Anyone have this installed on their KFHD7?
There's apparently an ICS version here. (got a kick outta the 3rd post )
This is also rumored to be working on the 8.9. (can anybody confirm this?) I might try it seeing how I meet all the requirements and have twrp installed.

As long as you've got the Google Services Framework installed, which if you installed Play Store should be a no-brainer, I think it should install fine. I don't think it would be very useful, but go ahead and install it. Google Now is at its best when it is constantly connected to the Internet, so that it traces info and loads them as cards. Keeping WIFI on is, as we all know, a major battery killer.
Well, works fine to start... I'll keep y'all posted. As far as battery life, I never turn off my WiFi, and my battery lasts for what seems like forever. That may be due to the fact that I am running Kinology. (funny though because I have it plugged in atm.)

Only thing I noticed is voice search doesn't work with it

Ummmm. No, as far as I know. I don't see how or why this would work until the KF2 gets a real OS on it. Once it down, I do not see why it shouldn't. For now though, I don't know of any ways it's possible. Back to browsing on the device for you! [EDIT] I was wrong! The app is on my device. It was sitting in front of me for an hour or so when I turned it on to do stuff and found the app I pushed on it there! So it does work in theory, it may be slow for you, or some other issue, but it should work it seems!

Yes, this IS possible. I will look into it and post. It's a file you have to tweak, I did it before on tablets I just am completely blanking out since it's been a year or two. You will probably need something like RomToolbox. That's what I bought ages ago and use on every device I hack, just a personal preference but you will need a "build.prop editor".
Here use this app it will switch you device to make it look like a different device and allows you to download more apps.

I use market helper as well. Has limitations but until a full customised rom bypasses this issue it's not a bad 'get round'

I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I'm extremely new to all of this! If it's answered somewhere else just point me in that direction
Anyways: I got my kindle fire hd (8.9) two days ago. I tried to use the stock email application to set job my gmail but after entering in my information, it says it does not have permission to sync with the server. My husband and I tinker around with it all day yesterday to no avail.
Also, since I do have Google play on here,I do have the gmail application, but when I try to open it, I just get a pop up that states gmail has stopped working.
I watched a YouTube video where someone was able to set it up (via stock) without issue.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
.........
Note: chrome also does not work, and other launchers (besides go launcher hd for tablets which is what was on there after my husband finished rooting it) will not open/work. I'd love to be able to use Nova....

Just flashed a custom 4.2.2 N7 rom and sure enough, it's there - interesting enough, it's showing up also on my HTC DI2 running GingerBread (custom rom written over a year ago,) no prompt or option to cancel/postpone or decline, just auto-updated (except that it did not have the Location & Search sub-menu like the N7)
Suffice to say - easily integrated without crashing or freezing, enhancement across the board for all Google devices ... I think. :highfive:
The icon looks very unattractive. Now my app drawer has 3 similar icons side by side that are blue (Google Search), green (Google Settings), and red (Google+)
Hhmm, I don't have it. Dirty AOKP. I'll reboot and see
..
OK, after reboot it's there.
Now my Galaxy Note 2 stock 4.1.2 rooted got this...
It came with recent update of Google Play

Yeah, it's for the new Google+ sign-in. You will be able to sign into apps with your Google account once devs integrate it.

I've set it to hidden in Apex Launcher, no need to have multiple settings apps, and I don't really use Google+

Hello guys I had flashed slimbean 4.2.2 and I think its an awesome ROM
But there is a bug and I posted this here because I wanted to inform AHD owners with Slimbean ROM installed
And as you see in the attachments I have proof the data cycle restarted then I decided to listen to Pandora and the out of nowhere most of my apps had used about 1gb each
I quickly rushed to turn the data off
And also it says Pandora had used 17GB!! In just one day
And here's a text message with proof of how much data I actually used
I just dialed *Data# and the it sends you a free text with your data usage
I hope this clears some stuff up

Does anyone know what I can turn off on maps location settings so that Google Now will still tell me where I am and bring up the same cards (i.e. The weather in the address I'm in, how long it will take to get back home, places to check in, etc.)?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I am guessing you can use Greenify and hibernate Maps so that it will only work on command.
Greenify all the way.

Pretty much, yes. Also if you turn off everything under Location, you will not have to worry about that much anymore. There are ways to completely freeze or remove Google Now from your device, just use Google and you'll find many articles regarding this.

I don't want to remove Google Now. That's the whole point. I wanna lessen the Maps wake locks but still get the same Google Now functionality.

Yeah, I misunderstood at the time and I wanted to edit my post but I forgot. As I mentioned, use Greenify and Google Now should work properly.
