Hi Guys,
This is not a ROM/Kernal or some tweaks.
Just purely discussing and sharing some reviews abt current ROM's.
I hope this thread will help for some dummies, or for some who required Stable or Fater & Smoother or much great look ROM's.
This is purely my personal Experiance.. Im not commenting on any one's ROM just sharing few thoughts with you guys..
Correct me if i was wrong, and sorry if i unknowingly hurts anybody's feeling.
First of all thanks to our SGS ROM Developers where they are working nites for latest ROM's updated tweaks or kernals.. simply million thanks to them.. else we should have only SAM's deafult firmware.
Coming to my point,i purchased my SGS I9000 n dec 2010.
Previously i dont have any idea of ROM neither XDA nor anything.
When i googled for info on SGS then i found link to DARKYROM, there i got links to XDA.
FOA i would like to thak Darky as i started to flash Custom ROM after i read the whole story posted on his Darky 9.2 stable version, he included almost every thing like which a new guy can easily understand.
9.2 Darky ROM really rocks. Then i moved to DOC's thread,
oh man here u can cook ur own stuff... u ll get here any ROM/CSC/MODEM... this is purely awesome like a supermarket .
Then Juwe's/ultimate & Sweet honey.. these guys are nite raiders always go for newest and experiantal but they ll never let you down.
last but not least Serendity ROM(currently where my journey paused for a while), superb ROM with ultimate fast.
SO my obs are
darky:- if you want Stable Release and want to stay for long time this is best ROM i get.
DOC:- here u c all ROM's and all varieties till last date, you will really confuse which ROM/CSC/Modem version u should go,
I found Serendity is my choice where u will get excellent Faster smoother and Stable and less battery drain if you are with JPY Modem. I mean without any tweaks or some bla .. bla... Just simply install and sit back and enjoy Perfect ROM for daily use.
Once again im telling tht im not Judging any ROM here, just want to Share some views of mine on various ROM's.
2.3.2 is out but lot of FC's going currently no stable yet, i suggest wait for some Darky's/DOC's Stable Release.
I found (ROM) GingerCriskelo for 2.3.2 is bit smoother and less FC's (if anybody want to try 2.3.2).

Same for me + yes serendipity a big discover but it's not late!....2.3.2 will coming.....!!!!

Tatuato, Sconcau, Darky (the best stable release IMO), Insanity (amazing speed and battery life) and now MIUI (do I need to say anything about it?).

A real cooker never needs to use such words

What abt Darky/Doc/Serendipty ... they never quoted any such comments on their posts... i havent seen yet ... hav u...!!!

I meant that when I see a cooker that uses such fancy words, I just ignore their roms. I used online rom generator to build a rom that close to the stock rom.

dud.. dud.. hold on.. im telling u again.. im not judging these(or any ROM's) nor commenting just want to share some reviews/thoughts of mine.. please take it low.. just share ur thoughts if any otherwsie dont just play ur words abt any ROM u feel online is better just say that simply.. instead of criticising other ROM's.. we are lucky to have these developers.. if u want u can create ur own Custome ROM with ur thoughts.. i hope u understood.

Guys i just flashed Insanity 0.6.7, way gud.. one should try.. just like Tricky very lite but look wise impressed with gud tweaks..

I have been on darky's for a little bit now (since early v8) and its been really, really nice. but now i seem to have cought the bug, and i just want to flash all the different roms out there and see whats out there. tomorrow I'm off to the land of cm7, then maybe miuiand then some of the roms here will be my next stops, i guess i'll report back with my findings

I am on Juwe 1.9 and it works great. Just waiting to see battery life, everything else I am satisfied.
Also when I had a HTC Desire, I was on MUIU and its was defenatly best custom ROM.

Interesting. More information please? Perhaps the developer was doing something contrary to xda rules? Not sure you will get a straight answer on this one though as I would have expected them to lock and rename the thread if they felt the need to justify or explain the cause. By deleting it though, well I get from that anyway, that they would be happy to never speak of it again.

I dnt know why everyone just asking about Baldoz i try this my self its too laggy and even flash OC kernel it is not working good....there is ton of beautiful and fast rom which are enery efficent why noy try something else

Best Kernel for MCR fr19

Hi, what is the best kernel for MCR fr19 ROM (froyo). I need a kernel with little bugs as possible and have good battery life and performance And if i flash the kernel do i lose any of my data/apps/contacts?

best kernel for FR19 imo is neoblaze and no u dont loose anything but make a backup before.

Yea i know it's old but i want to try it and see if it works well. If not then i will put on CM7 kang on it.

Don't worry as Ive already put cm7 kang onto it and its good.

i dont use video chat often, but i personally found gingerbread better, its just faster, more responsive, better ram management and the battery lasts longer. good enough reasons to say that froyo is obsolete imo.

Mini CM7.It works for me.

i think you mean cm7 rom if it is you can try gdx

"best" when it comes to roms is subjective imo. Try them out. There's a list somewhere. Mybe search it?

As far as I know, there is no MiniCM7 for stock.
MiniCM 6 was given by Ponanovn, if I remember corectly.
Of course there are many roms which try to be as much as possible similar to MiniCM but they are variants, and not similar.....
Right? Anybody? Correct me if I'm wrong.

