[Q]Clean (re)install? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
A few days ago I flashed the latest nightly of CM10.1 and I have to say that I started to love my i9000 again!
However I am experiencing some rather annoying bugs here and there but I suspect they are not related to the rom itself, rather I am worried that they come (for most of them) from the fact that I haven't formatted my internal sd for a very long time (since my first GB custom rom actually).
So here comes my question: from my current setup (ie running a nigtly CM10.1) could I do the following
Format internal sd from recovery
Reboot then copy the rom and gaps from computer
Wipe data & cache
Flash the rom and the gaps
My concern lies between points 1 & 2 as I have no idea if is ok to format internal sd and then flash from recovery after rebooting.
Thanks in advance for your replies

[Q] Flash problem

Hello,
I just ran through format on data, sdcard, preload, cache, etc and noticed that CMW do not have "Mount USB". Long time ago when i flashed roms on another phone i just went inside and mounted the storage from there. Thou back then i had a SD card.
Anyhow, my question is:
Is there any other way to flash Paranoid into the phone without having the ZIP on the phone? Like using Odin to flash the rom from the computer through download mode instead?
I got CF Autoroot + CWM installed.
Thanks in advance

No you need to install ROMs from internal storage or SD card.
However there is 1 thing.........IF YOU HAVE I9305 DO NOT FLASH PARANOID ANDROID!!!!
This is intended for i9300, you will brick your phone.
Only flash ROMs from the i9305 section.

[Q] HashCode CM10.1 - XT860 - BlackScreen

hi to all!,
I have a problem with my Droid3 XT860 (Claro Argentina)
After install a ROMs in slot 1 and wipe all informatiĆ³n, a blackscreen appears while booting.
I'm trying to install CM10.1 ' ROMs.
Try resetting ALL!, Including flashing an original image with RSD, before formatting the internal SD and external SD.
I use 3.05 SAFESTRAP, I'dont have any problems to install anothers ROMs
The last version installed correctly was "cm-10.1-20130118-UNOFFICIAL-solana.zip"
Thanks!!
I was only capable of getting cm-10.1-20130108-UNOFFICIAL-solana.zip working until last night. I flashed cm-10.1-20130226-UNOFFICIAL-solana.zip and it has been working pretty damn good. Battery is at half life and has been running for 14 hours
I have the same problem as well. Deleted rom slot 1, recreated on 2GB. full wipe: system, reset, cache. Getting boot loops on both 10.1 and aokp... No idea what I am doing wrong. I am on the XT860.

[Q] Galaxy Note unbricked but freezing / not booting up

Hello everybody,
I have a particular issue with my Note:
A few months ago I had a emmc brick because i tried to wipe on an ICS Stock Rom (can't remember which one)
Since this week I am trying to revice the device.
I used Philz latest Kernel to connect with adb and partitioned everything around 2200MB to 7200MB - I have checked my emmc and found out I have bad blocks beginning at 2159MB to 7111MB.
Formatting the partitions and simply flashing via Odin or CWM did not work out, sometimes the ROM didn't boot up at all (glowing samsung logo) or I got a boot loop.
Then I decided to flash with ODIN using a .PIT file, I used Option 3 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26285877&postcount=12
Afterwords I was able to format /data /cache and so on - but when I try to flash a Stock ROM with this .PIT (XXLT4) it freezes either at bootup (configuring applications...) or during the unlock / usage process.
Another interesting fact: CM 10.1 (latest nightly) booted up succesfully but took somehow years to boot and could not find the internal sdcard...
Does anybody have an idea what is going on there? I found the bricked blocks, partitioned around them, but could not get a ROM to work.
Is my Note completely bricked?

N-7000 always messes up after flashing rom

Hi Guys!
Okay, so I have a problem here. Everytime, I try to flash a rom onto my Galaxy Note, it either gets stuck in a bootloop or most functions don't work (quick functions, WiFi, home button etc.) This is starting to get pretty annoying as I hate stock android and love CyanogenMod. I even tried the new CyanogenMod quick install using the computer client and android app.
I'm not sure if you need to know this but I am running CyanogenMod 10.2 (not fully functioning as problems above occur).
Andoird Version:- 4.3.1
Baseband Version:- N7000XXLT3
Kernel Version:- 3.0.64-CM-gd6f2f4a
Build Number:- cm_n7000-uderdebug 4.3.1 JLS361 28760a496f dev-keys
How do I fix this guys? Really need a solution!
Thanks in advance,
Rohan
sometimes repeated hard reboot (5-6 times) helps till ROM is properly setup.

Cheers man i'll try this and get back to you
Between each flash of a new ROM you should perform a full wipe before flashing in recovery:
in mounts and storage:
-format /system
-format /preload
-format /data
also you can format cache and dalvik cache(in advanced I believe).
-flash zip (or stock ROM with odin)
-flash gapps if needed
If you don't do those wipes then you will have many bugs, performance issues, battery issues, bootloops, random reboots etc.

[Q] Problems after alliance v2.3 Android 4.3 installation

Hello there,
I've got a problem after installing the custom Rom alliance v2.3
I came from ripper Rom v20 which is based on Android 4.1.2 and everything was fine there.
Yesterday I installed alliance. I made it with the instruction guide in the alliance thread. That means I downloaded Rom customizer and twrp.
I wanted to use Rom customizer but when I pushed flash then I was gone to recovery mode. Then I did it directly with twrp and alliance was installed.
But now I have two directories for the intern storage. I think one from 4.1.2 and one for 4.3.
What can I do now to solve this problem?
My idea was to wipe the s3 lte completely. A complete system wipe and a factory reset. Should I do a boot format too? After the OS is gone and boot ist formatted can I flash the alliance Rom to my phone? With PC or directly on the phone, if possible? So that nothing from any old versions is left on the phone and a fresh alliance can be installed.
Sorry for my bad English. My school English is ten 8 years ago.
Thanks in advance
In recovery mounts and storage format system sdcard data and cache .
Phone is now blank boot to download mode flash stock rom via Odin .
Or from ext sdcard flash custom rom .
Thank you.
I will try it today.
Is it normal that when you go from 4.1.2 to 4.3 that user data is left on the phone but can't be reached through a Explorer? When I start in cwm and click flash from SD card I can choose my new storage and the old storage from before the update. When I start normally then I see only the best storage, doesn't matter which path I click. So now I . can't delete everything left from before the update.
Will this be gone after formatting data and SD card with cwm?
I thought with Odin you can only flash .tar files and no .zip files like alliance? What have I to do to get this working?
