[Q] Touchscreen not working - LG Optimus 2x

Hi,
I have an LGP990 with ICS (forgot which ROM i was using). Yesterday the touchscreen stopped working completely. I have no clue why. So how to know in the first place if its a software problem or a hardware problem (feels more like hardware).
If it's a hardware problem what could have gone wrong ? Can i fix it personally ?
Any feedback would be so much appreciated.
Thanks,
AQ

first of all try flashing a new rom with full wipe and all, then you can see if it's a sw problem.. well I hope so it is. others can help you out if it's a hardware issue, I hope you won't need it. but as I know it can be fixed at home (by buying the right accessories of course, not sure if it's worth it). report back after reflashing, good luck.

Thanks for the reply LilProphet,
Would i be able to flash if my touch is not working ? If yes can you please tell me how ? Or can provide a link i can follow ?
Thanks,
AQ

You can use this tool:
AIO: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737

If you happen to have TWRP as your default recovery you can boot into that and see if touch works.

In most cases, it is caused by flashing a wrong kernel. Choose the proper kernel for your ROM.

Calling someone, ending a BOS

Well, I'm not sure I I've had it for, but when ever I go to call someone I get always get black screen of death. Though never happens when I receive a call.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or does anyone know a way to get rid of it? Cheers

If you want some answer, it sure will helped that you have written some info about your rom&kernel&baseband. I assume that you are using some custom stuff and that your problem lies in that way.

I knew i forgot something aha.
But nah, it doesnt matter what combination of rom, kernel, baseband and rill i try. it stills ends up with bsod.
i just wanted to know if anyone else out there have had this or still have this problem
and right now im running Topogigi's latest with 725 bb and rill.
So it happens all the time on every rom? Strange. Try to flash latest stock rom with belonging baseband and see how it works.
Or try this Rebuild of V20Q (flash the v20q baseband too)
It is.
I was running that just last week, the problem still appeared aha :/

Usually ppl refer it as BSOD instead of BOS here.. thankfully you already elaborated what BOS is to avoid confusion. just telling..
Is it this only problem on your phone? Is it present from the first day or it comes when you start flashing custom stuff? When did you first seen this bsod? Try downgrade your phone (e.g. on v10), erase all android stuff on sd card, then upgrade it via lg upgrade tool.
If your call bsods have been happening since you got your phone, on stock firmware, kernel, and BB. Then I would quit troubleshooting and return the phone to the shop.

I'm not sure if I've had it from stock, I just never realised.
Yeah really should, but that's a large amount of hassle. And I rarely use outgoing calls. So its not a great problem for me.
Cheers anyway

OTA ICS upgrade made my phone laggy

Hello,
I've installed the ics update of htc. Since then my phone is crazy laggy and slow. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'll probably do a factory reset, and if nothing works I ll go for custom roms. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can try before these.
Thanks!

It's best if you flash custom roms. It really unleashes the true power of the Incredible S. You see stock software from HTC isn't optimized. And when xda gods like mike1983 (i think) create roms like arhd, you will experience true power

Thanks for the answer! I'm interested in doing that, but I use only linux and I see most of root s-off stuff needs a Windows PC, and for hboot 2.02, there is no straightforward guide yet. If I find a nice guide JUST for linux (and for hboot2.02), I'll sure do it.
Cheers

Doesn't sound ok, my device became much faster and more responsive... A factory reset should help... Otherwise you could try disabling useless stuff you'd never use anyway.
Yeah, you should try the factory reset and you will slightly better than before formatting.

Flash the RUU for your phone, and then Reset it.
I did it that way and it was fast.
I ve read a bit about ruu, but it still seems to need windows machine. I would install a custom rom if I had windows. By the way, how do you find the ruu? Do you get it from HTC?

There is a sticky thread in the Development section that has links to a lot of shipped RUUs for the IncS.

I flashed RUU but did not reset it. Most of the time phone is slow. Does factory reset after RUU really does the trick?
I am kind a sick of reinstalling my apps, because I allready did 2 resets after first OTA, downgrade to 2.3.5 and new OTA (before RUU become availible) and after that - 4.0.4 RUU. Perfomance stays the same - slow.
Disable that weird office app that came with this update, I think that may solve your problem. At least it worked for me!! I'm using Documents to go anyway so I didn't need it

Hey Guys,
I had updated my HTC Incredible S recently and found ICS was great but had major problems as phone became "laggy" and took more than 16 seconds to get back to Home Screen after hitting the Home Icon.
I did search for the solution on google and found the trick mentioned by Luckyone199 in the link as mentioned below:-
androidforums.com/htc-incredible-s/580085-all-about-ics-htc-incredible-s-ice-cream-sandwich-update-rolling-out-now.html#post4751371
And guess what.... it worked wonders!!
Just go to DEVELOPER OPTIONS under Settings and UNCHECK ''DON'T KEEP ACTIVITIES'' on bottom of the menu.
It just worked great and now my phones is ultra-fast and I able to make the best of what ICS had to offer.
It should work for other phones too. Thanks to Luckyone199. Please do try it and post back so it will be helpful for others too. Thanks Guys

