooting. (Coincidentally or not, the problem started after it spent several hours in a very hot car in 100+ outside temps). I restored the stock ROM and then did a clean install of 10.2.1 stable. It very quickly started doing the same thing. Based on the suggestion of someone who had a similar problem, I just installed the M6 snapshot and within 10 minutes I got my first freeze/reboot. I did forget to do the factory reset/wipe data step on this last install but I have removed all the apps that were installed in the month or so prior to the start of the freeze/reboot issue. I suppose I can do a clean install but given the same problem with 3 different CM versions, I find it hard to believe it's a software issue.
Is the Nook HD one of the devices affected by the EMMC bug? Is it possible to run any of the stable CM versions off the SD card? Any other suggestions?
I still think it is one of your apps that Google automatically updates. It is not necessarily one you installed recently, just one that updated recently. Try installing a CM with a clean install and do not flash gapps. Try running that for a while. If it still acts up without gapps and it downloading apps, it is a hardware issue.
And there are SD installs by bokbokan for the HD that seems stable, but are not labeled as such.
And I have not heard of an HD with the emmc chip bug.

I'll try that. I've got nothing to lose at this point!
But suppose that fixes the issue, how do I identify which Google app was the culprit? Can I install them one at a time from the Play Store or do I have to flash the gapps package and then I'm back where I started? Other than Gmail, I could probably live without any of the others.

When you set up gapps tell it not to automatically keep your apps up to date. It is one of the check boxes on the set up screen. Then install the third party apps one at a time (starting with Gmail) and see what happens. And I did not say it was a Google app causing the issue, just some third party app that Play Store automatically installs because you told it to. Play Store is part of gapps so if you do not install gapps, Play Store cannot install anything since it is not there.

Ok, I did a factory reset and installed CWM and the M6 Snapshot. I did not flash gapps but I see Gmail, Google, Google Settings, Play Store and Hangouts. Where did those come from? I have not set up my Google account. It will not recognize my SD card and when I go to settings and select "mount SD card" it freezes for a minute or two. I've tried this 3 times and twice it came back and said "settings has stopped". Maybe this is a CM11 bug.
So now what? Install apps one at a time (after I setup my Google account) and see what happens? I can't really do much without apps. At the very least, I need the Kindle app and Overdrive (which lets me download books from my library.) I also use the XDA app a lot.

go back to CM10.1.3. It is a known quantity. There will be no gapps there. You just want to prove you don't have a hardware problem. Once that is proved, try to isolate the app issue.

OK, I'm back to 10.1.3 with no gapps. Not much I can do except browse the web. I might have found something. As soon as I inserted my SD card that has photos on it, it started acting funny. It was sluggish and the screen was slow to rotate (it actually rotated about 45 deg and hung there for several seconds.) It did not automatically mount the SD card and when I selected "Mount SD card" after a few seconds it came back and said "Setting has stopped. Do you want to close it?" I removed the SD card and it seems OK again. I put the SD card in my card reader and it has apparently become corrupted. I inserted a new SD card with just a few pictures on it and it mounts itself and everything seems fine.
It appears that a bad SD card was causing my problems. Does that seem plausible? Should I flash the gapps or can I setup my Google account and download them from the Play Store?

Yes that could be your problem.
If you want gapps you must flash the correct zip. There is no other way to get them. And be sure when setting up to uncheck having Google keep you up to date. That way you can reinstall your apps one at a time.

It's been 2 days since I reflashed 10.2.1 stable and everything is working fine. So I guess I did have a hardware problem (bad SD card), just not the hardware I thought it was.
After I tried to move some apps to the SD card their icons disappeared from my phone screen and the SD card also disappeared from my phone. Then when I tried to reinstall the apps from the app store it keeps giving me the message "You cannot install this app because another user has already installed an incompatible version on this device".
I'm at a loss because I tried to find the apps in the settings but their not there anymore so I can't find the incompatible versions anymore.
Also the SD card wasn't readable by my phone anymore and when I tried to read the SD card from a pc the only option I have is to reformat it.
So I can't Uninstall those apps anymore and I don't know how to access other users in note 8 tMobile version to find the incompatible version. When I moved to the SD card did the phone interpret that as another user and the apps became corrupted maybe? Is there any solution to this problem?
It took me a few hours but I found a work around. What I had to do is search for the APK I needed. I downloaded and installed it from the yalp store (APK mirror) should work as well. Once installed, I moved it to the SD card, just like I did before. Opened it so it created the data folder. Then immediately uninstalled it. I was then able to go back to the Play store and downloaded it just fine. I know xda does not Condon the use of "pirated" apps or work around but I hope this reply does not get flagged as I believe it is a huge issue for us.

:good: That did it! Thanks a ton. Actually installing any apk version of the same app and then uninstalling it regardless of moving it to the SD card solved the problem. I could then reinstall it from the play store without getting the notification of an incompatible version already being installed by another user.
