Milestone Performance With CM 7.2.4c - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hi guys. My uncle gifted me this device with CM Mod 3 month ago. Now this device lags as nokia 5800 .
I have only 72 mb of 256 free RAM space .. I cant play Trial Extreme 3 and so on.... I run Opera and Vk , and my device cant open any other applicantion.
Processor overclocked on 1Mhgz and i use JiT ( setuped in cm settings)

It surely needs a swap partition. Read other topics how to set such a partition on the sd card.

Sory but i dont understand, i need to swap a partition for more Ram ? Or better to setup CM 10 with android 4.2 ?

Swap partition is a partition you create on your sd card. It supports your phone with extra memory and its capacity. You can use mini mod by fufu to setup swap, ext partitions.
If you want to set up Cm 10 on your milestone, you can't make it without ext. The swap partition is required too.

Cm10 will work faster or slower? I can make 1gb swap , i have 32gb flash, cuz i only want very fast phone

Definitely it is cm7. Much faster and smoother. The thing is, Milestone is kind of outdated phone in terms of hardware (some say it has pretty good cpu, but has to be overclocked anyway), thus you cannot expect miracles. I would sick to cm 7.

CM7 is your choise

And every update that the apps are making make the M1 slower

Not use cm10 on this, try cm9, cm10 is really slow

Which X8 tweaks are worth effort?

Hello!
Im currently running GDX v28b with alfs v8a kernel. I didn't make any big tweaks so far, only overlocking and SuperCharger.
Is making ext3/4 and swap partitons on microsd worthy? Can i really make my X8 faster thanks to this? I heard swap can shorter microsd life-span. I have 16gb 6-class microsd card. How much can it shorten it's life-span?
What are other tweaks i can do to make my x8 faster?
Thanks for the answers!
yes, i uninstalled the unused apps too. i'm just wandering how could i do more . thanks for your help and i'm waiting for more opinions
Actually the ROM you are using is pretty much tweak for performance and I guess adding more that your not certain of might cause problem to its performance. Btw do you play on your phone a lot?
No, i don't play a lot, but sometimes when i have to quit one app and load another one the phone is very laggy. That's why i thought about applying some more tweaks to the phone .
Thats normal because of our device low memory. You can try Ram Manager.
btw supercharger is tweaks too,so many tweak include there are 3g turbo charger, kickass kernelizer, flush engine,etc...
but if you need more tweak you can try "jimdem droid"...its easy to installing

i heard that i shouldn't use Ram Manager with supercharger script. Nevertheless i used Ram Manager once, but for me the phone was just... slower. now im trying to make a swap and ext3 partitions, but i can't make it. maybe someone could help me? CLICK

need help here!! thanks!

Hey, have a look in the cm10 dev-thread! It has been discussed for very long now. Due to performance reasons pawitp swapped the layout of the two NAND-chips in our SGS. (System partition: 1,8GB - Data-partition: 488MB)
This was pretty clever, because people with an old SGS (slower oneNAND) have a much better performance of cm10 now, so i think it never gets reverted!
If you want the old partition layout back, look for other cm10 roms out there. There are some with the old /datadata-trick that worked pretty well in cm9.
If you want to stay at cm10 and use pawitp's new partition layout for a faster experience, you should move large apps to SD-Card
Hope this helped, Cheers

Go to Settings/Apps, there you can move apps to SD, if the developer of the app enabled it. Just click on a fat app and look for the "move to SD" button or similar
There is also an app at the playstore that's called App2SD. It lets you move your apps in a more comfortable way. :good:
Cheers

[Q] Android 4.0 and the little ROM ???

Hi
I want to buy a refurbished Nexus One to install Android 4.0 or 4.1 on it. and this will be my first android phone
But I'm worried about it's little ROM !just 512MB
How much memory will be available after installing 4.0 for apps ?
Can I install apps on SD memory card completely or they will use some of ROM memory too ?
Does installing 4.0 courses my apps and games run slower than before ?
Thsnks a lot
if u need to run anything beyond 2.3 then u need to install BLACKROSE (a custom bootloader) and change the hboot partitions.
and yes u need to partition ur sd card and apps should be placed in sd ext, which might be lil slower

If I use SD Memory ,internal ROM will not be used for apps at all? You mean the partition on SD memory will be used instead ?
Can I use SD mem on 2.3 version too ?
Can I use a high speed SD to speed up running apps ?
Can I do All this thing with HTC Desire too ? these two phones are so similar !
Thanks

yes you can. you need to create ext partition first. provided your rom/kernel supports it(which every rom/kernel does)
yes you can do this wid gb roms too.
u need a fast sd (class 6 or above) for apps n games to load faster

Although the N1 has only 512MB, don't underestimate its ability to take on ICS and JB ROMs The latest JB 4.2 ROM can be flashed on N1!!!

Internal memory

Hi,
I'm going to install new ROM for my Galaxy Mini. Did any of the latest ROMs include build in solution for shortage in internal memory?
If yes - which ROMs? If not what's the best way to resolve the lack of memory issue.
thank you,
Moshe
What kind of latest ROM ? Because there's a hundreds ROM.
There are some roms with built in script to mount. You have to found them on your own read description.
OR
Easy way, make partion of your sdcard use link2sd app available on store and link everything to sd.
I helped? Lol Here twitter.com/_aakashasaj go follow.

Low Internal Memory?
This is what I do, And I'm on 4.0+
- Use DroidSail App2SD Lite and transfer almost all the apps to SD.
- Use Greenify on the apps to normalize battery life.
- Use Sd Speed Increase set to 2048 kB settings. [Everything mentioned applied on boot]
- Use kernel [Badass Kernel] with smartassv2 governor and lower the minimum frequency to 122 MHz.
- And oh, delete most of the bloatware using RootAppDelete.
This makes it real real good and is way better than what I had bought it as.
Hope it helps!

Storage Space - Internal Limitation

I have just got my hands on a Galaxy Ace S5830 It will be my spare /temporary phone for a while so I thought I would have a play with it So far it's a great little phone.
It was on the standard rom but I am greedy and I now have ROOT + CWM 5.0.2.6. and then upgraded to Kitkat For All [CWM.5.x] CM 11, Omni & Omega by Salim PS earlier today and it's much nicer than the stock stuff.
The only problem I am having is the totally crap internal storage limitation Is there anything that can be done to increase it? Once I install a few apps I am totally out of internal storage space Which is no fun at all...
I have had a look around but i really don't know what I am looking for Can you help...

You need a rom that uses a Kernel with swap support and you need to partition your sd with CWM (advanced settings). No cm11 kernel has swap support and link2sd don't work either. Some Cm 10.1 and below do. I just suggested to another member who was after a good rom to use this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2599760 Use S2 touchwizz style with cronmod. Partition your sd first. Instructions are probably on here for that but i just followed this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U_Sp_BtzrM
I think all the reading I've recently done regarding up/downgrading the ace's software has fried my brain, So I had a couple of days off and just enjoyed using a new phone.
Anyway I can't believe how simple that was Thank you very much, I put in an 8GB SD and set my SD ext to 1GB and all is well, Running nicely too with that rom.

I certainly understand the brain frying. Yeah that rom is the best i've found and i've tried most in the past 3 weeks. Glad i could help. :highfive:
CM11 allows you to use a external partition too using S2E script

Well i never knew that! I had the PSN cm7.2 + 9 ics + 10.1 jb swapall scripts as zip's but i couldn't find one for cm11. The only thing that put me off the 4.4.4 KK rom was not having swap. Damn i wish my phone was working now I hope the jig works