Hey Buddy,
Try to keep the "Background process limit" to Standard Limit and Uncheck "DONT KEEP ACTIVITIES" and then restart your phone. Please do reply if this worked. Thanks
It's strange that some get laggy experience and some get much better performance after the ICS upgrade... My phone is blazing fast compared to gingerbread. Don't forget that Sense 3.6 is heavier... Browsing, running apps and even 3D performance have improved! In Modern Combat 3 there's a huge difference!!1
Have they improved the qualcomm drivers or is just ICS more tweaked for games & hardware acceleration???

[Q] Htc Vivid/Holiday/Velocity/Raider/ Wifi Problema.

I've had a HTC Vivid for quite a while, but recently decided to change the Rom, Rom've tried several, but all encounter the same problem and that is that the Wifi does not work
I've done all Wipes, I have the Bootlouder Desblock, and everything, but still I do not find anything, and I get all the Roms
I wonder if someone is kind enough to explain what might happen in my case and if you have some sort of solution.
Sorry if I wrote something wrong even mishandled my English!

If you give me some guidelines on how to do I'd appreciate it!
Just download the toolkit and take the boot.img from the Rom you are using and place it in the kernel folder of the toolkit and open the program and choose flash kernel

[Q] Please Help Troubleshoot - Unresponsive Touchscreen

I have a Galaxy S Advance that I purchased in Hong Kong, although I live in the United States. The phone has been working very well on T-Mobile's network for over one year. The phone is running stock gingerbread. I have never flashed any roms.
Yesterday, the phone's touchscreen stopped working. I didn't drop it, and it didn't get wet. It just suddenly stopped allowing touch input. I thought that it might be a software issue, so I booted into recovery and did a factory reset. After re-booting, the phone still isn't responding to touch.
What else can I do to check whether this is a software problem?
Should I try flashing the stock firmware? If so, how do I know which PDA number to use?
Thank you!
Or you could go to the local store with your phone cuz I think this has nothing to do with the firmware...

Can a firmware error cause this problem? I'd love to take it into the shop, but as I said I purchased it in Hong Kong. I live in the US. I suppose I may have to mail it back, but was hoping someone may have some advice.
All of the buttons at the bottom are responsive to touch, but the screen is not.

I guess it's an error in the screen. Or else, try flashing JellyBean XXLQ4 on your device using Odin and the USB Cable. And if THAT doesn't do it. Use CoCore Kernel ( root required ), I read it improves the sensitivity of the touchscreen so you may try that. If that doesn't work, boot into recovery ( volume up + home + power ) and make the reset and cache wipe and flash JB XXLQ4 again. Then go to the nearest phone store, act as if you never tried to install a kernel or rooted ur phone and look if they can find the problem. If found, send to hongkong.
*Edit: added link to JB firmwares. You need the Ser LQ4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110245

Thank you for the advice. Will upgrading to JB via Odin void the warranty? I know that JB hasn't been officially released in Hong Kong yet. Does Samsung care?
Nope. This JB is stock firmware so it can not void your warranty here in Holland I also had some problems, went to samsung with the JB ( which is not yet released ) and it wasn't a problem.

Do not, and I repeat, do not forget to root your phone before you flash the CoCore Kernel. You can root using Shaaans method. It's found in the Dev section and it's quite simple.
Let me know if it worked out

This is a noob question, but if I use the wrong PDA version will it brick the phone? From what I've read it seems that moving to JB is fine even if it's software from a different country (Serbia/Russia). What if I flash the "wrong" country's gingerbread version?
Again, thank you all for the answers. This is very helpful.

Once you've been on JB you wouldn't want sh*tty old GB back haha. Uhmm there is a tutorial about reflashing GB 2.3.6 on the Q&A section, I will search the link and edit this post when I find it
*Edit: Link to downgrade tut is here. It works for all languages / regions, as long as your phone is an 8GB device and not 16GB ( thats for this method ). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100642
*Edit2: just follow the steps described in the topics about the 4.1.2 or do some googling, most of the time there is a specific description with the files.

claim your warranty first, if you have international warranty.. this might be a hardware problem..
for all you said, it suddenly lost touch function..
point is.. let the service center figure out first the cause of the problem before trying to solve it on your own..
after that, you can try JB firmware and modifying it to alot of stuff..

I had it in the past and as I said my phone is still afflicted by that. Any suggestion? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks a lot !
