Hi - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I am new to flashing/rooting/installing roms. So pardon my noobness.
I have managed to rootand flash my gtP1000 by folowing the overcome guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881981
And wiped/flash recovery mode to install cm 10 in this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871113
Now, i would like to try alroger's 4.2.2 jb, should i just wipe cache and install it via recovery mode or i need to flash some kernels first?

you can do it on CWM

What do you mean by repartitioning? Does it make partitions on my sd?
So basically i only need to go on recovery mode and install this along with its gapps? Pls correct me if im wrong.thanks.

hi
as you know there are several types of partition
in windows there are fat16, fat32, ntfs
in linux there are many diferent types
repartitioning in your tab means this ROM (10.1) needs to run on MTD partition, so its change your tab partition to MTD
in this case you lost all your data such as contacts, app and ...
and the other is when you want to came back to GB ROM you should use ODIN and follow restock rom installation
good luck

Ohh.. now i get what repartition means.. thanks.. ill try to flash 10.1 when i get time. Thanks again

now,the question is,can i root using the mentioned method?ive downloaded the how to root guide from dr.ketan, but when i read about the hardbrick,im getting confuse..so,is it safe to continue using this method?..
thanks in advanced
Yes the rooting process is safe. Its just not safe to do a factory reset or data wipe if you are on a lpy-lpf etc kernel.
ok,so whati need to do,i downgrade my phone to direct rootable rom using pc odin, root it then install cwm..and if i want to install an ics rom,i use the cwm is it and keep my cf root..then i will have an updated rom with root and cwm...am i correct?
anyone?

no no no, thats not the way it works, no need to downgrade, but there are some other things to consider as the yellow triangle that appears after flashing a cf root.tar, i thing the safer and quicker method would be this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647148
as it says, just dont make any backup or restore because it dont work but the root will work fine
what if i wanted to flash a custom rom?for example the kingdroid..so,i need to install cwm is it?
Flash Using Mobile ODIN
With root on, you can always use mobile ODIN to flash to any firmware of your choice. No binary count and also no triangle.

You can use MO to flash any STOCK firmware of your choice.
For custom ones you need to have a working CWM Recovery.

Rooting Samsung i9000 DXJPA and installing Cyanogenmod using Heimdall

Hi all,
I want to root my Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 and install Cyanogenmod 9 on it.
I'm using a Mac and will be using Heimdall.
The problem is I don't know where I can find the correct version of Clockworkmod for my phone. Can anyone point me in the right direction? My phone details are below:

Also, is installing CWM actually rooting my phone or do I need to do something else?
Thanks!

If I do update to 2.3.6, how does that get me closer to rooting my phone?

Yes, because you need the gingerbread bootloaders to install CMx anyway. So do this.
1. Upgrade to 2.3.x with kies or Heimdall. Doesn't matter.
1a. Put the appropriate cm9 files in your SD card. (Gapps, ROM)
2. Flash semaphore or devil kernel .tar files under pda in Odin. Not sure about heimdall sorry!
Note: Please note that recovery is packaged with the kernel on this ROM, so flashing a kernel changes your cwm as well.
3. Now, you phone won't boot, no big deal. All we need is the recovery. Reboot into recovery and flash the cm9 file.
4. Now wipe data / factory reset
5. Reboot, Rejoice, enjoy

flash semaphore kernel with odin
then flash cm from here download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxysmtd&type=stable

Bootloop to CWM Recovery

Hi,
My Tab :
Samsung GT-P1000
Stock Rom was Froyo
I am trying to flash the Cyanogenmod to my Device. I got CWM successfully flashed to my tab. Now when i select the recommended Cyanogenmod for my Tab and try to flash. The flash itself is everytime successfull.
On the First time , the tab reboots to recovery. On the second time the tab doesnt reboot. It just finishes the flashing with a success message. After i restart the Tab doesnt Boot the OS it Boots into recovery.
What i am doing wrong ? Someone here who can help me out ?
Thanks in advance.

you need at least 3 times.
if it is flashing a "system" then that is the last one
Just follow priyana sign..
Important think is all partition must ext4 (system/data/dbdata/cache) that why we must install overcome kernel because its automatic change it but dont too rush install aosp/aokp rom u must check partition coz if we install overcome kernel from stock gb2.3.6 rom sometimes system still on rfs..

Make sure kies isn't running.
I wonder if that is why it it "removed" before ended,

I don't know what kind of CM do you want to install, but there is a really good CM10 (JB): sapir-rom.blogspot.hu Try this, maybe the problem is with your ROM that you want to install.

SGS slow booting and all crashing

Hi,
I have problem with SGS. When I got it from my friend there was Android 2.3.3. When i turn on the phone, booting took maybe 30minutes, then all apps started to crash. So I did wipe data and wipe cache in system recovery but it didnt solve the problem. Then I flash over Odin official firmware but still booting takes about 30minutes and all apps are crashing. I tried to flash three files rom via odin too but it didnt help. So please help, i really dont know what to do now, i tried everything
Phone is non-rooted, there is official 2.3.6 but all is crashing so it is unusable.

yes you can, use odin and the download menu of the phone (turn it of, then turn it on and press volume down + home + power buttom for a few sec)
there are a few guids in this forum how to do that, just search for it

Root your device first and then flash ant custom rom . Never use update.zip method for custom Roms. It may brick your device