MiniCM7-2.0.7 (Gingerbread 2.3.5) from august of 2011, ported by ponanovn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964223 is actually for stock kernel.
A rather obscure thread.

Yes, I forgot Ponanovn gave also a MiniCM7 variant. But if I remember corectly it was a pain in the %&tt to install it and when finally worked, you discover there's no module ax8mt or wifi. Let me try it again and get back to you, it was such a long time....I just don't get why people prefer porting from other devices. MiniCM is supposed to be from Xperia , hence one of the best roms....
Ok, I tried once again both MiniCM6 and 7 provided for stock...I have to say they look soooo old now...pretty good though. miniCM7 is a try, on score is not very far from any rom here. MiniCM6 is good too but lacks too much in options and in score - except for the 2d which is good.
Maybe someone could update them?

What ROM would you recommend for my sister?

Hey x8 XDA'ers.
First of all, I'm sorry for asking this kind of question, but Please bear with me man.
I'm looking for a good STABLE rom with stable battery life, good performance etc, for my sister. She's tired of hers Xperia X8 since it feels slow and react so damn slow.
I'm a SGSII user myself, so I dont know nothing about X8, but I promised her to try and improve her phone's performance so I would be grateful if you could tell me which rom's I should take a look at. Since it is my sister he knows nothing about tech-related stuff, so the rom needs to be stable and good for daily usage, since if anything goes wrong she have no clue what to do
I know XDA hate questions like "what is the best rom etc..", but I'm just asking for your personal experiences with the different rom and what you would recommend for this kind of usage

if she doesn't need a lot of features and she's okay with eclair, i'd say stick with stock. or go for any of the gingerbread roms. all of them work great especially gingerdx and minicm7. plus if you install a custom kernel and overclock it slightly, performance would improve drastically. and if you want to go for ics, try minicm9 or isdx. h

MiniCM7 + nAa kernel is the most stable Rom out there.

Well, if you want android 2.3 then choose between gingerDX or MiniCM7.
If android 4.0 then MiniCM9.

well, if its about your sister i can tell that she dont need high performance, but an improvement is nessecery.....and this rom must have and some beautiful icons?! am i wrong to somewhere?...no i am not!hahaha:laugh:
first to do, download x8toolbox(here), root, install busybox, install cwm, download gingerdx(here), put it in your sd card, reboot to cwm, full wipe-wipe dalvik, go to "install zip from sd", find the rom you download and wait until its finish, reboot, enjoy!
(i dont thing your sister needs a custom kernel, with this rom she will not have any problem and its a tone more awesome from eclair, so see will be happy)
this is all.

1. Pls use search next time.
2. Is the phone already rooted? Cwm installed? You may want to check our stickies for that.
3. I'm assuming your sis is on stock kernel (locked bootloader). If it's unlocked then that's a whole new ballgame.
Here are some you ay wanna check out:
1. Froyo roms are supposedly faster than gb roms (never tried though, so i can't elaborate on the features)
2. The really popular GingerDX. Smooth, fast, stable, and lots of features.
3. LinuxLx's LinuXperia. Cm 7.1. Great 2d/3d scores (dev is a girl so the appearance may be to your sister's liking)
4. Xperiafan's RCI V4. Haven't used it much but has good reviews.

She mainly wants better reaction/performance but an upgrade to Gingerbread or ICS would be great as well. I don't know if it would be good for the performance or not tho.
Thanks, I think I will check out Gingerdx, isdx and miniCM9. I think I'll overclock abit, but I still want it to be 100% stable, how much can I overclock, without destroying the battery life and making it unstable?

afaik ICS has beautiful icons, but maybe gingerdx has as well?
As mentioned, I'd like to overclock abit to increase the performance, so I bet a custom kernel would be good. What would recommend?

Sorry, I tried to make a quick search in the x8 forums, but I couldnt find a thread about recommended roms for girls
Most ppl recommend GingerDX, so I will probably check that out as well as MiniCM9, since ICS would perhaps be great (If it is stable tho)
She isnt going to play games I can tell for sure, so 3d score doesnt matter I guess. But thanks, will check it out, since it is a girl-made ROM

ok, first of all take out the battery andd look at the back sticker on the phone(on the phone!!!!!!!!), there will be a number like this 10wxx, 11wxx or 12wxx if it is 11w29+ just forget about unlocking bootloader,so you can not flash custom kernel, if it is 11w29- then look this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24630104&postcount=2 there you will find the links for guides about unlocking bootloader.

If you unlock your bootloader and install a custom kernel (Alfs v8a CM7) I'd try GingerZaraki..

MiniCm 7 With Hello Kitty CM7 THEME!

just try Kuyadroid
Kuyadroid is most stable rom,its on stock kernel so you dont need to unlock bootloader !! Its so easy to installing,just need rooted and xrecovery !!

Okay, I have a few final questions.
The script to root x8 require ADB, so I need to install that again (just reinstalled windows), was so complicated.

How much is completely SAFE to overclock the x8 with alfs kernel and GDX rom?

About 760 mhz..dont set it on boot.
I dont recommend oc.shorter batery life.
